RSS being attacked!

Hi all,

I'm new here but trying to find some help/advice. I'm level 52. I helped another farm's boat a while back and now this person just attacks my RSS practically before I can ever put anything in it or create an advertisement! I wouldn't mind so much if they actually helped me in return, bc usually I only do mass RSS uploads when my boat comes in or I need plants watered. I also do one big one for my followers that I don't advertise before I quit playing for the night. But this person even buys everything up in my "follower" RSS upload before any of them even have a chance. This person is NOT one of my friends or followers. I'm assuming he/she still has access to my farm thru their "last helpers" tab. I don't have their GC name and the farm name is just "Billy". I'm soooo frustrated! Any ideas?

I don't help in the DD for that reason. If you helped them then you have to wait until you are no longer on their help tab. I have one right now that I can't find. They don't have a pic and I guess they can change thief name without it showing up any place where I can find. I may have to delete all of my neighbors who don't have a pic to get rid of them and I don't want to do that

I am having a very similar problem with my RSS. This person is just hovering it seems. The moment I put something in there it's gone. I normally wouldn't care if someone bought my whole stand, but this has been everyday I put stuff up!! Driving me nuts!!

I don't think there's anything you can do, except put up only boring stuff for several days.

She's probably following you, which means there's nothing you can do to get rid of her. If you stop putting up good stuff, she'll likely move on. Since you can only follow 5 farms at a time, RSS raiders tend to have short attention spans.

Due to the current design of the game, there is not much you can do except try to convince them that your market is not worth bothering with until enough other folks help them to push your off their Last Helper tab. If that's where they're coming from.

Some folks stop selling anything but wheat or eggs for a few days or don't sell anything at all for a while. Frustrating, but that's pretty much it.


Since the topic here is not the usual debate but simply asking for advice on how to handle the visitor, it is expected that this thread NOT turn into the usual debate. If it does, it will be closed.


EDIT: For those in this situation that may not realize: If it is a friend, you can delete them through Game Center. I'm not sure through Facebook. You can delete them there but I don't know if the connection is fully broken since they still have you on their FB. I don't know what would happen if you use FB's block feature.

If it is a follower, press and hold their avatar until the frame turns red. Then tap the + sign on the red frame to delete them.

If they are coming to you through their last helper's tab, you just have to wait until enough folks help them to push you off the list. In the meantime, you can make your RSS as boring as possible.

If they are coming to you through the leader boards, there is nothing you can do except make your RSS as boring as possible to convince them to go elsewhere.

I've never had this happen to me yet, but it is nice to know what to do if it does.

Sell everything at a maximum price, that way you make some good money off them and it may put them off if they are trying to resell it.

This seems like a good plan! If someone wants to buy the mass of eggs that I sell for fuul price, come and get'em! lol

Thanks for the advice. So far he/she hasn't been back today *keeping my fingers crossed*. But I have had to delete a new follower that doesn't seem to know the rules of RSS etiquette. Lol :p

The game was designed for an open RSS for anyone to buy as much as desired or as little as currently needed. There are no "rules of RSS etiquette" beyond whatever common courtesy individual folks wish to extend.

Any "rules" you see here on the forum, such as pertain to the last bin, leave some for others,etc, are those created by forum members. 99+ percent of players have never been on the forum and have no clue how their actions may effect the RSS owner or other players. They are simply playing the game per what the game shows and allows. The game does not show the effects of one's shopping on others so, as stated, 99+ of millions of players have no clue.

That follower you deleted most likely hadn't any idea that they were inhibiting your gameplay. Not that you were wrong to delete them...you have every right to, which is why they recently implemented that button. I'm just explaining that there is a very good chance that the person was clueless that they were interfering.

Knowing that may make it less frustrating when the next one comes along.

I've only been posting on the forum here for about a month, and didn't have any idea about the 'etiquette' until a while after I started posting / reading. Before then if I came across a bountiful RSS I would think it was my lucky day! - since I've read more thoroughly here I've learned to be cautious. Before this I assumed all rss participants were the same as myself, whatever I put in my rss, please buy! - I'm certain most players, especially the majority of players who've never even looked here, aren't being malicious.

to any forum members I have 'raided' in the past, I'm really sorry, it was in no way malicious or intentional. I just thought I was playing the game.

You WERE playing the game and did nothing wrong. :) Thanks for putting a face to the other side of the coin. Remember, there is no obligation beyond what you feel comfortable with in changing your play style to suite others. Don't feel forced or pressured to do things differently. You are perfectly in your rights to go on a shopping spree.

Ive actually been feeling really bad about it, but then tbf I've got stuff going on in rl that's stressful, and playing hay day is keeping me sane ATM. That said, some of the enjoyment has gone. Last week I went nuts in an rss then realised I hadn't gone through the DD, and it was a forum member here, I think they removed me, can't remember their username or I would have apologised!

i think I will just play the way that feels right to me. If some neighbors don't like the way I like to play and they leave that is fine because we did not like to play the same way. The players that do not leave probably like to play like I do. That way I never have to worry about it. It is ok.

What is attacking to some players is shopping to others. It doesn't matter how you play; there are no rules.

Trust me...we've all been there and made that mistake and gone "eek"! but then you just have to shrug it off. It happens.

I understand it can be difficult to work out this 'in-game system' of just what is appropriate and what is not.
As Cricks has explained numerous times, there are no limits to the amount you buy in an RSS...there simply are no rules for this game feature.

You said you realised you did not buy from the DD...but from a 'forum member'.
I wonder if you mean you bought from someone on your 'friends' list instead?

So it seems you have an 'understanding' then of the 'concept' that some folk like to sell things separately to people on their 'friends list', and then to sell on the open market through advertising in the DD.

When I advertise, I expect (or rather, hope) to have my entire RSS bought out by one or 10 people...I don't care how many as long as they buy it.

When I do not advertise, Friends and Neighbours will come by and grab whatever they need...and realising they are one of a number on my 'friends list', they usually leave something for the next person (unless they had an "eek" moment! LOL)

Just common politeness really, unless you're in dire-straights, and that too is fine unless it becomes a regular habit.
That is the only reason I can think of why you were possibly 'removed'. I doubt you have been 'un-friended' by a friend for one buy-out?

We all have a 'friends' list...even the people who do not read the forums.
Im not sure what they were intended for if not for the purpose of selective trading?

As for apologising? Thats your choice.
Personally, I'll do that if I have bought a large amount of a product for a boat order Ive been caught-out on etc, and then I simply pm the person after to explain why it was necessary and to thank them for providing it for me. (Just knowing certain things will be available from a particular "friend" is often a comfort when these things cant be found in the DD).

Its a difficult topic where no-one can possibly agree on what is and isn't right (whilst acknowledging SC rules only apply)

Bottom line...If you still have a decent sized friends list, you cant be doing too much wrong! Take heart in that and play on! :)

I think that most players who do care about being wiped out tend to feel that if it's advertised, it's all fair game. If it's not advertised and gets wiped out, we can always just sever connection with that player. No biggie.

Thanks everybody for the replies :-) - I've been helping as many of my neighbours boats ever since by way of penance!

In all honestly, MOST people don't mind an occasional raid. Once you get a lot of friends it's nigh on impossible to camp out on someone's RSS anyway!!

Its the the people who you just can't seem to shake, ever, which are a pain. The ones who will buy everything you list, all the time, whenever you list it.

The few people who object to occasion raid, meh, they know how to delete me. Their loss, I list lots of goodies usually (although not at the moment as I'm doing the Scorched Earth Challenge!) and help lots of boats.

I had what I refer to as a "stalker" who took everything anytime I put it in my stand (unadvertised too) so I followed the recommendations of deleted them from following me then I went into Game Center and changed my name. Since they never helped, etc. they haven't been able to come back, greedy b**tards! So far so good....hope this helps you!

I don't raid and tho I have been accussed of being a camper for taking like 4 items over the course of 12 hrs lately, (wink). I have a "stalker" right now, no friend, no follower. Not sure how, when, where I picked them up. They seem to access my farm trough FB activity log. They get everything as soon as I put it up. No way I could do anything about it. I don't mind if ppl buy stuff, even all of it, but I felt like being constantly under watch and making stuff for them exclusively. An hour ago, I put up some goodies, marked a tree as well and I think they got carried away and retrieved it. I now have access to them for the very first time through the last helpers tab. I might make sure to return the past favors ;)

I usually give a follower a few days to figure things out on their own before I delete them for raiding my RSS. I also take into account their level before i delete them. If they are level 40 or above, I feel like they've been around the block long enough to know that it's just not polite to raid someone's RSS. The follower that i deleted was a level 73 and literally wiped out my last unadvertised RSS for the day for 6 days in a row. I actually lost long time followers because of this one person. Im not one of those people that looks for the attention and tries to get as many followers and "likes" as possible. I value my followers because I truly like to help people out as much as I can. I advertise everything I list throughout the day and usually wait about an hour or so before I upload my last RSS for the day, which I don't advertise. But if I advertise my RSS, heck yeah I welcome a raid! Lol. As for feeling bad about raiding someone's RSS, it's really no biggie. We've all been there and done that many times!:p

P.s. One of my BIGGEST pet peeves is when I have a follower that continuously raids my RSS, and then I go look at THEIR RSS and they have turned around and uploaded EVERYTHING that they JUST raided from me. Seriously. :(

If you are selling below max and this person is reselling at max, then they are using one of the recommended methods of making a profit. If they are selling at the same price as you, then they may see it as redistributing the items to make them available to their own neighbors. It could be partly to ensure they can sell appropriate stuff to encourage their neighbors to stay connected, or it could be like the land expansion fairy godmothers who buy LEMs so they can give it to someone who they think may need it and they can't make enough themselves. Also think, they must produce and sell a lot on their own to make the money to buy stuff to redistribute plus fill boats and trucks. No one watches their stalls and farms all day long so it's unknown what they are or are not doing.

Whatever their reason for buying and how much they buy, it's their business and not anyone's place to say what they can and cannot buy and what they can and cannot do with their purchases, just as they don't have the right to tell anyone else what to do.

We have the option to delete neighbors when their way of play interferes with our way and, now, we can do the same with followers. No need for everyone to continue with the so called "raiding" issue, on this or any other thread, since the delete options put a halt to the majority of that. Yes, there are still some loopholes so it's not all hunky dory for those that are bothered by this issue.

This thread was holding on so nicely for a while but I've no choice when it gets to this point but to close it. :(
