Just remove it at this point. I waited to revenge someone who just attacked me, but I was still somehow too slow even after pressing the button multiple times waiting for the player's guard to end and for them to get offline.

There is no valid reason to remove it, as it is still useful at lower leagues, and can easily be ignired at higher leagues.
Sitting there waiting for yhem to come off shield is pointless, as SC added funcionality years ago to make bases available for several minutes to normal attacks before becoming available for revenge. This was in order to address win trading, which it was being used for.
They have said they want to look at making some changes to revenge, but we have no idea what they are cknsidering. Most of the things suggested here would be horrible in practice.
Like Ajax says, it shouldn't be removed because it is something that can be used in lower leagues. As he also noted, the reason it doesn't work well in upper leagues is because there is a delay where other players get to attack before you can revenge. My suggestion to SC is they can remove that now because there is no revenge in legends and there is no reason to worry about collusion below legends in my opinion.
It is pretty useless in lower leagues as well. Most of the time you can run through the entire list, and can't attack a single person. After several attempts at revenge, being denied because of shield, a person simply stops trying as it is a waste of time finding someone with their shield off.
Even if you do manage to find someone to attack, chances are that you can't get enough loot to pay for the attack. It is useless at any league.
Yes it is pointless. So what!? Move along. The game has much bigger things to worry about and fix. I've never had the urge other than curiosity to revenge someone in the first place, I also can't imagine a scenario where I would.

Revenge might be useless to some players, but there are ways to make it useful to all players. I posted an idea in the other revenge thread that I think is doable based on other in-game functions I have seen that work similarly.

tl;dr: Use a “snapshot” of players’ bases for revenge that can be attacked even if that player is shielded, guarded, and/or online. Give more incentive to attack with reasonable trophy gain potential and scalable “bonus” loot not taken from the defender’s coffers.
I just spent the better part of an hour mashing the revenge button. I watched it go from guard, to online, to already under attack. Most of the time I was tapping it once a second. The gap in between when I tapped before and after couldn't have been more than 20 seconds.
I'm only in Champion II.
I'm not giving any money to ♥♥♥♥♥♥cell ever again.
Perhaps if you had read some of the earlier posts in this thread, you would have expected this.
If you are in Champions, I would expect any base with half decent loot to be hit within a minute or two of becoming available for multiplayer.
And (as mentioned ezrlier i the thread) it doesn't become available for revenge until 5 minutes after being available for multiplayer.
