Its not a question of his work or performance. I'm not saying his work is bad... In fact, they are epic. But the fact that he could get money from it is weird...

I think it's great that there are so many different graphics guys and gals on is forum. All providing a variety of help and assistance.
In berb's defence slightly, I messages about 5 or 6 people on the forum about helping me creating the border template for my Clash 2013 Review Video. 3 or 4 didn't reply at all, 2 replied saying they would help (and I know they were telling the truth but were very busy and I couldn't wait). berb was the only one to just create the template and send it straight over to me, there was no talk of payment.
I did ask him for more help but he told me he was busy so I did the rest myself.
I agree with everyone of you guys, signature are meant to be free why pay for them they may be useless if you move clans! I dont agree with the concept of charging money!

You're only saying this because you just asked me to make you one...
Regardless, signatures are not 'meant' to be free. It's a service that people are providing, which takes us a lot of time to do.
Also, why would you request a signature with a clan name on if you're expecting to leave... Just use your common sense and request one with your favourite troop and your in-game name..?
In my eyes signatures for friendly, tight communities such as this should be free. If you want to make money go make a website or promote your services on a site designed to promote them. I make signatures purely to brighten up the forums, and give each forumer a sense of independence and individuality in their sig. I make them because I enjoy the concept of making someone happy by giving them something they can wear with pride. I have a job, but when I get free time i make them, time is not something I go on, it can take a while, but hey, I enjoy doing it.
We are seeing this in different lights. You see making sigs as an occupation/job and therefore want money, but I see it as a hobby/interest, and benefit of customer satisfaction.
Then we have different opinions on the matter, which shouldn't matter to anybody else really.
I see it as a hobby and interest, which is why I've been designing many pieces for free to people on here, however, when I can no longer do so, payment is the only way I'm able to fit in time to do it. Recently I've been very busy, and that's the only way to do it.
It's not the incentive, unless I'm really busy. I still enjoy the satisfaction from having my work displayed and shown all over the forums.
I like a sig also.
Just want to have it say my ign: raneslane and clan: Hyrule Knights Level 50+. Below this one Hyrule Warriors any level
Favorite troop is witch can I have a witch on it too please.
Hey guys, er.. it's not my thread or anything but I just want to point out.. We all have different opinions and perspectives.
Berb is a great graphics designer, i'm not going to lie. Hands down, out of all the threads i've seen (including mine) his work would come close to being professional standard. His level of proficiency and experience outweighs the majority of us and it shows exactly how much time he has spent playing around with photoshop.
Much to the disappointment of everyone, YES it may take Berb, maybe 30 minutes to make his signatures... but it takes TIME to learn how to create those signatures in 30 minutes. The fact that graphics designers spend, months/years of their time building up their expertise in the field is what allows them to ask for an incentive to work.
Much less, Berb never directly stated in the thread he was selling his work, if people offer to pay or he directly transacts with others... that should be his business and no one elses. Also on the same note, to take criticism is to learn and grow, ... I personally think some of you guys have a bit too much pride in your work... which stagnates your work making it become a boring piece which looks like it's just going to be the same design everytime. Learning to evolve comes not with your own creativity but also with the criticism of others.. so don't dwell too much on what he has pointed out very bluntly, but rather use it to grow and overcome him. (I'm not gonna argue, but I love all of you gfx-ers who've got services up! Very admirable, and I respect you for doing so!)
That would be the proper situation here, for us to use his work as a stepping stone ... not to shame him for his morals and ethics, coz let's be honest if you were as good as he was, you'd be thinking of selling your services too. (Not on this forum, but perhaps elsewhere.)
Also can I just point out, in regards to the TOS of Supercell, all of our accounts and this forum itself is the property of Supercell, so I find it unwise to make transactions on this forum. http://forum.supercell.net/showthrea...es-%2A-Read%2A

Very well said, but I feel his criticism is a little harsh.
