Would CoC be better if you had to pay for it?
I remember thinking when I first started playing CoC, how fun this was going to be to actually compete against other players in this this thing called the clan tournaments. What was your first thought on day one when you read that in the intro? I remember building my base initially thinking it must have to do with this clan castle that I have to construct. I remember feeling like i was going to be a good player and I was going to win some gems if it was the last thing I did. I was ready to COMPETE! For GEMS! The only thing that meant anything right?
Well, roughly a year later, here i sit. Never competed for a single gem, but certainly have entertained myself along the way (TH 10, lvl 105). Learned about Bonbee Canada and North 44 and Jorge Yao. Interesting people and internet communities to be sure, but nobody i was ever going to be although it's who I thought I WAS going to be when I started until I found out you had to buy all that success.
I'm not a gemmer by any means, but have spent some $ over the last year, certainly more than a PS3 game costs, but not what it costs to have level 40 heroes or actually be in a clan that competes for the few gems available through tournament play. So I thought I'd throw this out to the community, what does everyone think looking back on it, would you have paid money to play initially if it meant a true competition environment? Or do you like it as it is, free to play, but never competing for anything more than the respect of your clan mates i guess?
I can tell you for me, it's the one thing after all this time that I wish was different, I wanted to compete for gems and I think I would have paid for it if they could've figured it out.
