I Have a New Farm...And I Don't Like It!

I got my husband an android tablet for Christmas, it's kinda cool. But, my husband is gone 18 hours of the day, six days a week, so it's rare that he gets to use it. I've known that Hay Day was available for Android, so I bit the bullet a few days ago and got it. Talk about a shock to the system. I am currently in the fifties on the iPad, and let me tell ya, starting over was beyond weird. I don't have Facebook, so I can't get any neighbors, and Lord knows I love mine on the iPad. I'm only at Level 10, and cannot help anyone. I cannot figure out how on earth I've made it as far as I have on the iPad, because leveling up from the beginning is a pain. Geez. I don't even have enough money for the popcorn machine, and I'm just all around not enjoying it. Yet, I can get on my iPad farm and get a couple thousand XP in no time, lol. It's just crazy. I've even considered making a "fake" Facebook just to be able to make friends, lol. It's absurd. All those trees, a broken down dock, sealed off mine and rickety fishing boat make me sad. I obviously need a life, lol. The main reason I did it was because I wanted to see how long it would take me to catch up to my original farm, and from the looks of it, it's gone be a LONG time.

Has anyone else done this, and been shocked? lol

Oooh, I'd hate to have to start again. I've only been farming since just before Halloween so I can remember how hard it was to make any money. Always skint, could never buy machines when they were available, then when you could it totally wiped out the coin balance. Ugh!

Mind you, I've gone up to level 56 this evening and the 150,000 price tag of the sushi machine hurts!

Would make a fake fb account. I have fb but I mad a fake one for hayday just incase I need it. My husband uses an android and I use his farm for my storage since he didn't care for the game. Guess its a win, win for me.

I would LOVE to be able to start over because I would do things a lot differently. It's the curse of "if I only knew then what I know now". However, I don't know anything about the android so that's a different story. I keep thinking I should have an ipad to have the second farm but I can't justify spending money on one just to play Hay Day.

As it turns out, I no longer play Hay Day as much as I used to. Since Christmas I am barely on my farm. I keep meticulous track of what I produce with my machines and the diamonds I spend and my spreadsheet is bare! I'm almost to level 61 and feel so bored. Not even the machines that I still haven't got yet thrill me. I'd hoped we'd get land expansion again or something with the last update because I did enjoy decorating my farm, but there is no room to do anything cool. I myself don't like the farms that are packed. I would rather have a nice clean organized farm that is visually pleasing to my eye.

I can see myself saying goodbye to my farm soon if things continue to bore me and maybe checking back once in a while to see what's going on. A new farm would be a new challenge, but right now there is nothing keeping me playing much anymore.

Oh well, maybe something will come along in the next update soon.

My husband started his farm at Christmas time 2013. I have been playing since that time in 2012. It has been fun to see a new farm again and to remember how it used to be, tho he can run an ad every five minutes; it was half an hour for me. I enjoy watching how he handles the dilemma of no money but needing lots of things, no barn and silo space but can't find or afford upgrade materials. It was engaging back when, solving the problems.

i still enjoy playing, but wish we had more space and something special to strive for. I would not want to lose this farm and start over. Way too much effort has gone into it. I just hope new challenges await (not being broke again, or continually out of space--we have done that already). Something different.

I'm getting a Nexus 7 tablet this week, and am looking forward to starting over with a new farm. Because, like someone said, if I knew then what I know now...

In particular, I want to keep some of the trees and swamps, instead of clearing them all. (I kind of wanted to keep some with my first farm, and did for awhile, but eventually cleared all my land just to use up the saws and axes to make room in my barn.)

I'd also like to hold back on some things. The first time, I got all the machines and max animals as soon as I could. The sheep and pigs seem kinda useless. You can buy all the bacon and wool you want in DD.

I'll probably hold off repairing the boat ramp and boat, too, since filling boats and fishing aren't my favorite things to do.

And yeah, it's occurred to me that I could use the second farm as storage for the first, and also use it to make sugar and dairy for my first farm.

I started a new one on my husband's tablet - I don't think I'm going to get far lol
I far appreciate my old account much better!

I started a new farm on my Android last week (my original farm is on my iPad) just out of curiosity, to see if I could do better now I know more or less what I'm doing. I'm not sure how long I'll be able to keep it up though - one farm is plenty to keep you on your toes never mind two!

I love how different people view things totally differently .

Im at level 69 and I've got absolutely everything ! All the machines,all the land ,the BRT, god I've even got the elusive PEARL and I'm a millionaire :cool: Would I love to start all over again ? Too right I would !!!!!!!!!:cool:

My daughter got her farm on Christmas Day & it gave me such a buzz .
She even let me paint the the barn ! I was so more excited than she was.
Unfortunately ( for me )she's a very independent young teenager who wants to do everything for herself & can't be told anything, basically she knows it all. Hmmm don't know where she gets that from :p
She now just a few XP's away from lv 24 & done most if it with no help or advice from me .

I loved the old days on my farm, milking & feeding 1 cow at a time as my barn was so small & so full, searching for that axe to chop that dead berry bush down ( can't bear dead wood on my farm).Looking for people in the DD who were selling thing cheap so I could buy it, resell and make a profit. That's how I made my money in the early days.

I know people have said how stressful they found it looking for LEMS to expand their land . This used to be my favourite part of the game, it gave me such a massive buzz ,frantically searching through the DD & finally finding that last bolt I needed. I was elated when I'd expanded my last piece of land and yet also gutted that I wouldn't experience that buzz anymore.
The excitement of buying my ice cream maker and selling my very first ice cream at 172 coins I thought WOW that's a lot of money, now I can sell one seafood salad at 763 coins & when I put the ice cream up for sale I think " hmm I'm sure they used to be a lot more money ".

I didn't find this forum until I was at lv 50 -55 & had no FB friends ( and still don't ) , basically I farmed alone and without any help or supports . I've enjoyed and embraced every step I've taken on my farm & even more so since joining the forum.

To me my farming reflects my life.... I love getting older every day......because while ever I'm getting older I'm still ALIVE:cool:

Do I wish I was a millionaire in real life ? Of course I do , who wouldn't ! But it certainly doesn't stop me from being happy with what I've got right now :cool:
As for my farm, I enjoy it as much now as I did when I started, the only difference is that I have some wonderful forum friends to share it with:cool:

Small digression, Helen - is that the famous Christmas snow globe you now have as your avatar?

I put it on my mums galaxy when it first came out on android and to be honest I prefer it on my iPhone....also found out im getting an iPad for my 21st! :D I'm not quite sure what level mums on or even if she plays it lol :)

Helen, what a lovely, thoughtful post. I was interested to read how you farmed at the start. I barely remember. I do remember wanting to have as many flowers on the farm as possible. I think it was - make, make make, sell, sell, sell.

I have heard you say twice now about painting you barn. What do you mean?

When you first start your farm, you have to paint your barn. Just swipe over it, and it turns red.

You only do it once.

Would be neat if you could paint it different colors any time you wanted.

I have absolutely no recollection of doing that. Damn, thats a worry.

Yes it is the snow Globe GladeMaid & thank goodness my idea worked as unfortunately SC didn't have much of a Christmas Spirit after all & didn't replace it. We couldn't use the iTunes gift emailed from Australia as you can't redeem them in a different country from where you purchased it. Although he's now got a replacement one on his farm, bought from his Xmas iTunes card.

Also what I did notice..... When you start the game up for the very 1st time, one of the stalls advertises LEMONADE !!!

Oh, congrats on the upcoming birthday present! You're gonna love it. I play on iPad mini, can't imagine playing on anything smaller. So nice to have space for all the game elements. Nice birthday present!

I remember it well. HD was the first game I loaded onto my iPad Mini, and I was captivated from the moment I painted my house and barn.

Lemonade advertised? You mean in the RSS, Helen? Interesting. Lemon trees, very pretty, to borrow a line from an old song. I do hope you are right. I even have a place or a lemon orchard right by my house. I was wondering what to do with it. I hope the next update comes soon and has lemon trees and a sparkly brooch for us. (Have you been by to support this suggestion in the ideas forum, yet? If not, please do.)

No I've not seen it advertised. When my daughter downloaded HD and it started up , it showed some of the animals & there was a stall or wagon :confused: On the side if it it said lemonade . To be honest it was the first thing that jumped out at me , mainly because we don't have it. I meant to do a thread about but was distracted , well it was Christmas Day :cool:
Lemon trees would be fab on the farm , especially the vibrant yellow colour, we could even make lemon curd & lemon drizzle cake hmmm think I will nip over to the ideas forum, although I was aiming for an early 💤💤💤💤💤💤

The first time I saw it I thought icky gross. LOL. Then I got to paint the house/silo/barn, the house got windows, the chickens laid eggs (yep the chicken came before the egg). I'm laughing at this Bestajunior, I bet like me, you can remember sooo much from the early day. I bet if I asked you to re sight every cake, pie , juice or fruit tree on your farm you could do, if I asked you to describe the lay out of your farm, you'd describe it to a t. But on the other hand could you re sight what you did ( well apart from playing HD) 2 or 3 days ago. Hmmmmm tricky ..... I know where my thoughts are ...always:cool:

So, I'm working really hard on my new farm. I just wanted to know what y'all would do. What to repar first and all that good stuff. Should I do the docks, or the mine? Maybe the fishing area? I know they all come at different levels, but when you're not making a lot of money in the beginning, it will be awhile before I can do anything to either. I only have 5 cows and 6 chickens, don't have enough money for a pig yet, but I don't plan on buying a lot of animals in the beginning because like all have said,they're really a pain and the stuff is available in the DD. so, I'm at level 10, broke as a joke (33 coins ATM), and halfway to level 11. ny suggestions that y'all would do if you started over?

If i get too start new i would wait with the mine even longer.... I would do as i have now took breaks and just focused on making money.... But fishing and dock.... Maybe a bit longer or maybe not not sure... As for animals 1 chickens pen and two cows the rest one of each u can find it in DD so u dont need more im at 36 atm

Hi 00redsvt , how exciting to be at level 10 ! At the lower levels ( and please don't take offence at that ) it's all about money and what I'd recommend is that you look for people in the DD who are selling stuff really cheap. Tag them as a friend & buy what ever you can from them then resell at full price. You need your money to buy the machines when you level up, as your truck orders will start asking for the products . As for the animals I bought all of them, when I had enough money. Yes you have to spend money to buy them, but theres no cash lay out for the crops to make the feed ( which you can sell at max price ) . :cool:

I'm starting a new farm tonight, on a new device. The first time through I concentrated on making money and expanding as fast as I could.

That is a good way to play, but this time I'm going to do it differently. I want to go slow. Not chop down all my trees or expand all my land, at least not right away. I'm not going to max out my animals and machines right away. (Probably won't even keep pigs or sheep. Bacon and sweaters are pretty boring, IMO.)

Of course, it's easy for me to say that now that I've seen what's on the higher levels.

Also, this time through I'll know to price building materials, dairy, and sugar at max price. And not to make bacon and eggs. ;-)

I'm also curious if my new farm will have tons of bolts and hardly any planks, like my old one.

Well, I have started a new farm on my Galaxy and have just made it to level 24, been playing for a few weeks though, not every day at first, but when I got to the level with the Fortune wheel I had to lol. Now I play a couple of times a day on it and concentrate on making money, make sell, make, sell, everything. Now I have just bought the mine and still have 10000 coins. It is fun starting over, the reason I am doing it, I have spent real money on diamonds on my IPad level55 farm and have been curious how long it takes without spending a dime of real money, it can be done, I have 12 diamonds and still plenty of coin at this stage.
I have created a Facebook page for Hay Day only, the friends I have are mainly Asian and pretty useless, as they are never playing at the same time and hardly ever have anything for sale. The only real friend I have is my level 55 farm :( got a couple of watchers and they are good though, plus if you need help on the boat, it pays to sell something in the DD, that really helps, I have done the Captain III not turbo trucker anything yet though, that's gonna be a lot harder lol

I like having friends in Asia. Works great for trades. I get up at 5:30 in the morning for work. I can trade with them then. It's early evening for them. And it's a quiet time for me. Usually not a lot of people playing then, which minimizes drive-bys. And I don't have to wind down my RSS preparing for a trade as I do when trading in the evening.

I'm thinking about starting a new/second farm, if nothing else just for the extra storage. I have a couple of concerns though and do not want to lose my current farm. I've spent way too much time on it!

I play the same farm on 2 devices; Android tablet & Android phone. I have both logged into my Facebook and Google accounts. I prefer to play on the tablet because it isn't so cramped but its nice to have the phone to play on if I need to kill time and don't have the tablet with me. Anyway, I'm thinking as long as I keep my current farm logged in on one device I shouldn't lose it. Do I need to create another Facebook and another Google account?

I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts on this!

Sounds like you're doing well on farm 2. My big thing when I started (knowing nil and no-one), was the DD...over-buying and under-selling. Got too carried away with that side of it and found I got behind with my machines. That was a major pain to overcome!
Im sure you're aware, but doing your Turbo Trucker asap - while its easy as far as level/type of goods requested goes, would be my next move. The two 3's are the only real achievements that mean much IMHO. Assuming you have barn space?
Must be fun to have a "second go at it". Im only Level 41 and would like a re-do already! LOL

BTW - I personally find the timezone issue to be a big factor in this game.
When I log on...all the USA/UK folk have been, bought, sold, & gone!
Empty (greyed out) RSS's remain with row upon row of everything youve been needing/searching days for...all sold. Also no F&N to buy your goodies...all via DD only.
I find my regional 'neighbours' rarely put out anything other than bacon, eggs, b&e, or chilli popcorn. But they will buy absolutely anything and everything you put out!

I started my new farm last night. I am resisting using the diamonds to speed up production, as the scarecrow wants me to, as a demonstration. But he won't go away. Every time I put a new bread in to bake, he tells me to speed it up using a diamond. I ignore him. I wonder how long he'll keep trying. And what would happen if I spent all my diamonds, and couldn't use one to speed up the bread?

Everyone has great ideas and strategies for the second time around. I've only bought five of the cows and pigs, and six chickens. I have all the current machines now. I'm telling ya, nails and bolts are like unicorns this time around. My barn is only up to 100 and my poor silo is still at 50 (which is very hard to manage right now) I am making brown sugar and butter and selling like crazy. I'm a few dozen Xp away from level 11 and stil broke, lol. I am not selling anything to the little people. I have already decided that I'm not cutting all my trees this time around. At first I thought they looked horrible, but now I know that when I get my berry bushes and fruit trees, those axes and saws will come in handy. I am not selling any of my Bem/Sem right now cause they're so hard to come by right now. It's a mixture of excitement and frustration at this point, but I am having fun with it. Still not a single friend or follower, but I didn't have any on my other farm until pretty recently when I found this forum. So, I'm sure I will be okay.

i am interested to see the response to your question about the scarecrow. We learned if you keep ignoring him he will quit nagging about the boats and mine, but he was so relentless in the beginning about speeding up the bread, he got his way at the cost of two precious diamonds.

I didn't speed anything up, just let him sit there and when my eggs and bread were finished, he moved on to nagging me about other stuff.

I have sold all my inventory and now have enough for the pie maker, so I am now focusing on getting all my board orders ready so I can gain the xp to level up. Idk how everyone else feels about that strategy, but it was the best I could come up with since I didn't even have 40 coins at the time.

I am only clearing one side of my farm, and plan on squeezing as much over there as I can until I am able to expand the other side. Any tips on that? Should I do them all or just a few?

I am actually starting to take more interest in my new farm than my other one, and to think in the beginning I wanted nothing to do with it, lol.

I am only clearing one side of my farm, and plan on squeezing as much over there as I can until I am able to expand the other side. Any tips on that? Should I do them all or just a few?

I am actually starting to take more interest in my new farm than my other one, and to think in the beginning I wanted nothing to do with it, lol.

Being a greener than green Kiwi, I took the view right from the start that I would only cut down a tree or remove a pond or blow up a rock if it was absolutely necessary and I couldn't place a machine or larger deco item anywhere else. I have shade trees for my animals, and imaginary farm visitors to picnic under, and hide the machines I don't find visually appealing, which is most of them, behind trees. Now that the trees change colour, I love that I have original trees dotted around the farm.

I really need help with this one. I've made it to 14. After producing the pie oven, my funds are scarce. I've added and I need roughly 25,000 by level 17. I sold everything in my barn (save for the BEMs) and have amassed roughly 2000. I do not want to do any truck orders, as not to level up until I am ready. I am now eligible for my Tom free trial. Should I buy the most expensive things Tom has to offer at this level and sell for max price? What happens if I ignore him until I'm ready (first boat order being a good example). I don't know what to do. I have actually sat down and written some stuff in a notebook and my husband finds this hilarious. He told me I was addicted (well, duh!) but my response was classic. I told him I'd rather be addicted to hay day than crack, cause hay day was a little cheaper, lol. He had a good laugh.

Yes, that is what I would do. I didn't know about the forum, so had very little information on game strategy when I started and pretty much wasted free Tom. I also didn't know that if he didn't bring me 9 of an item I could send out again after two minutes for the same item. It's good that you are making notes. Making money is hard at first, but it does get easier.

Use Tom to get expensive items and sell them.

As I understand it, if you don't take him up on the free trial offer, it goes away and you never get to use Tom for free again.

Its fascinating reading about the second-timers! Id love to have another go and im only L42!
Thats only cos I made such a mess of my start-up! I didn't know about the forum until it was too late and needed help desperately!
Cut all my trees and razed the ground immediately (thought that was the aim)!
I also wasted Tom...ignored him for the longest time thru ignorance and then used him just to see what he did...ie no buying strategy!
Also made the mistake of only doing truck orders and constantly buying/selling thru the DD as again, I thought that was the main game-play! So ignorant! Ended up so far out of sync with machines etc for my levels I thought Id never recover.
Only from the help of some amazingly generous and experienced players (took me under their wing so to speak) who showed me the ropes that I actually survived the mess I was in. What a fiasco tho...hence wanting a re-start! LOL

Sounds to me like you will be fine! At least you have a plan if sorts and while money is tight, it will always be tight at the start. Isn't that part of the challenge? Getting over the initial hurdles? Am curious about whether you have started with a 'new' batch of F&N or transported some with you? They will help you with your 2nd farm of course, but having to re-start that list again would also be a challenge, and make earning money a little harder too. Again, just as it is meant to be I suppose?

As to your Tom question...yes, buy and re-sell, but check out what is in the DD first. The 'most expensive' may not necessarily be the best choice on that day if there are 1001 trying of them to be sold at the same time. Just thinking of your barn space here.
