Go up to Gold III or II.

My advice to you is to put everything you can into getting level 5 archers, giants and barbs and move up in cups to start farming other th8 bases and premmie Th9's. Th 5 and Th6 are not really your farming targets anymore unless they are inactive with easy to get at collectors. A good range once you get some of the Level 5 farming troops would be around 1500, although you should move around a bit to see what best sites your attacking style. There are a lot of really good farming guides on this forum take some time to find and read them, they really helped me.
Th8 will take you a few months to get through so dont worrie too much about a few bad days at the begining, it will get better for you I promise.

I second that.
Get your achers, barbs, wallbreaks and giants up to level 5, get your rage spells going and upgraded.
Then learn how to farm on TH7, TH8 and premmie TH9 and TH10.
Learn how to farm their storages in the middle of their bases.
The Gold leagues are a good hunting ground for TH8, from 1400 to 2000 cups.
Of course the game requires new skills the more you advance in it...it would be boring if it didn't....
It's a strategy game. Your situation has changed with advancing to TH8, so you need to find new strategies to deal with it :)

1300-1400 I'm th9 and i average 200k gold raids
Minions, barbarians and archers (BAM) + rage spell
It's a quick army to build and even if you have low level troops, you will still be able to grab loot. Without rage spell you will be able to raid every 20-25 mins, so if you have a bad raid, its not long before you can try again.
I basically queue all archers in two rax and all barbs in remaining rax. I dont worry about numbers of each troop and use rage spells when minions have cracked the centre. RuthlessBarbarian has a very good guide on BAM army. The other thing to note, dont worry about trophies, just keep raiding - also beef up your defences as soon as you can before you choose to log off with large quantities of res - you are a juicy target!
