If your clan is outmatched, maybe you should consider dropping a tier or two to get clans that are around your strength. Or, you could try and push everyone in your clan to strategically rush to be more competitive in your tier.
The last three cwl we have had 3-4 clans not attacking much and it becomes stupid and time consuming to try to drop a league we placed 5th with 80 star last league

Consider the scenario where your clan forfeits on first day because of being outmatched.
How do you handle your day 1 opposing clan now having had one more war to score stars than the other 6 clans?
More generally: how do you make sure a forfeit option isn't misused for match fixing?
SC has always said it’s about offense not defense. It would not change the forfeiting clan would still be attacked and killed by overmatched opposition. The only difference would be the mismatched clan could then go on and play regular cw instead of watching the unfair match for 7 days before it could war again. They would simply not attack (as many do now) but be able to got start a regular war
Start a mini clan, go there to do regular war. Return when CWL over. Problem solved. You’re welcome.
If you are way overmatched, focus on everyone getting their 8 stars.
If they added a forfeit option, it would rob many of the clan mates the option to try because one person decided it was too hard.
We had 5 of 30 people get more than 4 stars I guess we are not clear there was ZERO chance of people getting 7 stars th9 against th13 they creamed us AND ALSO most of out members got zero stars in their attacks. It deprives our members of hating sc for a week that’s all
Not signing up in the first place seems to be the best option, since its such a terrible ordeal..
Those opposition rosters are only going to get bigger season on season..
You have the option to sign up, then move to a mini for the week to do regular, but the clan tag is locked into cwl for the week..
They dont have a problem with player tags doing cwl in one clan and regular in another, so it isnt about people being robbed of war options..
There is more likely a coding problem that wont allow clans to do both simultaneously..
But as said, there are still options.. CWL isnt mandatory.
