How can casual TH9 save up money?

I understand how "hardcore" CoC'ers can build a nice little bank account. However, how can a casual player possibly save up for the larger defenses with the new loot rules?

I'm not complaining, whining, ♥♥♥♥♥ing or anything here, I'm genuinely asking for advice.

Here is how I see my game going since the update. I raid for 250-350k gold. Yippee! I log off for a couple hours, come back and have lost 250-350k gold. ♥♥♥♥! Then I have to reset all my traps for another 70k gold. Double ♥♥♥♥!

I just don't understand how I can upgrade my defenses to help prevent successful raids without being able to save up money (and please don't suggest gems, I've paid enough into this game).

I have tried different town layouts, even stealing some from the boards here (currently using the "loaded die" TH9 I saw from a while back).

I have tried moving up/down trophy ranges, doesn't seem to matter. The gold offered by my town is enough that I get raped within minutes of logging off. Most of the costly attacks are hogs (surprise surprise) but some are just old fashioned giants/wiz/healers.

Any suggestions?

Hey I understand you pain. TH 9 are easy targets from Hog attacks (weaker defense towers and no game changer inferno towers). Have you tried putting your TH outside your walls? Dont place it far away in the corner but close to the base surrounded with some archer towers and cannons. So when people try to snip your TH at least they have to use some troops.

Play more.


Put TH outside for quick shield.

Change troph range.

Spend a relaxing week at 1,400 trophies with your feet up (TH outside).

You'll make 250 to 300k gold every raid and get sniped by a TH5 or 6 90% of the time.

I agree with the posters above me. Put your TH outside well away from any defensive towers.

My base offers max gold about 50% of the time, usually a tempting chunk of DE, and ALWAYS 500k of Elixir (full storages and pumps filling up too, lol). Even with all this available loot, key defenses upgrading, and farming up at about Gold II, I get the free shield on 9 out of 10 attacks.

Hey! I am a TH9 and I neverr get attacked for more than Town Hall. Creds to Cloud W's base! Leave a elixir storage out. Also, it may take a few days but I was able to do my clan castle 5 and 16 level 8 walls within 10 hours with about 4-6 hours of boost. Also racked 68k in three days before. Try 1600 and just wait. It may take a while to save, but worth it. Just don't to AT till last :P

Did you max out your defenses prior to th9 ?. This could be the cause of your misfortune. Seeing that you are in need of loot, there is no need to protect your TH. As others have sAid, place it outside and take the shield. Most ppl will go for TH and leave you be. "Unless" your base is full of loot, then you need to raid more often to accumate loot ASAP.

Also, lower your cup range. Stay on the DL until you get your defenses up.
