I'm the same with sushi. I was so excited the other day when a friend needed sushi on their boat lol because I have a little supply of it, but I hardly get boats for it. I put it in my shop, but it doesn't sell as fast as other items. My sushi machine sits idle a lot because the ones I have in the barn don't move very quickly. I guess I will start advertising sushi in the paper haha.Quote:

i try hard to fill all my boats, but I do cast off most dairy and fish. I just can't keep up with those.

I think this is a little misguided. I fill crates so that the person can complete their order. If I see a boat where the farmer hasn't made an attempt to fill even one crate themselves, I will not fill a crate, even if I have stock available, especially if, after scanning their farm I judge that they aren't even producing the product. I would rather save my produce in case I come across someone who is really trying to complete a boat order and I can help them cast off. I consider it a waste of my produce to fill a crate on a boat that isn't going to earn the farmer boat points. After all, the payment is usually low, so you aren't doing me any favours asking me to fill a crate on a boat you know you can't complete. My goods are better off elsewhere.Quote:

I've never had a boat go partially-filled, so I don't know: if you fill a crate, and get your 1-3 boat points for helping, and the owner isn't able to fill the rest of the boat (for whatever reason), the game doesn't take away your 1-3 points, right? I can envision someone opening crates for neighbors to earn their couple of points even if they themselves aren't sure or don't plan on finishing all the crates.
That just seems too altruistic for words. If you do that, then you have to sit and wait for 20 Hours until you have the opportunity to fill another boat, 16 hours before you even know what to produce for that boat! That just seems like bad boat management to me. Why would you penalise yourself in this way just to give complete strangers an opportunity to earn a few boat points?Quote:

I usually fill boats myself. Many times I will let a boat I am going to cast off (because of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ed orders) sit for the entire time in the dock. I simply ignore it and get my stock built up in my barn. I like to have 15 of everything. Then when I do cast it off or it sails away, I have a good stocked barn of items I will be able to fill a boat with that I want to fill. I don't like feeling that foolish stress of tapping the dock to find out what is coming and then rushing to make the stuff in time. I myself prefer to enjoy playing, not stress it. I have a rule that if I am going to tackle a boat, I must cast it off within 15 minutes of it docking. The rule breaks only when real life calls or an accidental tap. I would say 90% of the boats I tackle are sent off within my 15 minute time frame. Yesterday a boat was sent full less than 2 minutes after it docked. I timed it. Gotta love the points from those boats!

that is different, if you start a boat intending to fill it and RL intervenes. I think the only objection is to those who open crates for help NEVER intending to fill a single crate.Quote:

Some people aren't concerned about the boat score at all. I have never had a boat go partially filled, tho I have sent my share of them off empty at arrival if they seem impossible. This is a part of the game I focus on and I enjoy watching my boat score advance. But my daughter, who is a fanatical truck filler, doesn't care about the boat aspect of the game. She fills what crates she can, opens crates sometimes for others to fill if they wish, and if she can she will fill the remaining crates within the allotted hours, but she isn't driven to do it and has let many boats sail away partially empty. She doesn't see it as a penalty, it is just not important to her.Quote:
