I was trading with someone and when I put my items up they were bought by an unknown person. I put the wheat up the person I had agreed with bought the wheat but then unknown guy intercepted the bolts. My question is do I alone share the loss of the bolts. I am sure some here have also experienced this and want to know the rule most abide by.
i have this problem too, apparently wheat 1 is known code as trading is currently on progress, some people also know this code and quietly waiting for the trade item and swoop in, if their internet connection is better they will get the item. the best way to minimize this kind of threat is to make sure your stall not have any adver item and put another code, like bacon and egg or egg.
me and my friend lost 10 duct tape because of this. can't blame anyone. lol

The person buying first always has the upper hand and because I'm usually higher leveled, I get to go first. However, I'm always up for sharing losses. I think splitting down the losses in the middle is the fair thing to do if both sides did their best. However, if the hiccup occurred in their shop and it was because they had an advert running, that's 100% their fault and depending on my mood and what we were trading, I may or may not decide to share losses.
It's happened to me and as it was my follower I took the loss - and then deleted them.
Did you forget to remove the advertising tick? That's the most common mistake made, if you did forget, as it's your mistake you should definitely bare the cost of it.
oh, just realised it was their shop. Unless you took a long time to buy, they should have at least shared the cost I think. I suspect they left the tick on for the ad. Nothing you can do now, you can't name and shame, but I would delete them as a friend if I were you and not trade with them again.
That happened to me, I put one wheat in my last crate this was bought by my friend after agreeing to let her have 10 planks then I put 10 planks in the last crate, quick as lightening they were grabbed by some else, another friend.
I can only assume she must have read the post and waited for the wheat to be bought and as soon as I placed the planks she grabbed them before my first friend had a chance to buy them.
The strange thing was she deleted me as a friend before I had the chance to delete her!
It happened to me, in one of my first trades. It's always a risk when you trade with someone who has a lot of followers. You never know who might be lurking.
I think the guy I was trading with blamed me. He thought I ran out of space in my barn. Not true; I had plenty of space. I just did not see the 10 planks until someone else had grabbed them. (I think the problem is with the Hay Day server. I'm upstream of NYC, and sometimes Hay Day gets laggy, even though my Internet connection is rated A+ by Speedtest.net. Sometimes there's a traffic jam in the information superhighway between me and them.)
Anyway, he asked me to split the loss. I asked him for one more plank, just because I needed one more for the next expansion. He agreed. So I got 11 planks for 15 bolts, instead of the 20 for 20 I thought I was getting. He got 15 bolts for 21 planks. I guess he was okay with it, because we've traded again since.
It's only a game, and it's not worth creating bad feelings over. There will always be more planks and bolts. Even though sometimes it doesn't seem like it. ;-)
In your case it does sound like it was intentional. However, when I'm quickly cruising through all my friends shops I'm guilty of tapping on a crate before considering what position that crate is in. I've had to start reminding myself to slow down and make sure I'm not swiping someone's trade. I just wanted to point out that it can be unintentional, although no less frustrating.Quote:

If I didn't HAVE the items they were supposed to get then I would either (1) ask them to come up with an acceptable alternative, or (2) I would offer them back their original items. Again, I'd arrange to do this a few hours later.
If I was the first person to place an item and it was intercepted, I would explain that to my trade partner, and then reconsider based on my on inventory if I still wanted to trade or not.
BUT, in each of those situations, I don't feel like the farmer who was supposed to get the bolts is responsible for someone else taking them.
