My point exactly, why waste goods on someone who doesn't care when you are sure to find someone who does care you can help to complete a boat.

i am on your page. She is my daughter, but when I see her crates flagged, before I fill them I call to ask her if she intends to finish the boatload if the request is for something rare or difficult. (Hanging head in shame....). Stuff like jam and fish is too hard to get, and if it really doesn't matter to a potential recipient, I'd just as soon hang onto it. But I will give my last one to a friend or neighbor if I thought they needed it to complete their boatload. Sometimes it is difficult to know.
When I first repaired my dock and the boat started arriving, I was still pretty poor and was focused on making money to purchase machines, and I followed the excellent advice on this forum and focused on RSS sales, ignoring truck and boat orders. A long-time player told me that even if I didn't want to fill my boat, it was considered courteous to flag crates for help for those players who were going for their Co-op achievement. So that's what I did for quite a while! Some time later another long-time player asked why I never filled my boats and I told her. She didn't say that I shouldn't flag any crates if I wasn't going to fill my own, but I sensed that perhaps my good intentions might not be appreciated after all!
Now that I'm rich in coins but limited in barn space (always!) I too only fill boats if the player is obviously making an effort. I'll leave their flagged crates for others who may be working on their Co-op achievement. I don't need boat points any more, have my BSH, but enjoy filling my boats and helping others as much as I can. I always open 1 of each crate for my neighbours - whether they're "easy" or "hard" - but if they aren't filled within 15 minutes or so I'll fill those too if I can. I figure that with some help from my neighbours (even if I don't need it) I have more product to help others - plus my neighbours might want the points from filling crates or just get pleasure from helping, as I do.
I do help with sugar, dairy, jam, fish, lobster, soy sauce - anything! - if I'm able to do so. I find the ever-lengthening list of crates that some players refuse to fill kind of amusing, to be honest. But, hey, whatever floats your boat! :)
I don't hesitate to cast boats off empty. I pretty much Never fill Jam boats or Dairy boats.
The one thing that bothers me for some reason is seeing boats with no crates filled at all but already asking for help on three of those crates. It's like they are saying "if someone fills these three crates, then I will try to fill this boat." Don't know why it bothers me, but I never help boats I find like that...
I don't do it, lol! I was just trying to envision scenarios where someone might have an otherwise empty boat sitting at their dock, as someone else was discussing. I like filling boats :D
Eta: Hogfan, I do that sometimes. Usually I'm just in a hurry to get them flagged for people, then get back to whatever else I had been working on. But I always fill them.
I am a level 64 player who plays the game daily. I guess I am in a small minority, in that I have never waved off a boat and have never failed to completely fill the boat. Sometimes with help, sometimes with Tom, but most times on my own. Tom did help a lot when i used to get those double orders of soy (24 soy). I learned to always keep at least 20 in the barn. Glad those days of double orders are over.
i help many neighbors and strangers by keeping a well stocked barn. I always have helped, since I started getting boats. I achieved BSH III very early, compared to others. Whenever I would go to the Boat Score points board, I was always between people that were 5 to 10 or more levels above me.
i enjoy filling crates for others, especially neighbors. Sometimes I even do sugar and dairy for neighbors. I have gone out to DD and bought stuff just to fill other peoples boats. The rare times that I need help, my neighbors are there in a heartbeat. It pays to have friends and neighbors that are equally as active in the game as I am.
Since I am constantly buying, selling, and expanding --- despite being a very active player and playing more than I should every day .... I only today achieved 1,000,000 coins. But it only lasted about 20 seconds, because DD had 5 planks and 6 bolts at full price. I also have one more lobster pool upgrade left, so that will eat up 100,000+ coins!
I'm level 32. Right now, I don't care about leveling. I want to make gold to be able to buy machines ASAP. I just leave my boats sitting there idling. I've considered flagging easy crates for people after the co-op achievement with a farm name of "don't fill boats". It's my way to help people with achievements and xp. When I do want to fulfill boats, I flag easy stuff that gives lots of xp because I don't want that xp.
