Fish and lobsters

I totally fail at building up stocks of seafood. I started out fishing with lures, and it makes me very tense. I'm horrible at keeping the dang thing on the hook. So when I got the net maker, I gratefully shifted to using nets. Now I also have a lobster pool with space for five. And I can't keep enough of either in stock! I have enough expansion slots on the net maker to rarely leave a fishing spot open, usually have 3 or 4 lobster pots in the water and the rest of the fishing spots with nets.

Any suggestions or hints? I guess this may be a widespread problem since there are never any fish or lobster available to buy, not that I have found.

ps, currently level 59, about halfway to level 60.

I always place 5 traps leave one fishing area open for lures then place nets in the others. Seems to work for me. I still have one more upgrade on the lobsters but dont want to spend the coins.

How often do you check in on your game? How frequently you can manage your fishing area makes a big difference on how efficiently you can catch fish.

I don't have advice on how to manage the fishing area, mine is about how to manage seafood related products:

Build your stock of fish and lobster by:
- aim for having about 8 or 10 of each seafood products (always in barn)
- ask for help on lobster soup, fish soup, seafood salad, sushi, lobster sushi.... Never fill all of them yourself until you get a decent stock of those products, save what you got for the next boat (buy time to produce more). High level appreciate it because those products give most XP. I don't mind use my 3 of each seafood products on boats.
- don't do truck orders for seafood products. I know they usually give high XP but you cannot keep up with the demand
- if you need to produce, priority on fish burger, fish'n'chip, seafood pizza because boat often ask for 2/crate

Befriend with player from level 30 to 44. They can only get fish and will eventually sell it or fish related products to get coins. Don't be afraid to make new friends in low level than yours, they get products you can buy while using your machine for other products.

Just for information, in fishing area: waiting time for lure is at 2h, 2h30, 3H and 4h (2 spots each).

Seems like I'm always on here fiddling around, but honestly I don't go to the pond all that often. Both nets and lobster pots take hours and hours so I don't go over all that often. Maybe I should start making notes on times things will be ready to harvest, might help.

Thank you, i actually do try to fill all those crates alone. Somehow I got the idea that asking for help on boats was not exactly encouraged. This puts a whole new slant on it. Also, as long as I had any seafood items in stock, I was also filling all those truck orders.

If you are checking in often, then I would suggest using worms (free lures) to fish in 4 spots, and rotate 4 lobster pots every 8 hours. Put the lobsters in the locations that take the longest to refresh.

By rotating the pots, I mean:

0:00, start making 4 nets
8:00, place 4 nets, and begin making 4 more
16:00 send 4 lobsters to the pool, place 4 nets, begin making 4 more
24:00 retrieve 4 lobster tails from the pool, send 4 lobsters to the pool, place 4 nets, begin making 4 more

Repeat as needed. I know it only takes 6 hours to catch/cook lobsters, but at 8 hours to make 4, and still works out to 2 hours per 1 lobster tail as a yield (which is really the best you can do since it takes 2 hours to produce a single pot, no matter how efficient you are with the harvesting). If you can reliably check in every 6 hours, then you can do the same rotation with just 3. It also depends on how far along your net-maker is upgraded. If you don't have 4 production slots, then you'll need to check in more frequently.

Since that means constantly using your net maker for lobster pots, lures are really the only other way to get fish. I don't really care for the fishing mini-game either, but if you need lobster tails that's what you gotta do.

ALSO - If you need help on boat crates, then flag them! That's what neighbors are for. I don't know of anyone who sees that as inappropriate. Just keep in mind that some kinds of crates are far less likely to be filled (like those with dairy or sugar items). But I don't think anyone will look down on your for flagging them.

Seafood is a hard thing to get ahead on. For me, I have two nets, three lobster pots, and the rest open to lures. This works for me and I am able to keep up with the net, pot, and lure manufacturing. My lures are in the three shortest turnover areas.

As for boats and RSS. I never sell/fill filets or lobster tails. I need them to make the sandwiches, soup, etc. I also would never ask someone to fill my boats with something I don't want to fill. If I see a boat where all three of the same thing is requested, I keep going.

Has someone outlined the time each area needs to refresh? I hadn't noticed differences (duh). That tells you right there I'm not spending much time at the pond...that has to change! Will use the lobster pot rotation you suggest once I get my fish stock built by putting nets in every spot for a while (and checking them more regularly).

Love all the moving pieces you have to line up in this game! A logisticians dream world, LOL!

Is there a pic of the pond anywhere with labels on it for the times they take to turnover? I have searched around, but cannot find anything.
