Everything I have spent on the game has come from gift cards. $60 in all...

Not sure why you wouldn't count gift cards though since they still need to be purchased. I for one normally do all my purchasing in games via gift cards since you can normally get them on sale so if you are buying $5000.00+ at a time it can make quite diffrence

Nothing so far. I was tempted, oh how I was tempted to go the easy route in an effort to speed things up and get that 4th builder, but then the loot update hit and most of the time I have 2 builders on unemployment benefits.
