THE COVE: A Revolutionary Transformer, Anti-Hog, Anti-Air TH9

To the TH9's out there, I'll ask you three questions.


1. Does your base get run over by hogs?
2. Do mass drags/ ballonians get to more than more than one gold storage?
3. Can a maxed giant/healer/wizard/WB/spell army take out a gold storage and get to your DE?


If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, chances are you'll want to consider The Cove--that is, if you want to keep all your gold and dark elixir.


I don't have the best skills with photo editing, but I'll talk you though what makes The Cove a truly revolutionary base.


It's got the basics of course--centralized CC, centralized mortars, centralized DE, evenly spaced defenses, all that good stuff--but that's not just what makes the base so effective.


1. WHY IS THE COVE ANTI-HOG?


Take a look at the little arms extending out of the core. See the teslas surrounded by giant bombs? Two giant bombs will wipe out any hog bunch lvl 4 and below, and leave lvl 5 hogs with only 25 HP--easy picking for the defenses and the nearby wizard tower. Soon as they target the tesla, they disappear into skeletons. And the spring traps are placed so hogs cannot avoid them.


I don't have the photos right now, but let's just say I've been attacked by four maxed hog/heal spell armies, and none of them were able to steal more than 20K gold...which was from my collectors.


2. WHY IS THE COVE ANTI-AIR?


Besides the three max lvl 3 dragon attacks that failed to get to even a single storage, and the two ballonian attacks that got 30% of my base? Centralized AD is the key--Air defense packed closely in the center and each gold storage covered by an air bomb against the minions.


3. WHY IS THE COVE PRETTY MUCH ANTI-EVERYTHING?


I exaggerated. If you get gowiped, best of luck I have no guarantees But giants and small troops (archers, barbs) stand little chance against the base. Notice the wizard tower next to the gold storage, and how it is surrounded by an elixir storage and the gold storage. That means giants will not target the wizard tower, so even if your other defenses go down, the wizard tower remains standing and fully covering the gold storage against small troops.


Giants, like the hogs, will be funnelled into the giant bomb and spring trap arms (if they even get that far, most of the time they won't) and die before a single storage is even touched.


4. NO DEFENSE REPLAYS, huh?


Many of them are buried, and it takes forever to upload a single image on this ipad. Let's just say I'm a trustworthy person when I say that in the past 2+ months I haven't lost more than 20K gold or any DE from any attacks(unless zapped)--the gold lost was from collectors overnight.


5. Any prerequisites?


You're gonna want skull walls and TH9 defenses, obviously. As with any TH9 base.




Well, there it is. If you do decide you want a base that protects your gold and DE perfectly, make sure you place all the traps and defenses they way I have.

EDIT: Farming version added. Designed so that the inevitable one storage will be lost against a strong attack (all strong attacks can reach one gold storage, let's face it) but the second storage is very difficult to access. No definite anti hog measure in place, though clan mates have told me the base has held up against hogs. Highly effective against typical giant/healer, bam, etc.

I'm gonna look at your base more but it seems like a cool concept :) Good work

Whats your clan name? I'll post a bigger picture.

Looks great but exposed resources against BAM and giant armies. Anti-hog designs always have this though.

Elixir exposed? Yes purposely. Gold? Not at all. Wizard tower covers every angle of the gold storage.

Very well thought out, however I see that CC troops - and possibly heroes could be very easily lured? Just my observations, feel free to respond.

Notice it's in farming mode, when all that's in my CC are giants. Nonlurable CC only matters during trophy hunting, during which you switch the DE storage with the CC and switch out one of the heroes for the town hall.

This is a transformer base. This is what attackers will see :)

Ah I see. It's good that my traps are hidden then!

The trophy hunting mode isn't that hard to figure out, just take out a hero and put in TH, switch CC with DE.

I have an earlier farming version of my base very effective against all troops besides hogs. If you're farming low it's useful, let me know if you're interested.

I answered YES to 2 yet I don't see how this base can stop Minions or BAM from getting to 2 of the gold storages.

I think a cleverly placed 2 level 5 wb could open up the walls that are covering the wiz tower and elixir storage and the cannon. No traps are around there so hogs/giants can feast. Skull walls and crystal walls both only need 2 wb to get through. I still think someone using BAM + wb can get to at least 2 gold storages on your base.

If the ballonian and mass giant/healer attacks I've been getting couldn't get to a single storage...BAM, seriously?

If you try it out you'll find it's nowhere as easy as it looks.

I think you will need to take it up to master 2 to test it out against expert TH10 hoggers. I would attack it this way.

Send a couple of hogs to take out the cannon next to spell factory. Send in the rest to the two archer towers. Your base is finished as the hogs will keep going into the core.

There are heaps of other hogs strategies but you will need see it for your self.

Agreed, I read somewhere how hogs are in fact not an easy strategy to use and you would need to rise in trophies to master 3 or crystal 1 to truly test your base.

I'll update on any results as I climb trophies. Right now though I'm running on a two month streak without a single storage destroyed. :)

This is a beautiful base. When I push I will use the trophy mode for sure.

Why thank you! Oh, you will want level 3 giant bombs to deal maximum damage against hogs.

looks cool!

if i was to attack with a giant healer army i'd just attack to the left of the funnels, with archers taking out the lone at on left and possibly archers to take the closest at on the right, so that wb aren't distracted when you blow up walls around the wt/elixer/gold all the way to core (mortar) . but that's just my method of breaking the base....

Please supply defense logs for trophy ranges.

This base will do fine at 1500.

If you want some real tests, take your trophy to either below 200 or above 2100.

nice base....but archers on the periphery can easily snipe all your elixir man......pretty much periphery..yes the golds are protected well....but the worry is about the elixir
