Riverbears

Just wanted to say I really miss all the CaveBears and RiverBears. Unfortunately, it seems there is no turning Corugi from his chosen path. I don't know what to do.

I pretty much agree with the above. Being new, I'm not really sure yet how much I will be online and donating. I have nothing to work out my averages from.

I suspect that when I will be the least active, will be when I am the most stressed and overworked at work. I would hate to think that a bad week at work would get me kicked from the forum coz I like chatting with everyone here. Everyone seems really nice despite the current 'difficulties'.
The game is so much more fun when there are people to share with and tease and write poetry etc.
After all, it is a game and supposedly a relaxing way to destress from normal life.
Anyway, that is my 2 cents worth (and now that really shows my age since our 2 cent coins were taken out of commission in 1990), so maybe it should be my 5 cents worth, but I don't really think it is worth that much...

All you that want a change come join us we don't have silly rules and we welcome all levels. There is no need for you to stay in this dictatorship. ICEBEARS ARE THE BEST!!!!

Minimum Donation/week: ~100 (will be increase in the future)
Age: +18
Trophies: 1400 (?)

Presently we have three clans. Riverbears and Cavebears and Icebears. The standard of conduct in all clans is the same. We are Vikings. We are barbaric. Icebears has no donation requirement.

Activity

Riverbears must post in this thread in order to remain in the clan.

Cavebears do not have to post in any thread. But they are considered more valuable members if they do so.

Icebears is currently a low activity clan and has no requirements.

There are mysterious and secret reasons why the Guardian has set up the clans like this. It is probably not best to ask.

WHO THE VALHALLA IS THIS GUARDIAN YOU KEEP MENTIONING? AND CAN WE GO RAIDING NOW?

Riverbears and Cavebears are unique in having a political structure that includes the position of Guardian in addition to the Leader and Elders. The role of the Guardian is shadowy and mysterious. The Guardian can often be found in places of disrepute, usually drunk and slumped over a bar. Other than upholding our Viking culture, the Guardian performs an administrative role, ensures that the rules of the clan are upheld, and provides advice and assistance to the Leader. The Guardian is responsible for guiding the long term strategic interests of the clan by maintaining and updating the rules when and if necessary. When sober.

So why bother having a Leader then?

The relationship between the Guardian and Leader is essential to maintaining the long term stability of the clan. The leader applies the rules, the Guardian ensures the rules are applied justly. The leader controls the elders, the Guardian appoints the elders. The leader acts on advice from the Guardian but is often not bound by the Guardians recommendations. Both the Leader and Guardian deny each other power, so a balance exists where they are forced to work together for the benefit of the clan.
