My 5 star archer guide:
I read that alot of people are complaining about the higher costs of the lvl 5 upgrades. Some people have stated that upgrading of the new troops (lvl5) became impossible. raising an army already costs alot elixer and if u use around 50k elixer to build an army, you will have to loot more then 50k elixer to advance. With an average loot of 60-70k elixer it will take forever to get this upgrade going. (only like 50k profit an hour).
To give these people some hope:
I am a lvl 48 with TH 8 and got my upgrade for archers from 4 to 5 stars yesterday.
Im gonna tell u how i did this. and provide u with tips. Also i provide some options for diffrent type of players.

The tips:
1. low budget army. My army setup was: 3 bombers, 40 barbs, 142 archers. The total cost is 32k elix. Although most of the times i didnt use my bombers cause i didnt have to.
2. just use as much as u have to, to get most of the rescourses available. Obviously ur main goal is getting alot of elixer (with some gold along the process). U dont have to destroy 100%, of kill townhall of whatever. Just get 1 star (so u dont lose) and focus on getting the elixer. Especially vs weaker targets, i would have around 50 archers left. this saves time and elix.
3. Pick good targets. with the gold u get along, u have enough money to spend on picking good targets. Ones that have alot available AND u can handle with ur current army.
4. focus on getting the elixer. U might lose a few battles but still get 100k elix from such a fight. dont worry about this. Your goal NOW is getting this upgrade. If u can win its great. IF u cant thing about this: u have to make one stap back to make 3 steps forward (with lvl 5 troops).

Hiding elixer:
Ok so after playing several hours u managed to get 800k elixer. Now it feels verry verry bad to log out and have someone steal 25% of your hard earned elixer. (200k). dont worry if u earn 800k and lose 200k its still 600k profit. The next day u go from 600k to lets say 1400k. (someone steals 350), u still have 1050k left. (still 450k profit). So u still manage to progress.
The above is ofcourse a worst case scenario cause:
- U wont lose all elixer if u use tyhe right tricks and defend it in a good way.
I DONT recommend putting the townhall outside of your base. Its just an easy star and your opponent has no chance of losing, so he will still try to get most of your elixer, since he cant lose anymore. I DO recommend: split the 3 elixer depots over diffrent parts of your base. maybe seperated with walls. defended by atleast 1 mortar and 1 mage tower. Most opponents who attacked me got only 1 or 2 out of the 3 depots. so i actually lost around 50% of possible loot on average.
I DO recommend hiding rescourses using your unit building structure. before logging out you put a balloon (or mage) AND a max ammount of bombers in every cue. If u have dragons of pekka unlocked u put those. log back in 9 minutes later. if u were attacked: nice u got a shield and cancel everything to get elixer back. If u were not attacked. cancel everything and put the cue again and log out again for 9 minutes. Most of the times it takes 2-3 times before u get attacked. I was able to hide around 360k elixer in this way.

The hardcore gamer:
How long will it take to get to 2250k? (assuming 800k income of elixer a day, assuming opponents steal 66% of available rescourses).
day 1: u steal 800k, hide 360. 25% of 440k = 110k will be available loot.
assuming they steal 66% of it u will lose 70k. leaving u with 730k elixer.
day 2: U get a 12 hour schield on day 1. during the hours u sleep u will get aprox 70k elix.
U start day 2 at 800k elix. U loot another 800k this day. brings u to 1600k. Now u hide 360.
25% of 1240 = 310k will be available loot. assuming they steal 66% u lose around 200k. leaving u with 1400k elix.
day 3: U get a 12 hour schield on day 2. during the hours u sleep u will get aprox 70k elix.
u start day 3 at 1470k elix. u loot 800k elixer and got a total of 2270k. mission acomplished.

Regular player+ :
Ofcourse 800k is still alot to loot in one day. it takes around 6 hours to do so.
If u dont have that much time available (except for weekends), i recommend the following:
(increase playing time as u are closer to goal).
day 1: loot 250k (2 hours) (hide all elix, u might leave some gold to get attacked quick).
day 2: loot 250k (2 hours). total 500K. hide 360 (leave 140k). available loot 35k. they steal around 25k.
day 3: loot 250k (2hours). 475+250 = 725k. hide 360 (leave 365). available loot 90k. they steal around 65k
day 4: loot 250k (2hours). 660+250 = 910k. hide 360 (leave 550). available loot 140k. they steal around 100k
day 5: loot 375k (3hours). 810k+375 = 1185k. hide 360 (leave 825). available loot 200k. they steal around 130k
day 6: loot 375k (3hours). 1055k+375 = 1430k. hide 360 (leave 1070k). available loot 265k. they steal around 150k
day 7 (sunday): u start at 1280k. play for around 8 hours to get 1m elixer and get upgrade.
total loot lost in the first method would be aprox 270k elix. Total loot lost in the slower method is 470k elix.
So u lose around 200k more elixer in the slow method. at an average rate of 125k elixer an hour, thats roughly 2 hours more work compared to the fast method. (fast method takes around 19-20 hours of investment. slower method takes around 22 hours of investment.
So although the first method seems MUCH better. It is just slightly better (10%). So even if u dont play hardcore for hours everyday, its still possible.

Casual player:
If u really never can play for a long time (max 2 hours a day). I got this method were gem usage is involved. But alot cheaper then just buying it straight (wich would cost around 930 gems).
day 1: loot 250k (2 hours) (hide all elix, u might leave some gold to get attacked quick).
day 2: loot 250k (2 hours). total 500K. hide 360 (leave 140k). available loot 35k. they steal around 25k.
day 3: loot 250k (2hours). 475+250 = 725k. hide 360 (leave 365). available loot 90k. they steal around 65k
day 4: loot 250k (2hours). 660+250 = 910k. (buy 5 day shield for 250 gems).
assuming u have lvl 8 pumps and mines u get 6x1900 = 11400 elix and gold an hour.
this is around 270k a day. wich brings u to a total income of around 1370k. add the initial 910k, and u get 2280k.
have fun with the upgrade. (on a side note: that 1370k gold can come in handy for upgrading mortars, buying tesla, upgrading canons or towers etc. especially if u do it in the shielded time and the defence buildings are done when the shield is up). id recommend using money on lvl 5 mortars (since this will also be verry hard to achieve for a casual player who plays around 2 hours a day).
this method is verry verry good method for casual players to finally get bigger upgrades.
its also alot cheaper then just buying the elix and or gold straight. (only 30% of costs in gems). although this method takes slightly longer (9 days).
