My troops don't fight when village is attacked

I'm new to clash of clans and I'm not sure why my troops dont defend my village when being attacked.... I watch the replays and my defenses work...I don't see any of my troops though

they are not supposed to.

only clan castle troops will defend.

Hi welcome to the forums,

your troops dont defend your village, they are only used for attacking.

Defenses are your line of defense. There is an exception though with the clan castle.

If you rebuild it, join a clan, and get people to donate troops or you, they can defend your village when being attacked.
