Question about BAM and BARCH usage

Hi all,

Been playing CoC for 3 months now. Currently 1250cups or about, upgrading TH to 8 (maybe a little early). Have lvl6 walls all around. Defenses are around lvl 7-8 for the cannons/towers and lvl 4 for mortars/wizard. Troops all at lvl4 except balloons as I don't really like the ballons. 200 camp capacity. And DE troops are at lvl 1 (minions and hogs). Got the king.

I feel stuck on the attack side. Tried a mixed force of [13 giants, 9 WB, 25 goblins, 35 archers, 1 healer, and 15 spaces of other troops (whatever I try with). I got mixed results with this. Sometimes do very well against bases that are slightly lower than mine. Sometimes get completely wiped out.

I keep hearing about BAM and BARCH. I'm trying it, but it does not seem to work. I'm spreading the forces all around the opponent base, targeting mines. But it barely makes it to 50% and it does not break into the base. If I misjudge the amount of resources in the mines, then the attack will fail.

So my question is... how are BAM and BARCH supposed to be used? What bases should I target with this strategy? What are key placement strategies and any tips to better use this army make-up?

bam is only effective when you have level 5 or higher troops. barch is only effective for collector raids

what saakii said. But I will add that any troop composition can be successful against the right type of base. If you are being unsuccessful, then you are probably not targeting the right type of base. BARCH is indeed good at collector raids. I've also had success by taking some wall breakers and targeting some storages that are behind the outer wall.

Next time you use BARCH, tell yourself that there is no way you can get past any walls nor any buildings inside the outer wall. Once that is working for you, then you can start trying against buildings inside the outer wall.

Don't use Barch at TH7 to get gold and elixir. BAG is much more effective. I used 90 gobs, 10 minion, 8 wb, 50 archers, 20 barbs. It can get all the collectors (even behind walls), 50% without much trouble, a storage or two, and Heroes.

Barch with some heros and a PEKKA is used even in the bottom ranks of champion - it just takes more skill in execution and selecting a base - not that I recommend it vs th10 - just it can pull off those 50% in skilled hands

This is not true. Bam can be used with any level troops since it is for collector raids. But barch is actually a very strong army. With 2 spells and a hero it will wipe th8s and get to cores of non maxed th9s very easily. Bam is a lot weaker in my opinion because minions hog so much camp space.

The one key piece of advice I can give on barch is spending a good amount of time clearing outside buildings and exterior cells. I generally spend at least 60 archers and 60 barbs doing so. 40 barbs and 40 archers with a rage and a heal will shred through a base when you have them targetting the proper area.

edit: I always bring in 4 wallbreakers as well (queing them before barbs in the barracks will result in an equal archer to barb ratio). When getting ready to crack into the base send in about half barbs- drop your rage and then drop the wbs. They will crack into 2-3 cells and should give you a direct path to storages if you are clearing buildings properly. Just remember wallbreakers won't target empty sections- use that to direct them where you want.

But what is the proper area? And should the troops be released equally around the base to clear out buildings, with a group to "crack open"? If so, you put about 40 out of 60 in a central area, with 20/20 barb / archers to clear surrounding buildings... isn't that not enough? And your massed group... don't the get creamed by turrets?

ayum... please...no... have u ever tried barcking? if u have... its pretty obvious that u can even use it to trophy hunt (not just TH sniping) and get a couple of semi-decent-protected storages. u can even 3-star bases with it!

It just depends on the building type and the range of the defenses covering them. 1 archer whenever possible. For covered buildings, it just depends on the HPs of it. 4 barbs and 4 archers per resource collector, less for barracks and factories, more for army camps. I generally clear out 2 sides of the outside buildings (if shooting for a vault type core with all storages in a central area). Then I clear out the adjacent walled off sections with a line of maybe 10 barbs ahead of 15-20 archers. Then you can send your troops in the main perimeter walled section you want to breach and they will keep moving centrally. Lead them with a rage straight into a heal if catching fire from splash damage or xbows. Raged wallbreaks will clear a direct path to the middle.

If going for storages on a segmented base then you want to focus on each storage individually. Just keep at it and you will get a feel for deployment and eventually be able take 3 or 4 gold storages on strong bases.

But yes, without a spell or two, you will get killed by splash damage.
