Hello dear residents of the Clash community,
I been secretly working on a project and been too shy to announce it in fear of it getting abandoned halfway for whatever reason. Now I finally feel it’s at a stage that could potentially be useful for those that's adventurous,, so I’m ready to let it out and ask for feedback/suggestion/ideas for next steps.
The project is code named "Clasher City" and my 5 seconds elevator pitch is: "Powering clan interactions for Clash of Clans lovers!".
The project is inspired by the following events/issues i encountered as a very ordinary clasher:
- I enjoy raiding gold, but I enjoy my clan mates more. I only grind those walls so that I can show if off.
- I want to stay updated with my clan mates, but the chat only keep the most recent messages.
- I can't raid during work, but want to hang out and chat a little here and there, but I get a lot of glares when I have my game open all the time
- I want to connect with my clan mates, but is too paranoid to use my Facebook account, coz my real life friends/family might know the amount of time i put into the game.
- The forum is a great place to social, but also has many trolls and complains. :(
- The forum is sooo sooo hard to navigate on my phone, and break on my chrome all the time. :(
- When I helped to recruit for my clan, it was tough to differentiate ourselves and to find good people
- When I was clanless a while back, it was tough to tell which clan would fit me better
- When I was a elder, we needed a way to communicate to each other and talk about behind the scene business
- When I was a elder, we wanted to find ways to promote the activity and get people more engaged
- And a whole bunch more that I can't recall for now..
Sooooo,, I'm hoping to make something to address these. And as someone who works in software development, and have had experience making forum software and mobile apps,
Clasher City is a natural birth..
Now, it can’t do too much yet, but I feel it’s a good starting point to be useful for the adventurous groups who enjoys bleeding edge that’s literally bleeding and isn’t afraid of getting burned for the taste of fresh cookie just got out of the oven, Clasher City supports these for now :
- Create a clan wall for all clan members to communicate in
- Set the clan wall to be closed, invite-only or open
- Join a existing clan,
- Create unlimited number of post and comment on the wall,
- All posts support text, link, video and up to 10 images
- Promote/Demote a clan members to elder/owner
- Currently only an iPhone app, working on a iPad version. There is also a web version for the android folks.. But it’s terribly broken, you probably wouldn’t want to go there
These things are being worked on to make it more useful:
- Support iPad
- A dedicated Elder discussion wall for each clan
- Push notification for new comment on your post, and member joining/leaving clan
- A invitation code system to ease the friction to bring clan mates on-board
- Simplify the sign up process and make email/password optional
- Like comment/post
Other stuff that could promote community building, friends making, and a better clashing experience, but will probably take a while to be turned into reality,,
- A Hall of fame for each clan
- Fix the web for the android folks
- Hot clans that capture the activity of the clan to help people determine which clan is more socially active/fit their own level when looking for a clan
- A clan map that highlights where most members are from
