OP asked specifically to keep away certain stuff from here:
"This is NOT a thread about whether or not the loot system is working. PLEASE do not post about whether you think the loot system is working or not in this thread - there are numerous other threads for that. This thread's purpose is to offer a different approach to hopefully alleviate some frustration from those who are having trouble farming. No loot-related opinions here, please! Thank you."
I'm pretty certain that includes loot pics as well, so let's try and respect his request.
Honestly I'm not farming and havn't farmed for a while now so I couldn't really say whether or not I agree with the points you made as my loot experience has much different at my trophy level. Most of my original post is based off of how I've been improving my ability to trophy hunt (and it has worked wonders) so it seemed logical that it would translate to farming as well (since what I'm really saying in a nutshell is go find out as much as you can from others and apply it to your own gameplay).
I don't think there is one big secret to success in farming, or a specific formula / pattern to follow but I would be surprised if it was completely random. I suspect that those who are finding good loot and are able to consistently find it are constantly adjusting their trophy range and army / strategy in order to do so. It seems that people all rush to one trophy range to farm, which I imagine causes that trophy range to dry up rather quickly. So while some people keep hitting next wondering where the loot went, others immediately adjust to find the next hotspot before it gets swarmed.
But regardless of whether it's totally random or if there is some sort of pattern to follow, the best thing anyone can do right now is to keep sharing their experiences with each other and apply what they see others doing to themselves. For example Just at a glance I see that Jazz is picking some raids with less than 100k gold in them, many people would probably not bother with raids as small as that even tho when looking at Jazz's full list of raids within an hour it suddenly becomes quite apparent that those smaller raids are adding up quite a bit since each raid is only 3-5 minutes apart.
Great thread but I think you overlooked the biggest key factor which is time. I find that people who complain are the more casual raiders who say they can only 1 hour a day. Loot is inconsistent and if you are in one of the top farming clans, you are playing hours a day/week and you will look at every corner for loot. Farming is so basic and simple if all you want is gold. This game comes down to raiding collectors. Storage raids are a bonus and second priority unless you build super armies for 1-2 raids an hr.
There are many factors which make a difference to one's success in farming, and I agree that time is a big one. If you can stay online for hours that's going to make a big difference. But even if someone can only play for 45 minutes before going on defense I beleive it's still possible for them to make at least enough of a profit to negate the resources lost on defense and still have a bit more than before. From the many threads I've been reading debating this, the main issue seems to consistently be that before finding resources consistently was very formulaic where as now it has become much more scattered in terms of trophy level, how many resources are acceptable to raid, and whether to go for collectors or storages etc.
There may not be one specific place to find amazing loot every raid now, but people are still managing to farm and loot is still being circulated - thus the reason for this thread, to urge people having trouble farming to figure out what they can change to improve their situation.
Time is a huge factor, but that has always been the case so I don't think it's the sole issue that will determine whether or not one can continue to progress.
I'd like to remind everyone that storage raids can be just as profitable as collector raids now. Before you would need to destroy all 4 gold storages to get 200k. Now all you need to destroy is 2 (assuming they have 4 mil or more stored). So find a base with full storages and aim for 2 storages, if you still have troops left over go for a third.
To share my own experience, last night I had about 2hrs free to farm. I was conducting an experiment with my clan so I actually literally counted over 100 skips before finding a 100k base. I found 4-5 abandoned bases that all had under 50k Gold. After the 2hrs I had made a profit of under 100k while my clan leader was getting around 300k every raid with the same TH and trophy range.
This morning I woke up to 4 attacks on my base so with even less Gold than I had yesterday. So I disagree, a casual player cannot get anything from the game with these sorts of rates.
