B&E event created a shortage of eggs, bacon, and B&E.
Pumpkin pie event created a shortage of pumpkins and pumpkin pies.
This new event is creating shortages of hats, scarves, shirts, and to a lesser extent...wool and indigo.
It messes up the entire newspaper, which in turn, screws up the boat and truck orders which require these items. Yea, I can make these items, but what good is the newspaper when it's completely useless?
Still think these global events are lame. Can't wait for it to be over.
Is anything on HayDay worth doing if you remove the reward? I guess that's up to the individual.
I don't need more money, and I'm at a level now where more XP won't unlock any new items or machines for me. So one of the few things that does motivate me is an exclusive decoration.
It's interesting how different players perceive these temporary changes to the game as either positive or negative. You say it "messes up" the paper, but I like that the game is different for a week or so at a time. Keeping everything the same makes it stale and uninteresting to me.
I'm trying to find a silver lining in this but shopping in the DD is primarily the reason why I enjoy HD. If that facet of the game is altered, which it has by these global events, it makes it less enjoyable to play for me. Ur right, it makes things interesting but leave the paper alone is all I'm saying. It's gonna be a long week.
As you say the fact it stirs it up is what makes it up is what makes it interesting. I suspect the criticism of these events may come from lower level players as it probably does cause them more woe. But, believe me, when you get to the higher levels any additional challenges make things interesting. I personally love then and they renew my interest in the game.
Lots of people were moaning about how expensive the decs were so should be loving the chance to get some without spending diamonds.
One strange thing I have found is that I have managed to get LOADS of building stuff from the DD since it started.
I really like the event and hopefully will try and complete all the goals because I want the christmas decorations that we can get for completing each goal, I spent diamonds buying a christmas tree but there are other decorations that I would like to get but just don't have the diamonds to buy them.
Conjunctural changes in the DD are fun. All of a sudden I see a lot of sugar products, and no more wool (here comes the cogitation if I should get that third sheep pen I had always thought I'd never need)
What really amuses me is that there are smart people advertising sheep feed in the DD now. Makes me realize I have no sense for business opportunities.
The thing about the global events are: 1. If you get the first prize and don't do any more and you still get the diamonds.
2. You make the materials for the global event and sell them full price in the rrs you make lots of money.
I hardly ever use the rss unless I do something stupid like use all my crops without planting extra. So it really doesn't effect the way I play.
I've gotten the first two, and I've enjoyed getting the presents and the pole, but from now on I'll probably focus on producing wool items for others to buy. I'd rather have the money.
You can participate AND make money at the same time. Sell extra sheep feed. It's going like hot cakes.
If you are producing hats (which everyone should be doing, by the way), then running both feed mills full time will give you a lot of extra Sheep feed. Sell the sheep feed and the extra wool you cannot turn into hats directly.
I dont understand what you mean with DD being completely useless. Are you trying to say that clothes and wool was the only thing you used the DD for from before? Please. The items choosen for globals events like these are always products that usually are in low demand. I don't understand why people are crying a river over scarves all of the sudden. Honestly, people complaining, I find are people who has difficulties adapting to new situations and circumstances. It's honestly not difficult to produce ur own items and stay stocked for your own boats if that's what you prioritize.
Personally, I usually only donate enough to unlock the global and receie the reward then I'll just sell the what I produce. They sell like hotcakes, it's awesome. For this event, I went all the way to the last goal since we receiced the Holiday Treenand Snowglobe. Now I'm helping a friend reach her last goal and after that, I'll start helping friends' boats. I don't see anything super difficult here.
We're obviously playing the game in different ways. Whereas u like to produce ur own items, I like to buy mine. I use the DD for all sorts of items for boat and and truck orders so playing the way I do, I like to purchase the items needed in the DD. Instant gratification, I'd like to call it.
Crying a river would be complaining about seasonal clothes on animals and expecting donkeys to produce a certain amount of xp's...or quitting the game because of those reasons. I don't like this event...I still don't see a reason to like it. But to those who do enjoy it, more power to u.
I didn't say I like producing my own items, like most higher leveled players, I use alot more than I produce (doing teuck orders and filling lots of crates for friends) so I, too, have to buy extras to keep up. All I'm saying is that the game does not end if you can't buy something because of the fact than you CAN produce quite a lot yourself, for this week, I'll have to pass on filling crates asking for clothings. But that for 1 week only.
I'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥ off because the XP of donkeys were changed and I'll keep on staying ♥♥♥♥♥♥ off. Not because I can't live with the extra XP they gave before but over the fact that I bought both donkeys BEFORE they changed it. If I buy something, transcation is over. If I pay a certain amount to watch unlimited movies for life, I expect they honor that even if they decide to change the price in the future. They can't come 1 weeks afterwards and force me to pay 10 more bucks because they raised the price. Or if they change their policy to maximum 30 movies a month, they cannot revoke the umlimited for costumers who bought the service with those conditions. That ugly donkey stall is a permanent thing and I can never get rid of it, so I will cry a river over it, especially when the next machine comes and I see the donkey stall that I was fooled to buy under false pretence take up precious space. If it was for 1 week, no biggie.
I guess I'm at the level where xp's are the only priority. Xp's from boat and truck orders is how I attain those xp's. When an event like this negatively affects the flow of the paper, it ruins my game play in getting those items to attain those xp's. Sure, it's only for a week and things will go back to normal. But I still think these global events are an unnecessary change to the paper. It wreaks havoc on supply and demand for certain items. Maybe the end goal is to get people to use diamonds to get Tom to fetch those goods...if that's the case, SC has done a fantastic job. I'm not buying into all that nonsense.
Donkeys? I bought them because I wanted them on my farm, not because of the xp's I get from having them.
What is different about this event - and I really like it - are the prizes. Very much aporeciated!
Th DD is fine for me, the only you rarely see are sweaters and hats but hey, so many other nice items which are very rare usually.
That is the best event so far, for the rewards. Could never afford a christmas tree but now I got one :-)
This event is great, and it gave me my third Christmas tree .
Before this event I bought a Christmas tree and I were so happy too have one.
After that I thought maybe I'll buy a second one, but I didn't do that. Now I am very happy
that I waited, because in the fishingarea I found my second tree and with this global event my third.
And I also spared up the things for this event so now I'm finishend with this event I can sell my hats and sweaters at the highest price:p
I am really pleased with this event as I wasn't prepared to spend diamonds on decorations. Have just got the tree, just in time for Christmas, and it looks FAB. Yay!
Was contemplating opening another slot for 15 diamonds on the loom but figured Tom was definitely the way to go, and I have already received way more than 15 diamonds worth of prizes.
Great event, thank you SC:D
Buying items for your boat and truck from the DD is bad business sense, unless you are looking to level up quickly, because they cost more coins than you recoup from the boat or truck. It drains your cash reserves, so I can't say I understand your philosophy.
This event, as others have pointed out, allows those who can't afford to spend diamonds, but want to decorate their farms for Christmas the opportunity to do so. If Christmas doesn't interest you, fine, but please by a little understanding of SC's generosity towards those of us who like the decorations, and those of us at a higher level for whom the thought of the sled (community prize is sled, not diamonds) revives flagging interest in the game. I'm sure thoughtfulness and goodwill towards others is a tenet of any culture, so please don't rain on the global event parade.
U don't have to understand my philosophy. I'm playing the game the way I'm playing it and that involves buying items in the paper extensively to complete boat orders for myself and friends and for truck orders. Yes, bad for business if ur starting out as a newbie but coins to me is not an issue so please don't tell me it's bad business.
It seems like the majority of u love this event...awesome! I, for one, do not..so go ahead and march on to the drums of that parade. I'll be on the side counting the days til it's over.
