It's past New Years and the Christmas theme is still up? C'mon now :(
I took down all my Christmas decorations yesterday and tidied up my farm. Hope the animal costumes leave soon.
I got rid of all my Christmas stuff so now it is just winter on my farm.
I really don't wanna get rid of my Christmas stuff...but I know I should lol :) took down my real decorations today and was gutted hehe
As far as I'm concerned christmas deco are taken down on the 6th. Which is the day the kings "bla bla bla"
Google it!
In sweden we have a day thats called "16 dag knut dĺ dansas julen ut" (transation) the 16 day of xmas ( wich is Knuts namesday) then the chistmas dances out... So in sweden the xmas lasts untill the 13 of january
Interesting to see how long Christmas last all over the world.
I put away the real Christmas decorations, but kept the snowmen and the just arrived sled. It is just winter on my farm too. Some Valentine's decorations would be nice. I hope spring comes to the farm in time for spring in the northern hemisphere. (Sorry to all Hay Day players south of the equator.)
Strictly speaking its a winter theme. Winter can last up to three months...
Cant say as me a single boyless girl for over 25 years care about valentine at all....its just a opportunity for shops to sell nothing else!!!
I like the winter theme & I find it interesting to read that most people took down their winter theme decor. Not me, I'm thinking about keeping mine up all year 'round. But then again, I may want to change it up in the future. But I'm liking my 2 carousels, 2 snowglobes, 2 snowmen, 2 toy soldiers, 2 Christmas trees, 3 snow lanterns, 1 small frozen pond, & a bunch of presents. Lol I splurged a little. But I'm still hoping they come out with an update to fix the majority of the bugs & other stuff I don't like (but that's a whole different topic).
I've taken most of the Christmas things down on the farm but left the winter items, i.e. snowman, frozen ponds, etc. Took the tree and presents down but I love the garland fence so much I'm leaving it and the poinsettias up all winter. And as for Valentine's Day, I wouldn't mind some hearts floating around hither and yon. I've always loved V-Day, even back when I was a broke single mom. When else could I buy chocolate-covered marshmallow hearts? ;) Or maybe I'm just a romantic at heart. I bought myself the candy instead! And always gave my kids a little something heart-related as well. :)
I have a spooky section for Halloween, Xmas centres around the homestead, maybe I just make a winter wonderland after.
I have taken the Christmas decorations down just as I have at home. Left the winter themed decor up though - it can cool me down when it is hot here:rolleyes::)
I'm with you Random, a tree with lights is pretty whatever the season is. And the children who visit my farm will miss the carousel. Colonel Wood N. Soldier and LadyJem are just getting to know each other. And his aide and the snowman are vying for my affection. I imagine my pond will melt on its own come the summer. Well that will put the snowman out of the running then. Who doesn't like white picket fences with red bows. I am sure it will always be somebodys birthday amongst my neighbours and friends so there is always a need for presents. Even if it is just shoes for LadyJem.
Once i buried three people in my backyard it didn't matter that halloween was over. What was i to do, dig them up! I am living in a world where i can move a great big fir tree with my finger tip. Anything goes.
I don't like all the winter/christmas themed decorations. But I love my carrousel!
I never spend a dime on this game, I think it's fun to hunt chests and find myself some diamonds. I'm really proud of my snowglobe, carrousel, Halloween fence, spider trees and graves. ;);) I can always change my mind, but for now I love them on my farm:o

Christmas ends on the 6th for me, there are, after all, 12 days of Christmas. Was very interested to read that Sweden has 16 though? As always, it's what works for the individual. The snow can stay for a while longer for me, it's not the spring solstice until March........
So the Christmas decorations go on my farm, and from my RL house, on Monday. I LOVE my carousel! Will keep that as long as it snows........
The same here. We celebrate till 6th Jan and the day after it's time to take off the decorations.
On 6th the Old Lady called Befana comes bringing sweetness or coal for the kids.
But I'm not sure I'm going to remove the decorations from the game... I do love them.. :o
I got rid of all of my Christmas deco on boxing day. Love Christmas but by boxing day it was safe to say I had enough. Looking forward to the spring update.:D
This is a Western religious thing. The 12 days are from the 25th, the nominal day chosen for the birth of Jesus until the arrival of the Magi on the 6th January (Epiphany). The 25th was chosen because the church wanted to supplant the Pagan Saturnalia feast with its Lord of Misrule and Feast of Fools - a tradition harking back to Roman times. So, Christmas decoys traditionally remain up until 6th January. Removing the Xmas decoys doesn't make Winter go away, the seasons don't change until March, so let it snow until then And just enjoy the Winter Carnival, I say.
I've been playing since July, and I saw farms with Christmas trees and gifts even then. I was like what the...?
But as I began to better understand not only the game's dynamics, I also saw that farms were reflections of their owners. Some prefer order, others naturalness. Some farms are well thought out, while others appear as if things were thrown down by a fretful toddler. Many choose to display their treasures regardless of the season while others rearrange and redo the decor whenever the mood strikes. There is no right or wrong.
As Jude pointed out, a tree can be moved with a fingertip. That in itself is a huge suspension of reality, so why be upset over a facet of the game which reflects real life more accurately? After all, there is a time for every season!
I did put some things in storage but I'm leaving mine out for a bit longer. The carousel will probably stay out the longest. I just love that thing! LOL
I love my Christmas decorations, but don't even have all of them out as I won some here and there and just left them in storage for next year. I think I'll be taking down my Christmas decorations this weekend while leaving the wintery décor out, and maybe even add some extra winter décor. ;)
Very interesting to hear about some of the different traditions around the world...thank you for those bits of education. :)
We don't have a christmas in my country so in my farm i am gonna keep the christmas stuffs as long as i can..It's so cute with the snow :)
I live in Florida for a reason. No winter to speak of. No snow.
I like palm trees and sand. Lots of sun shine.
I am ready for summer.
I lived in Britain for many years and was told it was bad luck to take down decorations before the 6th of Jan lol. Very cool though, I liked having them up a little longer, without being thought I was lazy or just plain out of my mind!
I also took down the Christmas decor, but left the frozen ponds, snowman, and sled. (Don't tell anyone, but I left the glowing snow lanterns too. They kinda grew on me)
In "real life"' I still have my outdoor lights up and lit 24/7. They're large sized color-changing LED bulbs and I just love them. Not sure how long is too long, but I don't have the heart to turn them off yet. Neighbors are probably ready to shoot me...
Shouldn't there be decorations now for Chinese New Year, with all the players in Asia?
In my real life neighborhood, preparations for the Year of the Horse are sure making for visual overload already.
Our decorations came down at home over the weekend but I am very loathe to take down the ones on my farm. There's a lot of discussion with, I believe, a fair split over when twelfth night applies, depending on which way one looks at it. So, it was either by Midnight last night or it's Midnight tonight. I've pushed the extra day on my farm so will have to take them down today, reluctantly. I might pinch the idea of leaving the frozen ponds, snowman and sledge though.
On the other hand, the house, animals and little people will remain Christmassy until Supercell decide to remove them, so I could wait until they change the theme...
