Maxing Minions/Hogs at Town Hall 7

I'm currently 30-40 walls (guestimate) away from being a maxed town hall 7, (building wise) I have one more level on my barbarian king to max it for the town hall, I will max him, but my question is should I worry about doing minions and hogs since they do cost quite a lot and at town hall 8, I'll have the DE drill, which will help somewhat? I'm not one for really rushing to a new town hall, I've maxed everything for the previous town halls. I have never used dark troops aside from ones stuffed into my clan castle. I currently don't have any builders active, since I just have walls and my barbarian king left. (Ahhh shame on me) I'm hoping to get some more walls hammered out with the loot bonus I get from Crystal 3, during my clans monthly trophy push that started today.

Any helpful tips?
(Please do not suggest moving to town hall 8, I want to max my walls first)

** Personal record with cups, started in gold 2 this morning and pushed up to crystal 3, in a matter of 2 hours I think. I've never been to Crystal before.... So \:D/ Yay me. On a shield after loosing 6 trophies but what the hey. Check me out if you'd like, IGN and Clan is sig.**

At town Hall 7 you don't need to upgrade them if I were you I would finish your walls and then upgrade your town hall! Easier to earn De at town hall 8! Good luck!

No problem mate!

If you do ever intend to push, I would do hogs at least. Minions are great for farming so... Yeah do those as well :P As a TH8, I really do wish I had done hogs to level 2 ;(

I too wouldn't suggest to max DE troops in TH7. In my alt i could somehow get lvl 2 minions, but thats it.
I am not gonna zap for de anymore. All other troops/building are maxed. Started th8 yesterday. Will be finished with walls by the time TH upgrade finishes.

Getting DE in TH8 is much much easier with the drill and better troops for attack.

I upgraded my minions at Th7 because that was quite easy. Not sure about my hogs yet. Might just wait until Th8.

I'm similar to you, a maxed TH7, and I did both Hogs and Minions. My BK is last to do, as he's only lvl2. Plus I have 5 walls left to upgrade before they're maxed. I have used the lvl2 Hogs against other Th7s and a few TH8s and they were fantastic. I've stopped using DE now so I can save for those BK upgrades.

Long story short I'd do them. That way once at TH8 you can concentrate your Lab for lvl5 Wizzie's, Archers etc and not worry about back tracking to do hogs/minions.

im maxing my TH7 also. what i am planning to do is to start upgrading my TH and finish the last few walls while im upgrading my TH because it takes so long.also, can i see a pic of your base design. ive never seen a TH7 holding its own in crystal league

Do as much DE as you can while you are farming walls. Both TH7 and TH8 have an excess of elixir after the first 5 days, so you are really focusing just on gold and DE: don't worry if you don't get them at th7, th8 is a long journey :) btw You must be proud to yourself to have maxed BK, th8 gives him much more levels to do :)
