I'd better state outright that I don't use hogs myself, otherwise I'll probably just get labelled as a hogger with highly subjective views.
This is a really bad argument. If you for one reason or another have zero CC troops, sleeping heroes and no traps you will have a hard time winning the defence regardless of what's attacking you - even a skilled barcher with spells can probably 2-star you then.
I think you're wrong about this, anti-hog bases isn't "proof" as you call it that there is an issue. It's proof that hog riders are the only ground troops which can jump walls and target defenses. Because of that, you can't treat them like barbarians or giants, or any other troop for that matter. They're simply unique in how they work, and THAT is why you need to use alternate base designs if you want to defend better against them, just like you would build a base with centrailzed ADs and x-bows pointing up if you were constantly getting ballooned to death.
If you are getting attacked by lvl100s (TH9 or 10, most probably) as a TH8 you will probably get your 3 hearts handed to you pretty much regardless of what army comp they use, if they have some form of clue about what they are doing. It's not just the hogs, it's brute force.
So with that, try an anti-hog design with well-placed traps. If you're too lazy to use a design aimed at cracking the AI of a troop which behaves differently than other troops, then that's your problem and not the troop being OP.
