How important are walls?

I've been wondering when it's a good time to upgrade walls. I'm TH9 and they are lvl 6-7. What should they be?

Try for lvl 8

As a Th 9 they should ideally be L 7-8

I only just upgraded my TH. Should the walls be upgraded first, or after my splash?

In my opinion lv7s should be obtained at th7. After that do skulls whenever you want but they aren't nessecery.

Ive been told before that splash defenses are most important, and I agree. We must "max everything." But I'm going to go with lvl 7-8 for TH9.

Yup I agree with the splash. You can check out my base now if you want. I upgraded to th10 only a couple days ago so it's a bit odd looking, but you can get an idea of the walls that will do at th9-10.

I got all Lvl 7 walls at TH7, and IMO unless you're a hardcore farmer you don't need to go much further. Get all your walls to level 7 and maybe some to level 8. Level 7 walls will make your base seem intimidating and won't cost ridiculous amounts of gold.
