The amount of DE a base is supposed to have for it to be considered worth raiding

Hello all. As a new townhall 7 (several weeks), I have trouble deciding if I should raid a base because of it's dark elixir or not. I have never seen a thread like this, so I'm really sorry if there is a thread like this already, but here, I will be talking about the value of dark elixir compared to elixir/gold with gems.
If you go to the store:
1000 DE=125 gems
400100 E=283 gems

This means the ratio for DE and E to a gem are 8 DE/1 gem and 1414 E/1 gem

So if you consider a 150k raid worth it, it will mean that you will need 106 gems to get 150k elixir (divide 150k [raid] by 1414 [elixir per gem]).

To make the amount of dark elixir equal to the amount of elixir, multiply 8 (DE per gem) to 106. This equals 848.

So....if your raids are 150k elixir/gold raids, then when you come across a base with at least 848 DE, you should attack it. This, of course, could be adjusted, depending on the amount of elixir you raid.

If there are any threads before this, sorry, I did not know of it. If my math is wrong, sorry, I haven't been doing a lot of math lately. If you think basing the value of resources to gems are the wrong way to do it, please tell me why.

I just thought it will be helpful to some people who have trouble deciding if they should attack a base because of it's dark elixir or not.

People value DE more than gems can say.

You are right, like how people generally value gold more than elixir. However, gems do give the basics to how valuable a resource is.

doesn't the gem cost change dependent on your storage and how much of each resource you currently have? Thus the values calculated will change dependent on these factors...

Having said this, my decision making on whether to attack for DE is this...
Over 2000 - go for it
1000-2000 - can you get it all, yes? Then go for it... Half... Check out the other resources to see if that tips the balance
500-1000 - can you get it all, are resources over 75k each? Yes - go for it
0-500 - are the other resources above 125k each or is one resource over 250k...

that's my decision making tree for de... The other factor that influences this is how many troops i have to expend to get it...

As a new TH7, just farm using barbs, archers, goblins, heal/rage spells if needed. Stay in the 1400-1500 trophy range. You'll find bases with exposed storages of 400-700 DE that are worth attacking and will take less than a full army. If you see 700-1000 it's probably better protected, so consider using your full army and spells to crack deeper. If you see 1,000+ it's probably going to be too hard to take as a new TH7.

This is far lower than the "gem cost" tells you to do, but getting DE as an early TH7 is difficult. Spend it as fast as you can. There isn't much to spend at TH7 so once your BK is up a few levels just keep focusing on gold.

Enough to pay for the minions it will take to poop that base to the ground.

Seriously, if I have 80 minions, my DE limit is 800.

Remember that gem costs work on a logarithmic/exponential (I'm not going to do the math to figure out which one, sorry) scale, so 1000 de won't cost as many gems per unit as 1de, and 400100 elixir won't cost as many gems per unit as 1 elixir. So I don't know how accurate the math is.
