The problem with loot is not the amount available but the distribution of this amount

Let's do some simple math/probability comparing the old and the new loot system.

1 simple example : a TH10 attacking a TH9 focusing on the storages ONLY, forget the collectors and for simplicity, forget the loot penalty.


old system: The percentage of gold/elixir that can be stolen from storages is 25% and is capped at 198k. So it is almost 'independent' of the amount available. 1 million in the storage = 198k available; 5 millions in the storage = 198k available.

new system: percentage is capped up to 400k according to the storage amount. 1 million in the storage = 100k available; 4 millions or more in the storage = 400k available.


So the big question is : how many players have 4 millions or more right now in their storages ? Because :

before if you imagine that 25% of the players avec < than 1 million in their storage and 75% have > than 1 million then your chance to find a 198k loot available is simply 75% = 3/4

but now if you imagine that 25% of the players have < than 1 million, 25% between 1 and 2 millions, 25% between 2 and 3 millions and 25% > 3 millions, well, then your chance to find a 198k loot available (or more) is now only 50% = 2/4


So loot is out there but the distribution is completely different. More 'bad' loot around 100-150k and fewer 'good' loot around 200k or more.

Well that's not really fair cuz I just spent for upgrades. Should I vote what I had before?

Hardly a fair question as if I use myself as an example. Currently I have very little gold stored, but not because of the new system, but simply as I have nearmaxed th8 and have just the walls to finish. In about two days I will start to store gold for th9 and once that is underway I can start to fill my storages in preparation for the th getting finished. So during the query time I should go from zero to hero and back to zero. For the raiders it will simply be a matter of when thay happend to catch my base shieldless and me offline. Another day my base will be a poor excuse for a raid target, but on others it will be a gold mine.

I'm an advanced TH9 player, with a farming problem (45 lvl 9 walls in just over 3 weeks of being TH9), so I guess I'm more than anyone driven to having my storages filled all the time.
But as a matter of fact, I manage most of the time to log out with less than 2M available in my storages because I hate being looted.

That illustrates how the new loot system is broken: the percentage of player with more than 2M in their storage is WAY TOO LOW to balance the insane nerf of available loot (before upate when having 1M in storages it meant 200k loot available for others now it's ridiculous 100k).

I dont get how SC doesnt see how broken the system is.
The few players with max storages (it also often means maxed bases so less likely to be attacked by majority of players) cant make up with the overall nerf of all the bases which previously appeared as 200k bases and now appear as 100k base, non profitable....

The system is broken.

300,00~ currently but I am farming walls. Did 8 walls last night alone so I would've had 4,000,000+ if I saved it.

I have 3.5 mil gold in my storages BUT it took me at least 2X as long getting it (raiding inactives since troops aren't maxxed for TH9)

Thanks man but I farm about 6mil a day since I'm TH9 so I think I know what I'm talking about. Problem is not how good loot is, there is still lots of gold to farm with inactive bases.
But the loot system is broken and it has been explained everywhere with math how broken it is.

do not really know because the supercell is not seeing all these issues reported by players . The game got boring . very worn , very time consuming to find a good loot . Supercell not answer us , not tell us , is a total disrespect. I enjoyed myself a lot but the fact is TH9 q u will stop playing . Lots and lots of bases with 10-75K.
Nearly nothing in the 75-200K range.
And a few 200K+ bases.

People with TH8 or less usually dont have so much in their storages, because they can update something for that amount easily. Why would I sit on more than million if I can use it to upgrade simething in my base.
I will need three millions to got toTH9 but until then I spend the gold once I have enough to upgrade something inmy base.
therefore I often have very little in the storages.

Only people who should be complaining are those with premature villages and those that just upgraded their TH, even from maxed. If you are getting wiped out on your storage loot, then you are most likely saving for something you shouldn't, i.e. premature TH9 saving up for xbow before not having everything else maxed...

New loot system has been great for me, I managed 4-5 million casually per day before update, now 4-6 million per day.

agree, that's probably another 'bias' _ Who is sitting on 3-4 millions excepted almost maxed TH9 and TH10, thus already well defended bases.

Before update, loot was good, ok?
I managed to make 5m a day attacking. But the problem was, and I agree with SC on that, the loot system was old and not efficient, as we had better benefits attacking inactive bases rather than attacking fellow active clashers and looting their storages, because the loot limit, 200k, did not encourage us to take some risk attacking some highly developped bases.

So their goal was to make attacks on active bases more attractive by increasing loot limit. And this was ALL GOOD .. up until they nerfed the loot percentage.
Increasing the loot limit is good as it encourages people to quit the inactive bases raids for more "dynamics" raids between active players. But by reducing the loot percentage (from 20 to 10%), they made a huge mistake : most attractive bases (200k/200K minimum) disapeared as they were bases with people having approx 1M ressource in their storages.
Problem is that post update, the majority of player, who got ressources in their storages from 1M to 1M5, became totally worthless targets as they appear as ~100k loot bases, which is terrible and not beneficial.
And the whole point of complaining about new loot system is that mathematically, the VERY FEW people logging out with more than 3M in their storages cant make up with the overall nerf of all the majority of people who appeared as 200K bases before update and now appear as 100k base.


And what I was saying is that yes, loot is good. Loot is as good as before, because of inactive bases.

You are saying only people with full hogs or full loonions are getting good loot, yet you get 5mil a day with barbarians and archers?

I've done 4mil today so far, only 5pm, only 2 of the raids the gold was in storages, rest all in collectors. And not much searching I might add.

I'm seeing way better loot than before the update. I think the problem is holding on to raided loot with premature and/or non-farming bases.

Well said! This is my third ever post, been playing since summer 2012.
SUPERCELL FIX THE LOOT SYSTEM! Pressing "next" close to 100 times, now if I find a 200k gold target I would be thrilled! Before the update I would of never touched that poor loot!

Let's remember that the actual point of the game is to trophy hunt. Farmers (and I'm a farmer), don't really have the right to complain, given what SuperCell is trying to do, i.e. make money. The original post on the new loot system speaks to troops costing more than what can be raided. Farmers generally don't have this problem because they don't need high level troops, so, this is to make cup hunters more happy - as generally the norm is 50% trophy raids nowadays - most of the time you should get half the storages - attacking a fully loaded TH10 is then 200k of each.

I'm not saying the loot system is perfect, SuperCell has already taken a step in the right direction. For everyone to expect things to be perfect from day 1 of the change is ridiculous. Taking risks in this industry with such a big game is uncommon and I applaud SuperCell for trying. Look at COD - nothing of the core gameplay has changed for many years. Every year people complain that it's the same boring game, yet almost every year they break sales records and have a solid online community. I'm getting sick and tired of seeing 5 threads a day started by people complaining - most of these people have not spent a cent on anything, the rest a bare minimum.

This was the case before the update as well, nothing new. More often than not it's just being at the wrong trophy level at the wrong time. Things get back to "normal" eventually.

I have consistently been raiding the same or more amount of gold per day after the update I did before the update and spending less time doing so - that works for me.

I'm at 700k, once I hit 1 mil, I get 1 more wall

I can only really speak personaly and for the members that are farming in my clan today when I say:

It seems less than 1 in 100 towns below (almost maxed defence) th9 have anywhere near the cap, you can attack these towns but need to take a very fine army and as many spells as possible, this means loot per hour is terrible. Its been bad since the loot update but (again personaly speaking) has been getting worse and worse. As someone rightfully said this game is meant for gemming, those Japanese dudes didn't spend all that money so we could all farm our bases to max now did they.

If you want loot to improve I'm sorry to say that there is absolutely no point making these sort of threads about it, no matter how well thought out they are OP. Its clear to me that the loot update has done exactly what SC wanted, its no accident, they are not incompetant and the game is probably experiencing higher gems sales than ever as a result of the new loot system. If this gem bonanza will last well into next year for SC is anybody's guess.

In regards to the thread, I try my hardest to keep gold to less than a million, I have one more 7million upgrade and after that most of the time I should be able to keep gold much lower than the cap (just like most other players without disco balls). I want to max Th9 so have months and months for my builders to complete the defense upgrades while the wall and heros become maxed, so no rush for me.

Sorry I just cant help myself, a final word on the update:
I'm personaly very much less likely to spend more money on the game than ever, given the way that SC has tried to manipulated me into doing so. When it finaly does get to the stage that you must spend cash to progress in any freemium mobile game (I was alway suspicious of any product with free written anywhere near it) you can be sure the game is already or just about to be dead.

People who voted >4m because that's what they had yesterday clearly don't understand statistics and are spoiling the effort to get a genuine view. The problem is that the 4m+ bases are not evenly distributed. From anecdotal accounts i believe that people are putting more gold into walls and leaving themselves less exposed to big raids unless they feel that their bases is strong enough to repel them.

I am a TH10 with >4m gold at the moment but I haven't had a 'serious' raid in the last week. My TH is outside but it can be an hour or more before it is sniped so there is plenty of opportunity for people to have a go.

my personal experience is that while the US is asleep, I can find active and collector bases to raid within, say, 50 nexts but in my evening, when I get most chance to raid, the US is awake and I can be searching 150-200 times for a raid. Yes, I can change ranges, and I do. This isn't a TH10 sympathy-seeking post; just a statement about the loot distribution and the effect of increased activity, exacerbated by the current barracks-boost.

what surprises me with the loot changes made is that they were dramatic. Recently, SUPERCELL have been making more modest, incremental changes; the Giant buffs and Hog nerfs being great examples. I don't understand why they didn't do the same with the loot. CoC is a very complex system and dramatic changes will inevitably have dramatic consequences, as we are seeing at the moment

every few hours i have >4mil and then it's gone...so i don't know what to vote really... i have 1mil, 2mil, 3mil, 4mil several times a day....arrhhhhhhhh there's no right answer!!

Honestly you can't say someone isn't an advanced th9 when you're a premmie th10. Also yes the new system is great for YOU. The update and loot system was made for th10's. I'd like to see if you were still saying the system is great if you were losing over 300 k gold every defense from being attacked by a higher th lvl.

I've done 4mil today so far, only 5pm, only 2 of the raids the gold was in storages, rest all in collectors. And not much searching I might add.

I'm seeing way better loot than before the update. I think the problem is holding on to raided loot with premature and/or non-farming bases.

The whole point of the update was to encourage storage raids, but as the OP, most others bragging about their loot, and you yourself point out, the vast majority of "big" raids are still on inactive bases. Whatever you may think of the current loot availability, the new system appears to have failed in its intent.

Sorry have to disagree, mostly mine/collector days are few, I take most my loot from fully loaded TH8/9, sometimes TH10 with bad or no inferno tower placement. Basically anything with 250k+ gold gets it.

Loot is much better than before, there is no denying that!

I spent 4 million gold about a minute before I saw this poll. Guess I'm in the below 1 mil group. XD

After losing well over half a mil gold over night, started dumping the gold where I can. Had 4.6 mills, now am safely at 400k. The system, with all "good" intents it was claimed to have, did mostly just the opposite. I understand why it is the way it is but it ruins the game for a big chunk of casuals. I think we are, more or less, stuck with the current system. Unfortunately the long known wisdom of "adapt or die" counts, but many just cannot adapt.

Plenty of blame is put into the shoulders of those who cannot adapt. But this is different case, compared to all the previous changes of CoC. Changing the in-game behavior, which used to be enough, will not save your bacon. If you cannot change the hours spent in the game and didn't yet have a base that can hold the loot (near maxed 9/10), you will have harder time to get forward in the game.

This could have been rectified by increasing the production rate of TH levels, whose max loot lost on one go was increased.

I have full Gold and Elixir storages. :D

I fear you are in the minority, Rynoster, but that's great to hear. Storage raids are far more entertaining, but I'm still seeing most of my big loot in collectors. Might have been a bit better today, though, so maybe the new system is finally settling in. Or maybe it just needs time to trickle down to TH8. Seems everyone at my level is spending gold as fast as they can, so storages are generally low. Still, loot seems to be improving. 😎😎😎

Hell yeah!! I'm gonna abuse the system as long as the lix boost exist and I'm dumping everything into walls rofl at those 300ks out there. Unless I plan to clash for long enough to make 5m to upgrade something like on weekends, I'm NOT gonna save over 1 million.
