Attachment 23609To all my lovely and brilliant Hay Day friends and thank you so much for your care and support recently. Wishing you all a peaceful and joyful holiday and a Happy New Year packed with red boxes full of diamonds!
Now I was brought up by a father who thought that church ruined a good Sunday's sailing so religion was never a major influence in our household. Despite this, as a schoolchild I found the Christmas Story magical and captivating. Many years have passed since then, in those days it was perfectly safe for a small group of ten and twelve year olds to go carol singing on dark winter evenings, (made even more exciting if it was snowy). The money we collected was for charity and we never thought of being mugged. I'm happy to say it's still as safe now in my small Exmoor village, but the carol singing takes place in the church in various services during the run up to Christmas. They are a 'community' rather than 'religious' event, as are so many other things that take place around our church. It is the 'heart and soul' of our village, and a focal point for many people who like me are still not sure what form their God takes, but have their own particular faith which they choose to keep within their own hearts.
So allow me to add an extra 'o' and say "I believe in Good", and invite you to join in my Christmas celebrations regardless of race, creed or faith. A few years ago I was invited to celebrate Diwali, The Hindu festival of light. I am not a Hindu but that didn't stop me from feeling privileged to attend and share someone else's celebrations. So in that spirit you are warmly invited to share my Christmas with me. If for you it's a non-denominational Winter Festival or a Pagan ritual then that's fine too. For me it's about Children and Families and Love and Tradition and I'm sure that whoever your God is, he (or she) holds those things dear.
I've stolen the tune from 'Deck the Halls with Boughs of Holly' for this Christmas Hay Day song. Please feel free to add as many Tra la la's as you wish, according to your fancy and Christmas spirit!
Roadside Stalls are trimmed with Holly, (Tra la la la la, Tra la la la)
Hay Day friends are all so Jolly,
Clear across this world so wide,
Raise your glass it's Christmas-tide.
If you're living in Helsinki,
Pour yourself a little drinkie,
Or if you're a suntanned Aussie,
Hit the beach and wear your cozzy
All across the U-S-A,
From Maine to Californ-I-Yay,
Worm and Woozle send warm wishes,
Have a lovely Christmas day!
Bon Noel! to friends in France,
Join in with the Christmas chants,
All of Europe you're invited
Wrap those pressies, get excited!
Blow away that long white cloud,
Middle earth you make me proud,
String those silver fern leaves high,
Shining in the Christmas sky.
Friends in India, Asia, China,
In my thoughts there's nothing finer,
Share respect for every nation
Please join in our celebration.
I Hope you will add your Christmas greetings, stories, memories, traditions to this thread. I think it's fine to use forum names but not GC ones if you want to send greetings to particular friends. I hope you will join in.
