At level 11, a collector gives 3k/h , 72k/day. I can easily get at least 50k with the basic troops (barb,archer,gob,giants) and raid twice or thrice per hour at TH7 ( 5 times / hour at lower TH ).
I have been playing for 3 months, currently at TH7, 4 workers, average collector level 7, walls and towers at least at TH6. Resource always above 70% full.
Discuss?
Maxed mines and collectors gives you 3 million a week. You don't want three million of each resource FREE each week?
My storage is always around maxed, I can get 1mil a day with just raids. The time taken to max all collectors/mines isn't really worth it imo. (Unless you are a casual player who play this game once a while)
As of now, 1 of my building need around 1mil to upgrade and take at least 2 days. During the few days i would have earned more than enough to survive 100% raids, upgrade another tower and use the remaining to upgrade my walls.

I agree with the drill part. This is why the topic title is mentioned only collectors and gold mines. As of now at TH7, i have yet to encounter any difficulties farming up gold. In fact, i just farmed another 340k gold from raids in the past 15 minutes (from 3 raids). At higher TH, it is probably harder to farm, but then again, each building will require more time to upgrade, which means i actually have more time to fill up my storage.Quote:

You can say it is a contribution to the game. Also a little bit of more tank wouldnt hurt. Just do it when you are busy and can only play for a few minutes.
Gotta contribute to the economy. Plus you get 3M g/e. Thats pretty good for doing nothing.

Max them whenever you have time. They have always been my lowest priority, because I attack a ton and usually have maxed gold/elixir. The less you attack the more important they are.

Collectors are nice when u are not very active. But people like me who raid a lot can use the builders more effectively
There would be NO money in the system (except for tiny league bonuses) without collectors.
i upgrade my collector and mine so i have something to collect when i wake up in the morning. especially after i get raided.
When you raid a ton and you can fill up your storages between upgrades, then you really are not benefitting from the time taken to max your storages since that time is better used upgrading your base and walls.
I purposely left my collectors and mines close to, but not fully maxed for those times when you have a busy week and can't raid much, when a builder becomes free at least you can keep the builder busy with upgrading a cheap collector or mine. That way the builder doesn't sit there doing nothing.
If you like to max the mines early on, then great, the earlier you do it, the greater the benefit.
But if you are doing fine with level 7 mines/collectors by raiding tons, then don't worry about it.
If you can fill your storages sooner with the help of mines and collectors, that'll free up some time to do other stuff in your life :)
Passive income is wayyyy underrated by many people. Why would you not want to take full advantage of free resource generation in a game where how good of a base you have is essentially based strictly on longevity?
Its not really free. The cost is in the trade off in time it takes to upgrade your mines/collectors versus upgrading things that either help you farm more gold (camps/barracks/spell factory/lab), keep more gold (defenses), or both (bk/aq). For me the minuscule amount of additional resources I would get from upgrading isn't worth the time.Quote:

Ok maybe at th7 max collectors don't make that much of a difference.... However once you have made th8+ they are a huge help. I guarantee that I've made more extra money by maxing out my collectors and mines early than you have making your short time raids. And when you have free elix it makes up for the elix that you spend on building your army even if your getting around 80k on small raids your net profit is not that much that extra benefit from collectors makes each raid more profitable for you. Think of maxing out your collectors and mines as an investment for yourself. Besides when walls start costing 500k-1mil every single gold counts
I'm TH7 with all but 2 level 11 mines, and only 1 level 11 pump, but intend to max soon. My play style involves maxing EVERYTHING before upgrading my townhall.
Before I started my second account I'd definitely agree with you, but the amount of resources you get passively is pretty nice. You get a whole L10 wall a week from just sitting there! Not only does it help the economy, but it offsets loot taken from you by attackers.
Well, I think the biggest factor is that you are TH7. I haven't upgraded my collectors much on my mini account (TH6) because it's easy to fill storages in a few raids, usually well before a builder gets free. Once you get to TH9/10 though, you will begin to appreciate having resource generation for doing nothing. Especially if you leave a builder free or on short builds to constantly upgrade walls, the extra income is all easily utilized. And the income from upgraded collectors is leagues ahead of how much a defensive upgrade could ever potentially protect.
I raid only collectors and mines. I'd have nothing to raid ;)

You are acting as if it is one or the other.
You can raid AND be getting your free 3 mil per week.
If you have a builder who is not sleeping and don't have money to upgrade something good, go for a collector or mine. It will pay off in the long run!
You guys mention that its an extra THREE MILLION for FREE, but what you guys forgot to consider is that most people still do level their collectors but just don't max them.
Lvl 8 mines make 1.9 million a week and take 12 days of build time for ALL 6 mines.
-12 days of building time for 1.9 million a week!!!
Lvl 9 mines make 2.2 million a week.
-An extra 12 days building for 300k a week.
Lvl 10 mines make 2.5 million a week. -18 days
-An extra 18 days for 300k a week, so a total of 30 days for 600k a week from the lvl 8 mines.
Lvl 11 mines make 3 million a week, and takes 24 days of build time.
-An extra 24 days for 500k a week, a grand total of 54 days of precious building time for 1.1 million every week.
Im not saying its bad to upgrade collectors/mines, but there are pros/cons for each individual player depending on how active a player is and the game style of the person.
Did you buy gems or gem your base?
If only we could get a couple more mines and collectors!
