guide to 5 star archers

My 5 star archer guide:

I read that alot of people are complaining about the higher costs of the lvl 5 upgrades. Some people have stated that upgrading of the new troops (lvl5) became impossible. raising an army already costs alot elixer and if u use around 50k elixer to build an army, you will have to loot more then 50k elixer to advance. With an average loot of 60-70k elixer it will take forever to get this upgrade going. (only like 50k profit an hour).

To give these people some hope:
I am a lvl 48 with TH 8 and got my upgrade for archers from 4 to 5 stars yesterday.
Im gonna tell u how i did this. and provide u with tips. Also i provide some options for diffrent type of players.

The tips:

1. low budget army. My army setup was: 3 bombers, 40 barbs, 142 archers. The total cost is 32k elix. Although most of the times i didnt use my bombers cause i didnt have to.

2. just use as much as u have to, to get most of the rescourses available. Obviously ur main goal is getting alot of elixer (with some gold along the process). U dont have to destroy 100%, of kill townhall of whatever. Just get 1 star (so u dont lose) and focus on getting the elixer. Especially vs weaker targets, i would have around 50 archers left. this saves time and elix.

3. Pick good targets. with the gold u get along, u have enough money to spend on picking good targets. Ones that have alot available AND u can handle with ur current army.

4. focus on getting the elixer. U might lose a few battles but still get 100k elix from such a fight. dont worry about this. Your goal NOW is getting this upgrade. If u can win its great. IF u cant thing about this: u have to make one stap back to make 3 steps forward (with lvl 5 troops).

Hiding elixer:

Ok so after playing several hours u managed to get 800k elixer. Now it feels verry verry bad to log out and have someone steal 25% of your hard earned elixer. (200k). dont worry if u earn 800k and lose 200k its still 600k profit. The next day u go from 600k to lets say 1400k. (someone steals 350), u still have 1050k left. (still 450k profit). So u still manage to progress.

The above is ofcourse a worst case scenario cause:
- U wont lose all elixer if u use tyhe right tricks and defend it in a good way.

I DONT recommend putting the townhall outside of your base. Its just an easy star and your opponent has no chance of losing, so he will still try to get most of your elixer, since he cant lose anymore. I DO recommend: split the 3 elixer depots over diffrent parts of your base. maybe seperated with walls. defended by atleast 1 mortar and 1 mage tower. Most opponents who attacked me got only 1 or 2 out of the 3 depots. so i actually lost around 50% of possible loot on average.

I DO recommend hiding rescourses using your unit building structure. before logging out you put a balloon (or mage) AND a max ammount of bombers in every cue. If u have dragons of pekka unlocked u put those. log back in 9 minutes later. if u were attacked: nice u got a shield and cancel everything to get elixer back. If u were not attacked. cancel everything and put the cue again and log out again for 9 minutes. Most of the times it takes 2-3 times before u get attacked. I was able to hide around 360k elixer in this way.

The hardcore gamer:

How long will it take to get to 2250k? (assuming 800k income of elixer a day, assuming opponents steal 66% of available rescourses).

day 1: u steal 800k, hide 360. 25% of 440k = 110k will be available loot.
assuming they steal 66% of it u will lose 70k. leaving u with 730k elixer.

day 2: U get a 12 hour schield on day 1. during the hours u sleep u will get aprox 70k elix.
U start day 2 at 800k elix. U loot another 800k this day. brings u to 1600k. Now u hide 360.
25% of 1240 = 310k will be available loot. assuming they steal 66% u lose around 200k. leaving u with 1400k elix.

day 3: U get a 12 hour schield on day 2. during the hours u sleep u will get aprox 70k elix.
u start day 3 at 1470k elix. u loot 800k elixer and got a total of 2270k. mission acomplished.

Regular player+ :

Ofcourse 800k is still alot to loot in one day. it takes around 6 hours to do so.
If u dont have that much time available (except for weekends), i recommend the following:
(increase playing time as u are closer to goal).

day 1: loot 250k (2 hours) (hide all elix, u might leave some gold to get attacked quick).
day 2: loot 250k (2 hours). total 500K. hide 360 (leave 140k). available loot 35k. they steal around 25k.
day 3: loot 250k (2hours). 475+250 = 725k. hide 360 (leave 365). available loot 90k. they steal around 65k
day 4: loot 250k (2hours). 660+250 = 910k. hide 360 (leave 550). available loot 140k. they steal around 100k
day 5: loot 375k (3hours). 810k+375 = 1185k. hide 360 (leave 825). available loot 200k. they steal around 130k
day 6: loot 375k (3hours). 1055k+375 = 1430k. hide 360 (leave 1070k). available loot 265k. they steal around 150k
day 7 (sunday): u start at 1280k. play for around 8 hours to get 1m elixer and get upgrade.

total loot lost in the first method would be aprox 270k elix. Total loot lost in the slower method is 470k elix.
So u lose around 200k more elixer in the slow method. at an average rate of 125k elixer an hour, thats roughly 2 hours more work compared to the fast method. (fast method takes around 19-20 hours of investment. slower method takes around 22 hours of investment.

So although the first method seems MUCH better. It is just slightly better (10%). So even if u dont play hardcore for hours everyday, its still possible.

Casual player:

If u really never can play for a long time (max 2 hours a day). I got this method were gem usage is involved. But alot cheaper then just buying it straight (wich would cost around 930 gems).

day 1: loot 250k (2 hours) (hide all elix, u might leave some gold to get attacked quick).
day 2: loot 250k (2 hours). total 500K. hide 360 (leave 140k). available loot 35k. they steal around 25k.
day 3: loot 250k (2hours). 475+250 = 725k. hide 360 (leave 365). available loot 90k. they steal around 65k
day 4: loot 250k (2hours). 660+250 = 910k. (buy 5 day shield for 250 gems).

assuming u have lvl 8 pumps and mines u get 6x1900 = 11400 elix and gold an hour.
this is around 270k a day. wich brings u to a total income of around 1370k. add the initial 910k, and u get 2280k.
have fun with the upgrade. (on a side note: that 1370k gold can come in handy for upgrading mortars, buying tesla, upgrading canons or towers etc. especially if u do it in the shielded time and the defence buildings are done when the shield is up). id recommend using money on lvl 5 mortars (since this will also be verry hard to achieve for a casual player who plays around 2 hours a day).

this method is verry verry good method for casual players to finally get bigger upgrades.
its also alot cheaper then just buying the elix and or gold straight. (only 30% of costs in gems). although this method takes slightly longer (9 days).

Just want to add 1 more thing is that when you can't be looted more than 180k resources if you store all of them in storage. For instance, you only lose around 180k when you have either 720k or 2 mil gold. The porpotion of 25 percent is right only when you have less than 700k resoures. Hope this help.

hiding elixer can be verry good. one tip:
dont do it just before u want to go to sleep.

i put like 3 dragons + 120 bombs on. then i fell asleep.
woke up in the morning with 3 dragons and alot of bombers.
Start hiding around 30min before u want to sleep.

I dont think this is correct. I have attacked someone and gotten 240k gold and 238k elix once.
this is more then the 180k u state.

I think the 180k is from the storages...does not include what you pump/mined. Pls corrrect me if i am wrong.

Baldiesrt got the point. The maximum amount available to loot form storage is 180k for sure. You sometimes find target offering more than that because they still have plenty of resources left uncollected in pump/mine

When I'm farming gold or grape juice I always use a few wall breakers and the rest, all goblins. I don't concern myself with losing trophies either. You can win those back. Last night in about an hour and a half I farmed 1.2 million gold and lost 200 trophies. Ill have those trophies back in about the same amount of time with proper target selection.

Target selection is also really key. So is using only the necessary amount of troops. I had one target last night that I got about 150k gold and only used 20 goblins

Can you clarify and thanks never thought of this.
if I fill my camps with goblins, will cost me 10k
then queue up pukka,
if I am attacked and my camps destroyed, will the pukka start to produce?
soman overnight away, I wake up to no elixir and several pukka wandering about?

correct, if u get attacked your camps will be filled with pekkas.

You want someone to attack you before you go to sleep so you get shield. Hence why the OP has to check every 9 minutes before the ballon finishes. Then he cancels the balloons and re add it...he has to check every 9 mins until someone attacks him to give him shield.

Yes they will.

They tweaked our ability to hide elixir but still doable.

well its a great guide, i knew it all already but should help others.

my concern is that you've exposed the barrack trick for hiding sum elixir. the players will love this who didn't know but posting that on this forum is dangerous.
u do know the moderators found out we used the building/cancel trick to hide larger amounts before from this site and shortly after changed it so you only get 50% back thus killing that stashing trick.
this barrack trick is the only way we have left now to stash sum elixir. I hope they dont change that too now that you've told them about it.

this barrack trick is the only way we have left now to stash sum elixir. I hope they dont change that too now that you've told them about it.

Because the game doesn't function well if people cannot obtain resources through raiding because others are hiding them. In addition there is a 30% cap on resource loss. That means you are by default already hiding 70% of your resources.

In fact, the opposite of what you say is true. Permitting people to hide resources means that there is no way other than collectors or counting on really bad players who don't hide, to obtain more resources without purchasing gems.

Generally speaking (although this last update makes it very hard if your TH is lv8), one's capacity to gain resources through raiding greatly outstrips one's capacity to gain resources via collectors and being able to hide them.

probably the same reason they never gave when they altered the amount of resources u get back from canceled builds to 50% only once they found out we were using that :) oh wait, they said it wasn't fair to not leave it all out for others to raid lol
Im not trying to be negative, just cautious. they have a habit of making a lot of changes that only make things harder for us and take away any little edge we find. like the builders for walls (no good reason given).

They gave a reason for both, and it was the same reason. Preventing players from hiding or spending all of their resources continuously is a good thing. It's bad for the individual, but overall it's better for everyone.

One thing continuously overlooked in these calculations is the multiple back to back high resource losses because people intentionally lose so as to drop/maintain low trophy count.

Also why would you NOT put your TH outside. It helps generate a shield(loss) hopefully with minimal loss (someone attacking TH but unable to truly attack your storages.).

i agree, ironically lol but i think with the higher elixir prices now its a good thing that we can a small amount in the barracks. key word is small here. it helps, the majority is up for grabs tho so i hope they dont cut off the barrack thing is all. :)

I havent read all the answers so someone might already have said it but your "tutorial" might work for very active players but for players like me, who can only play at night and therefor use 2 shields in a row (I'm being attacked twice), its impossible to raise enough elixir. Lets say i have 200K. i'm attacked, i lose around 70K. I now have 130. I'm attacked again, I lose 45K. I've lost more than half of the elixir i had. But hey, I shouldnt have a life outside the game I guess...

U say u only can play once a day, so u get attacked twice before u log on again. Me personally I also play a few hours once a day + 1-2 attacks (max 30 minits while getting ready for work) in the morning. this would probably counter the elixer/gold/trophies lost by getting attacked. Even if u dont have the option of doing this ill provide u with a proper solution (although it might be slower).

day 1: loot 250k (2 hours) (hide all elix in barracks, u might leave some gold to get attacked quick).
U get attacked first time and lose no elixer. the second attack on u lose around 50k (assuming they dont get all 3 of your elixer depot but just 2 of them, just spread and defend them properly). When u wake up the next day log in for 10 seconds to collect all elixer from pumps = 80-100k extra elixer. but dont remove shield. total elixer should now be around 280k.

U get attacked in the morning (so get shielded):
u drop down to 224k. (assuming a they get 2 out of three elixer storages down).
then u come back at home and play. First of all u collect all elixer (around 100k). now u are at 324k.

day 2: loot 250k. 324 + 250 = 574k. hide 360 (leave around 220k). they steal 44k. u are sheilded till the morning/noon and have 536k left. collect 80k in the morning. get up to 654k.

U get attacked in the morning (so get shielded):
u drop down to 523k. (assuming they get 2 out of three elixer storages down).
then u come back at home and play. First of all u collect all elixer (around 100k). now u are at 623k.

day 3: loot 250k. 623 + 250 = 873k. hide 360 (leave around 500k). they steal 100k. u are sheilded till the morning/noon and have 773k left. collect 80k in the morning. get up to 853k.

NOW get a week shield for 250 gems. with lvl 8 pumps and mines u get 6x1900 = 11400 elix and gold an hour.
this is around 270k a day. Even with lvl 7 pumps u get 230k a day. If ur pumps are level 7 or higher u get atleast 1619k during this shielded time. att the 853k u initially got and u got a total of 2400-2500k elixer. enjoi the upgrade.

(on a side note: that gold u collect in shielded time can come in handy for upgrading mortars, buying tesla, upgrading canons or towers etc. especially if u do it in the shielded time and the defence buildings are done when the shield is up). id recommend using money on lvl 5 mortars (since this will also be verry hard to achieve for a casual player who plays around 2 hours a day).

I forgot to take the own produce of elixer in the guide. So this makes it even easier.
In 10 days u still can get the lvl 5 troops upgrade. (and some nice mortar or tesla).

Based on 6 Elixir collectors at Grade 8, 4 camps with 45 space each, 20 minutes training time for each raid and an average loot of 75k elixir. I don't include hiding elixir by training & untraining troops while waiting for shield.

I seem to get attacked almost immediately every time I go offline though, so are you staying on through those 4 20 min training times for 5 raids?

Probably yes
active players just keep on online until they get the whole amount needed for the upgrade

Wow the game has changed so much... I can farm 2.25 mil in an hour or two.

Lol yeah, I consider it a bad day if I don't make at,least 750k per hour. I usually don't quite hit 1mil per hour. I have done it a couple times and it feels great, takes a lot of luck though, sometimes the loot just isn't there.

I bet every TH9 and TH10 player reading this is thinking: "If you think TH8 prices are bad, just wait...."
