Hey folks, I'm a early-to-middle TH9, and my base has got to a point where I'm considering upgrading my x-bows from level 1. All of my splash defenses are/will be maxed by the time the X-bows are up for question. Should I double down and max them both back-to-back? Should I save the level 3 upgrade for later? What did you guys do?

Upgrading xbows helps a lot. ;)
I think that they should be upgraded to lvl 2 when splash is maxed. And 3 when maxing other defences
I am currently doing both of mine to Lvl 2. They were the 1st thing I did & almost immediately upgraded them to Lvl 2 when they had finished building. IMO they're slightly more important than splash at Th9 so I did them first. I aim to get them both to lvl 3 as fast as I can before anything else.Quote:

My suggestion would be to get them over with ASAP and don't look back.
3 is a huge step over 1 and 2. Level 4 is not a huge upgrade over 3. I suggest doing them ASAP to 3 as they are the best defensive structure you have at th9. Also, don't discount the intimidation of double black bows.

With weak lvl1 xbows you are more likely to get rolled by a higher lvl player.
Lvl3 xbows are lvl6 giant killers. When set to air and ground they do well against balloonians and mass drags.

Honestly, I think the biggest priorities are offensive things like army camps and lab when hitting th9. Lvl6 troops are, in a word, awesome!
As far as defense is concerned, xbows should be the priority IMHO. Next would be wiz twrs, CC, and teslas. Lvl7 mortars are marginally better than lvl6. Point defense becomes increasingly more important.
This is all assuming that first you bring your new defensive structures up to par, max th8 lvl, before maxing wizzies, teslas, etc.
Start xbows as soon as you can once hitting th9, and keep two builders on them til they're lvl3.
There is no right or wrong way. But, hearing what others have been through really helps in making decisions. I've learned a lot from this forum.

True, there is no perfect path.
Of course, there will always be things that you will need to upgrade, like heroes, DE drills/storage, etc.
But, I think I've managed just fine with 4 builders. :)
I was lucky or stupid enough to not upgrade mines and collectors past lvl7. Now it's really convenient because I am upgrading them while waiting those long 10-14 day upgrade times for the more "important" stuff.
To me, this is the appeal of the game. Strategies are constantly evolving.

Alright, I uploaded my base, so does the advice change at all now that you've seen where things stand?
I never got to see mine attack at level 1 and 2, always upgrading til 3
