Copying or not?

I second (and third and fourth) what everyone else is saying and say go for it!! I kept running across the prettiest farms and would look long and hard at what I found so lovely, and I finally decided to do the same thing, which was to start adding pine trees. While I liked my farm quite a lot before, I find I am LOVING it now, and it's because I saw other farms with that woodsy/cottage feeling (I've been tucking plots of indigo in here and there too). I'm not changing my basic layout, just tucking the trees and flowers in cozy available spaces. So go ahead, find the ideas you like, and incorporate them into your own design. And since you're one of my neighbors, I'll get the pleasure of going and enjoying your "new do!" :)

I think it is perfectly alright to get inspiration from other farms. The Romans got inspiration from the Greeks, and if it was good enough for the Romans, well enough said. Anyway one mans copying is another mans inspiration.

i have taken ideas from other farms. My whole production area started from one farm i saw, I have obviously made it my own, but the idea came from someone else. And just yesterday i took LadyJems idea for steps, although it transpires that she was inspired by someone else.

so sister, go for it. Have a free conscience and a lovely farm ...

And start taking screen shots of it as you go because as you get more machines and animals your farm will look different than when you started and it is nice to remember how it was. I look back and think 'gosh I had sooo much room then, there are empty spaces...' Now of course there are very little.

I agree - I often get ideas from the farms of others. Using the pavilion as a house extension was one I used as were the steps. There are so many lovely farms around to get ideas from. As someone else said earlier "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"

Oh that's a cute idea! Also, the same ideas will occur to different people. I found a farm that had made a hill and waterfall effect, and I smiled to myself because I'd done that a year or so ago in Gardens of Time. Like someone else said - there are only so many things you can do with a limited number of elements.

It's called 'inspiration', like Judesnz says ;)

I originally felt very flattered when I noticed that a number of followers were modelling their farms on mine, however as time has passed, and their farms have become exact replicas of mine, it feels a little unsettling, especially when I go visiting, and seeing my farm everywhere...lol

Well i agree with what the above said yes do copy but try to put ur own twist into it copying the general idea is great but not exactly!

It is some kind of compliment in my opinion. I know many people follows the style that they have seen and felt in love with while shopping on DD. I myself was inspired by one too :D.

Yeah definitely go for it :) I bet whatever you do with your farm, it'll look great :)

Do whatever you like, copy, imitate, whatever, it's your farm.. I guarantee whatever level you are on, you will have to re-decorate when the new updates kick in..!! hehe. Up until about level 50, I was changing my layout every other week. What you will find, is as you progress higher and higher, your space becomes tighter and tighter. Everything expands but the land..!!

Shealie... I love the woodsy look, before my farm was practical....everything together so I wouldn't have to go far to feed all animals, gather all berries, etc. now I find myself wanting something prettier!!!! LoL

Yeah, I'm a little afraid I will go through the work (wow, it's a lot...just to remove fences!!!) and love it but then get the 50's machines and not be able to put them anywhere! I should plan for them now in my layout.
