i started upgrading building(twice on BB ) but i didnt get the book of building
This was the only book I need as a max th12 and I can’t get it
I guess you need to upgrade existing building , what i did was bought new building from the shop(which does not count)
No bug for me i just upgrade my dark elixir drill and i get the book of building.
Not sure, i just started upgrading giant and no book
the event is “start an upgrade”, not start upgrading a building!

I have more or less the same issue. I started upgrading my giga tesla to lvl 5 and it didn't complete the event. Maybe it's because it isn't technically its own building?
SC changed the definition of what an upgrade is they just didn't change it the game. Troops and walls are no longer upgraded my guess is that they are now enhanced. I delayed both so that I could complete this event since all my building and traps are upgraded.
I upgraded my archer queen and the event didn’t award me book then I attacked to get my last bit of gold so I could upgrade a building and once I fished my attack it awarded my book for some strange reason.

I also did not receive the book when updating the existing giga tesla to level 2. This was about 30 minutes into the event.
