Gems. Your opinion?

Ahh. Everyone's favorite subject. Gems. An evil creation by our friends at SC to get us to spend all of our money on the game. I spent $40 within two weeks of getting the game to get builders and upgrade stuff, but haven't spent money since.
While most people think Gemmers are idiots who shouldn't play the game, I like them. You see, since this is a free game, there would be no way for SC to make money. Without money, they wouldn't be able to keep the servers running and be able to pay the employees. So, they created gems, something rich people or little kids can spend large amounts of real life money on for their own satisfaction (and a maxed out base).
In my opinion, I do not personally like gems, as I have better things to spend money on, like food and bills, but I am OK with people gemming because this makes the game free for me.

I don't buy gems because i can't justify the spending.

As for play style, i treat every player the same way, regardless of whether their gameplay is influenced by gem usage or not.

Nothing wrong with gemmers,

I love gemmies. (Im not a gemmer tho.)

Gemmers just give you people to try to beat

I agree 99.74%. CoC is game where everything is achievable without spending a dime. I really see no point to gemming; however, I always thank the gemming community because there would be no updates without them ;)

Everyone spends time or money. As your life changes time becomes much more valuable.

I look at it like this....some weeks I might spent 40 bucks on Starbucks coffee....(full-time college student), so what I do is take a week off of the coffee and spend 25 bucks on the game....works out nice:eek:

He has spent well over a dime. I'm not trying to take away from his accomplishments but he does boost barracks quite frequently. (Even before the boost event)

He's been playing, since what, like August? He hit 2 bil in December, 4 months of playing. Even if his barracks were constantly boosting, it would only take maybe 13-15 months to do what he's done so far, that's someone who started in September- November 2012

I've been playing this game for a year now (wow!), and I've spent a total of $360 on it.

I play it every day, and to me, a year of entertainment is worth that much.

To each his own, but without gemmers there would be no Clash of Clans.

its still possible. Ive seen th9s in champ, ive seen fully maxed out th9s without gems (Except for builders, of course) But it is still possible if you play the game 24/7:eek:

That's quite the response....do you read only Disney books or perhaps you meant to be a jerk?:confused:

I personally bought up to 5 builders a week after I played when I realized I was hooked. after that purchase, I spent 5 dollars probably every month.

I've gemmed my Barbarian King and two Builder huts. I intend to gem my Archer Queen too. The way I see it, a video game normally costs about £35, therefore I have a budget of £35 over the life of the game. Considering buying a big bunch of gems to barrakcs boost and help me grind wall also.

Encourage gem buying so we can loot preemies and keep the game running.
