IRL I train horses for a living so safety and functionality are important to me when tending animals. I want them close by so I can see from the house if there's a problem, and I don't want to walk too far for chores. With the predator problem on my Hay Day farm (foxes) I decided to keep all my animals protected in a compound behind the house. Also, my attack cat is always on patrol.
I used to have ponds and trees set up to look like a long creek and I will again after my next expansion. (I've been waiting on one #*!%^¥}! land deed for a while now.)
My machines are spaced far enough apart for walking paths to each of them because I don't like walking in the mud.
I don't have statues, hedges, or fancy walls, and the many flowers are mostly hidden, as are any topiaries and deco items. Things peek out from behind bushes, trees, and machines, but they are not obvious. A lot of native trees remain, joined by bearing trees, and berry bushes, coffee beans are stuffed in wherever. Until the last two updates there were six pieces of land still undeveloped; now there are three. My farm is full - in my eyes gloriously full, to others maybe it appears chaotically so. I like it. I enjoy seeing the variety of farm styles and appreciate the effort that goes into them. Some are amazing displays of artistic glory, some admirable examples of organization. It's fun to see them all.
my farm has to make sense to me... as in I have to be able to "access" everything and walk around without bumping into tall ungainly gold statues of pigs or golden walls or oddly shaped topiary trees.
I'm sure many of you would think my farm "busy", but for me, if I were standing at the back door of my house, I can see and get to everything quickly... and if at the front, I can see and tend to my guests. I figure if I can live and work there comfortably, then I'm happy :)
Lol - I set my farm up like this on purpose because I like how it looks. I'm so glad I didn't clear cut my farm, and am vainly resisting clearing any more (even though I realize I'm going to have to eventually). I like the semi-wild look; the perfectly arranged feel makes me twitchy - too "city" for me. I have learned to appreciate some really nicely arranged farms like that though.
I like your farm, for the reason that I have to hunt for what needs watering sometimes, haha.
Sometimes, I cant see what needs help on a friends farm, so I just start randomly clicking around and a few times I've actually hit the shrub that's been marked lol
i do like the farms that have it all bunched together and no particular order. I would like to do that to my farm, but I just can never seem to. I guess mine is orderly. I don't think it's overcrowded, but it guess some might. I have lots of trees, because I would love to own property covered with lots of trees. I tried to make a nice backyard behind my house.
i have an okay sized area for my pets and I still have room for the 1 machine I have left to buy.
Hi Perkycox, I had heard of your wedding chapel, from Lady Jem, I think, and have been meaning to ask you about it. We think that there is going to be a rash of engaged couples seeking a wedding venue after Lady Jem's Valentine's Day Soirée, and your chapel would be the first choice for many. Perhaps you could drop by the New Year's Party thread to discuss, please?
My farm is probably crammed to many other people because I LOVE to decorate. It could've been even more crowded but I spaced out my machines some but that takes away plot space so I might have to rethink that. The right side of my farm is crammed but the left is more spaced out because that's where I have my plots & production machines. I don't have every single spot on my farm filled because that would drive me crazy with everything crammed together. I really wish SC would put out an outdate to give us more land to expand. It's interesting to read everyone's point of view & why they feel that way.
Most of my machines are set out along the road so that weary travellers, or Sunday drivers can stop and have an ice cream, or a glass of raspberry mocha or sit at the picnic table and eat their sandwiches or salad while enjoying a freshly squeezed juice. At the moment, I am hosting a Winter carnival where visitors can buy toffee apples, popcorn or other baked goods while enjoying strolling around the fair grounds. Natural trees provide shade for them, there are benches and flower beds. I think it's definitely a destination.
