Fruit Trees & Berry Bushes

Are the trees and bushes really worth it? When I first discovered how much blackberries were worth, I bought tons of the bushes to make money. I have always struggled being able to buy machines when I level up because I never have enough coins. I thought selling the fruit would help but now I'm wondering if its cost effective.

I have been trashing every truck order unless its for jewelry and pays more than I could sell it for and have been casting off most boats I get. In the beginning I did truck orders like crazy so I could level up faster but I realized its not really worth levelling up if you can't buy the new machine you unlocked!

Anyway, I just paid to repair my net maker and it broke the bank! I was down to about $6,000. Then one set of my cacao trees ripened and it was their last run so I had to saw them down. I replaced them with another set of 10, and $5,500 later I'm really broke! (I guarantee I'm going to find all kinds of BEM's in the DD now!)

So I'm asking your opinion. I see some farms full of trees/bushes and some with little or none. How many fruits do you get out of each harvest?

I'm going to take notes with these 10 cacao trees and see what I come up with. I don't sell every fruit because I need some for production of course so I guess I'll need to take that into account too. Also the fact that you need axes and saws when they're dead, and I never have stock of these so I always have a "dead" section on my farm.

Any advice or insight on your experience would be greatly appreciated!

Most of us only harvest our trees and bushes as we need them for the machines. You get 4 harvest, I think, out of them. Somebody else on here can help you with the other questions. Also check the sticky threads, the are full of helpful information. Also welcome.

In my opinion it's not really worth it. You have to have enough saws & axes to manage all of them once they die. And you have to have the coins to replace them (if you want). But there are benefits. I have a few extra trees & bushes (but not so many that I can't handle them) so that I can sell the extras & get some coins. So I guess it's mostly opinion. If you feel you can mange all of them then I say go for it :D!!

It's only worth it when having enough axes and saws to slay those dead ones away.

I think having trees and bushes are worth it.

In the lower levels, it was a good way to make money. Fruit sells pretty well, and you don't need precious barn space for it. Dead trees and bushes didn't bother me much. I just moved them to the back of the farm. And it wasn't for long. I soon ended up with more saws and axes than I could use, just from farming activities. (Basically, once I started asking for help when the trees wilted, I had plenty of saws and axes.)

Now I like having them so I have the raw materials to make juice, coffee, jam, etc. Sure, you can just buy the fruit, but sometimes it's hard to find them when you need them.

I really appreciate everyone's input on this and I think the spreadsheets are great! What I'm looking for is how many fruits you get from each harvest so I'm going to keep track. I'll start with cacao trees and then everything else except olive trees as I'm not at that level yet. I will post my results in this thread. Thanks again everyone!

That's exactly what I was looking for! Thank you so much for the link! I tried searching to see if I could find a thread like that but I couldn't find anything. I really appreciate you pointing that out and thank you for saving me the time of having to do that! :D

I agree with Janilee: Once I realized I could ask for help to revive the trees and bushes, I always have had more saws and axes than I need. I even sell them from time to time. I use the trees and bushes as decor, and mostly only harvest when I need something. But I do occasionally sell stuff from them, and I harvest the 3-timers to give my kids something to revive (because they have a hard time earning enough gift cards otherwise). I also will do wheating when I feel like I'm low on something.

I've never used the fruit trees to sell fruit--only to make products with machines or to fill boat orders. I fill all of the empty space on my farm with fruit trees and berry bushes. Some have never been harvested once. It's just nice having trees and having some reserve supply of fruit, if I need it.

Fruit trees and bushes are a good way to exchange time for money. All fruit will sell if advertised, and evn the siple fruit recipies will give more than it cost to plant the tree.

That is especially true when the visitor event rolls around, and they will buy large quantities above what you can sell in the shop.
