This would benefit both Supercell and players
I agree. If you keep the same gem to time ratio but reduce them to 5 gems / hour there would be considerably more boosts used. I play off and on throughout the day but not enough to keep my lab and builders going like I want and during the holiday special I realized the benefits of the barracks boost to help with that.
If i could boost three barracks (2 regular & 1 dark) for one hour each for 15 gems (that keeps the same ratio) then I would probably do it before bedtime on a regular basis because I could make use of that hour. As it is now though i would have to use 60 gems for the equivalent boost but for 4 hours. However, I am not going to make use of 4 hours, only about 1 therefore not making it worth the cost.
Please give this a try Supercell, i believe you and the players will both benefit from it.
It's not all about much it was...

I played this game for a time before the winter special. Yes, it was 25 gem for 45 min per boast.
Consider this: The volume of users for this game and potential customers is growing fast, you have two options: you lower the cost and/or you lower the time frame that is purchased to keep the demand up... Otherwise demand will pitter out, due to growing disinterest in wait times. SC has the volume of customers now to offset that cost, and by keeping time lower (45min-1hr) and more affordable (5 gems/which is the current set value if the cost is broke down) they will gross more and keep demand high, selling far more volume at a higher rate of purchase. Example: your common user works. Jumps on in the morning for a few minutes to harvest resources and maybe an attack or two. Then on break (at said job) jumps on for 30-45 minutes and boasts all his barracks to be able to maximize their time on. 4 barracks & spell factory @ 5 gems an hour = 25 gems. Then gets on after work for 20 min and just upgraded or what not. But then at night gets on for an hour or two while his girl watches "pretty little liars" or "other said boring girly show"... And spends another 25-50 gems for boasts. Now this person does this 5 days a week and on a weekend day plays for 3 hours in a sitting, using 75-100 gems. That's speculative but say that's 500-600 gems a week. Bam! $5 a week to SC. Not bad. Or this: current price/time period same person. Buys boasts only on weekend because they only get on 30-60 min at a time. 4 barracks, 1 spell factory for 4 hours@20 gems ea. = 100 gems. Your at about $5 a month income from that same consumer. Which option makes SC more money? Which option allows them more assets to make new updates and implement the recommended changes that are discussed on this forum and help aid with the growth of this APP?
Other APP companies ignored this internet sales model and where are they now? IE: Simpsons Tapped out.
