Maxing a TH certainly isn't out of the norm at all. I'm in process of it right now at TH8 too.
I'll never max the DE troops though.
I've 38 black walls to go, but besides that, traps, decorations, everything purchased and upgraded where possible. All regular spells and troops maxed too.
DE status:
Barb king is upgrading to level 10.
Minions maxed to level 4. Max for TH8.
Hog rider level 2. Upgrade to level 3 is 30,000 DE.
Valk still 1. Upgrade to Level 2 is 50,000 DE and totally not worth it.
Golem still 1. Upgrade is 60,000 DE.
I've 1,150 gems exactly now though. I could force an upgrade most probably! But I probably the most patient person you'd ever meet.
