Is training potion ineffective for last 10 minutes

I have been observing this for quiet a few time. Recent example is that i was training an army with training time 40 minutes. The last 5 minutes of boost were left. So after 5 minutes 20 min training must have finished. In the mean time i did an attack and when returned to my village the training time left was 33 minutes. I have observed it a lot of times since i have started using training potion. So if really want to have full value of your training potion. You must stick around your home base and see your army getting trained otherwise supercell do these cheap tricks and cheats with you.

See if others also observe the same.

Chances are, that you miscalculated.

More tests are needed.

If an army required 45 minutes and potion is less 10 minutes...... system calculate the 4x on the 45 minutes of army and less 10 minutes of potion....think about a full army of witch....or gibowi....53 minutes of army.... potion is 6 minutes ? too late...

You don't give enough variables for a correct calculation... so please don't use terms like 'cheap tricks' and 'cheat' without all the relevant information...

I have not witnessed such things myself, whenever I use a training potion my army is ready after raiding. Unless a training potion is about to and will run out but then a proportionate training time has passed when I get back to my village.

One thing to keep in mind is that you don’t have any barracks upgrading when looking at these things or also calculate with the correct army training time with the barrack upgrading because as we know army training time generally goes up when barracks are upgrading and part of your army comes from those barracks types.

The times seems to be reasonable at the end ........ but the displayed timer are often completely out of tune meanwhile, when a potion is about to run out.

And in the end of last 10 to 15 min it gets slow

^ I think this is the answer. The potion works OK, but the timer in the main troop screen doesn't count it properly. When there is plenty of potion left the troop screen shows the boosted time. But when the potion will run out soon, it doesn't seem to use the correct potion time, and it will overstate the time remaining

Part of that confusion is caused by the issue that there’s several timers for troop training time in different screens and when there’s a boost on these timers are inconsistent. There’s the army overview screen showing remaining time and the barrack and spell queue where you load your army and spells to cook.

When you use a boost or potion one screen will show the normal cook time counting down at high / boosted speed. For example if the army takes 20 minutes it shows 20 minutes counting down fast.
Whereas another screen will show the actual time left of how long you really have to wait for the army to be ready on boosted speed and that counts down just as any normal clock would. so a 20 minute army would show as 5 minutes because that’s the actual time it takes.

And that has confused me on occasions as well.

To be as exact as possible (I never cared enough to figure out the exact trigger), somewhere in the last 10-20 minutes of training potion time, the calculated time will go inaccurate if the non-boosted time is greater than the amount of training potion time you have left. However, boost does continue. If youy have any questions about this, go to the troop training page and see the timer fast counting. Once non-boosted time drops under the amount of training potion time, it will show the correct calculated time.

I tried to explain that as simply as possible, but it's a complex error and my primary language (gibberish/Engineerese) was taking over my fingers.

Bottom line, the calculated time is completely messed up at the end. SC isn't cheating anybody.

The worst thing the OP could accurately say is that it's sloppy programming.
