Damn hogs

Hi,

I'm a TH 9 that right now floats around 1600-1700 cups and require some help on some matter. The the layout I got right now works quite well versus ground troops (especially versus hordes of giants that are usually thrown at me) and I'm happy about this, but recently I've been attacked mostly by TH 10 with hogs and 3-4 heal spells and things start to get quite annoying. Sure, had my share of good laughs at some pathetic attempts but just got 100% for the second time and to be honest I'm fed up with that overpowered combo. I need some help on dealing with this issue. Any suggestions?

You have no hope because if you design against hogs those giant armies will get a lot of resources. Believe me it is better than anti-hog bases. Solution: do not keep large amounts of resources.

Use an anti-hog layout with xbows and teslas in the middle with CC and DE storage, surrounded by a moat and a hog ring. If they know what they are doing and lure CC and heroes and deploy the hogs smartly there's nothing you can do - but these ate very rare sub crystal1+. Last hog attack I received got 30%, using 36 hogs, archers and 4 heals and heroes. Around crystal2 iirc.

Put your townhall outside to allow for cheap shields.

Put your CC in the middle of your base and fill it will L5 or 6 wizards. Hogs are honestly the easiest thing to defend against if done poorly which is a catagory 99% of hog attackers will fall into.

Using hogs to their full potential takes more skill than any other army setup and will probably 3 star you, but honestly I have only ever seen one attack on my base like this and they are very rare. However if hogs can 3 star you then they could have 3 stared you will other combos too.

It can be hard to have a hog-resistant unless your base is well developed.. Having all level 11 walls. but level 3 mortars, level 1 xbows, clan castle 2, and wiz tower 4 will not get you a win against hogs.. (Or at least protection of loot)

I have a good anti-hog th9 design for my mini account based from the design I had with my TH10 account. I have two double big bomb traps that wipe out a whole horde of healing hogs in one go on both sides of the base that works amazingly well. Basically all weapons form a circle around the outside sending the hogs around with a ring of resources inside and the xbows etc inside.

At TH 9 things are a lot more expensive than lower TH levels so telling me not to store much stuff is really really dumb.. any other smart ideas?

Anyway, I shared my layout with a few friends in my clan and I monitor their status from time to time to see how it goes and from what I've seen so far they also have the same issue: hogs.

Sure, not all have the same level of upgrades like me and while I had people fail at me due to lack of knowledge on how to use them or I was lucky, but one of them it's a lot closer to me than others and told me that he has like 30 hogs attacks in his attack log. The combo is starting to become annoying cos as a TH 9 there isn't much you can do against it but to upgrade to TH 10 and get the 2x Inferno Towers but that ain't going to happen any time soon.

I know the anti-hogs layouts are good against hogs but on the other hand are prone to fail versus other types of combos. Any layouts I can get some inspiration from?

PS: Would be great if Supercell would do something about this issue for TH 9's too, but I'm not going to have much expectations from them.

I've tried hosting wizards in my CC but it doesn't take a genius to lure out some troops, even the ones some people consider them hard/impossible to lure.

I farm in the same range and I usually manage to get free shields all the time from level 30-60s. That could definitely help you out. Besides that, from watching youtube vids, I think the best defense would be wizards in CC, high level crossbows. Besides centralizing CC and bows and balancing out splash, you can't do alot against mean TH 10s who know how to use hogs :(

Good trap placement could also really help

You can look at my layout. Hogs don't bother me.
