Maybe it's just me but I was raised to help thy neighbor. But what I'm noticing is not many do this.
I've helped many neigbours and have gotten 1 card in return.
I go there the paper looking for the ! Marker abd help if I can. I do the same for friends.
Is it just me??
I figured if at least get more than 1 card as I've helped out over 15 people.

I think you only get a gift card 1 out of 6 times you help. So if you want the max 5 gift cards a day, you have to help 30 times.
People kinda have to "thank" you when you help them since without clicking on the icon they can't proceed with the game. For example, after you water a tree/bush if they don't click on the icon the tree/bush won't continue to grow. Same with boat orders; can't send the boat orders away if they don't "thank" you. I'm not sure if the 6:1 ratio is correct, but it's true that you have to help a lot to get the daily maximum of 5. I suggest you go find some trees/bushes to water as they are easier than boat orders.
You may have simply hit a ruff patch of farmers. Keep farming and building your community. Once you create a good base of neighbors conducive to your playing preferences it won't even be an issue.

Actually that's not exactly true. You can send the boat away without sending the thank you. I've done it to myself a couple times. I'd be playing with my daughters farm, flag some crates on her boat and then open up my own farm to fill them. Then I'd go back to her farm and hit the cast away boat button and forget to tap on my avatar. I never forget to do that for other folks because I want to see their name so I know who helped. With over 400 friends I don't have the picture memorized. I guess since I knew it was me, I didn't need to see my own name.
But they are right. You don't get a gift card with every person you help. It takes quite a few to get all five. I found that out when started a new farm. This one doesn't have as many friends and the ones it does have, don't need as much boat help because my needs help tab is frequently empty. I have to get my kid to alert me when she is flagging things for help.
Rather than a thread asking people to help others, maybe we need one telling new folks that it is OK to ask for help. I have seen folks say that they don't want to appear that they can't do it themselves and are reluctant to ask for help. I even remember one person saying that she would cut her trees down instead of asking for help. That's crazy! We need to assure them that they are helping us by asking for help, especially with trees.
Also even though you get boat points for filling a crate, the boat owner doesn't lose any points when you help them. They don't get the XP and coins for using the product but they still get all the points as long as it doesn't take too long for someone to come along. I look at it this way. They get points, XP and coins, and I still get all my points and get to save my stock to help the next guy. So people do not hesitate to open and flag the easy crates even if you can fill them your self. You are helping your neighbor too.
Also, regarding the plants....for a long time I didn't know I'd have to click on the helper's icon twice to send a thank you. I didn't, only once and just continued doing stuff on my farm, shopping etc. The icons would disappear within minutes and my plants were all fine again.
In addition, there is a small time lag, and you could easily be helping at the same time as others. So while the game gives you the xp points, the other player may actually have a third player's avatar show up.
Another thread mentioned this as someone was playing Hay Day with a friend sitting right next to them, yet someone else managed to get in that nanosecond earlier and water the plants and it was the other person's avatar which showed up on the friend's farm, even though that player received the xp points on their own farm.
Tweezle, I often experience that with boat crates. Like I will fill a crate and my icon shows up, the a millisecond later it will say that the box has already been filled, yet it still shows my icon. No items lost however.
That's right,it's the exact same thing. Your avatar might not show up on the boat, even though you get the coin and the xp. Given how fast some of my boat crates get filled (I usually flag 1 of each to give friends a chance to get boat points) it wouldn't surprise me if others think they've filled them.Quote:
