is fish the new cream and sugar?

Since i got the sushi bar i have been struggling with the inability to keep fish in stock.

At first i thought it was a bad strategy from me since before that machine i had no interested on fishing, them i got the fish soap and all the suddenly i have 0 fish stock, 0 fish soaps and 0 fish burgers and all products that need fish.

Then on the last 15 days i started noticing that more and more of my friends ask for help on fish boats.
At the moment, i'm writing, i would need around 50 fish just to help all the request i have from friends and that is not counting my needs.

I also notice that i can find sugar and/or cream, not often but can, on the DD ,but fish is like the "holly grail".

Anyone notice or has this impression also?

Fish has been rare for a while now, pretty much started with the lobsters...

Now there is just so much products that need fish as ingredients, they also added fish and lobster to boats making it even worse. As of right now, the shoup kitchen and sushi bar is consuming most fish. It will however get a bit better at 63 when you can make egg sushi but before that fish will be hard to manage.

Fishing is of course by line or net. Dunno which is better, but the 2 different ways just fill different achievement and mastery goals. You can only get so much fish per time period. I agree that the HD crew is inventing machines that need more fish leaving you with less in stock. One added difficulty is that the sushi shop is frustrating in the way that it'll take a loooong time to master, the extra need for fish and lobster will be for a long time. I don't think it'll replace sugar and dairy shortage, because so many more things need them. Good luck in your helping and gathering fish.

Edit: Mindstormer - Great observation about the scarcity when lobsters were added. It put pressure on the fishing area!

That makes a huge difference, egg sushi has become my best friend to keep the sushi bar rolling :rolleyes:

Yes, I've seen sugar in the DD lately too, and even managed to be quick enough to buy some! Supercell must've tweaked the parameters slightly. About time, I say.

I've never got any surplus fish, even without putting any in boat crates (something I won't do). My sushi machine won't even be up and running until later on this evening so heaven help me when that gets going.

Yes, I've noticed it's becoming more difficult staying stocked up on fish. I had 5 friends yesterday that had fish boats flagged. I have always been willing to fill a crate for them them but it would have wipes out my fish. So I chose not to help this time :( I'm thinking that fish boats might be something I no longer help with.

I am so sorry I don't mean to correct you OP. It took me a while to realize that fish soap was in fact fish soup. I was looking around the farm wondering when did we started making soaps, and fish soap is kinda gross lol.

I have stopped gathering lobster and only gather fish. I use only nets unless there is an open slot due to temporarily running out of nets. Then I fish using free worms until the net maker catches up.

I also trash all orders and boats with lobster or lobster ingredients, unless by some miracle I have found products for sale and grabbed them. Sometimes I use tom to get fish burgers or fish and chips, but not often.

i gather usually 6 to 12 fish at a time, immediately put it all into the machines that make fish products, with a goal of 10 of each product on hand at any time. Until I get to that point I probably will continue to cast off boats and trash orders calling for that fish product, and as I said, I never fill orders for plain fish or plain lobster.

long term, once I get my fish products under control, I will likely switch to lobster for a while, not sure if that will work, though.

this is working pretty good right now, just started this strategy a few days ago and already I am able to fill a few more orders/boats. But really, since I can get better prices in the RSS, I might just start selling all my overage in there and ignore fish based truck/boat orders forever.

actually we need a lot more fishing spots at the pond.

I am always struggling to have enough fish. Of the last six boats, three required fish. Lots of fish. Two required a fish product (fortunately, unlike fish slabs, the crate capacity for fish products is low so I had stock). Got another fish slab boat on the way that will be cast off empty. Little hope of getting any in the DD, and I won't have 24 in my barn by arrival time.

Sugar, soy sauce, syrup are no problem. It's the fish for me.
