Right now, there is a 50% elixir penalty for selecting the wrong spell in the spell factory. To the best of my knowledge, this penalty serves no purpose whatsoever, and it should be eliminated.
Also, a made a thread about this year ago, and no one read it, but: a loading screen that informs players about the town hall loot penalty.
Hey Mendax, give the game developers a little credit! Just because you hate the penalties does not mean that they serve no purpose! I am actually going to have to argue that I like the cancellation penalty. I think that it puts a very deserved emphasis on having good foresight and making sure you are wholly deliberate in your upgrade choices.Quote:

I would even go so far as to say that the cancellation penalty is a core mechanic of the entire game. Calculating what you can afford to put out of commission for large swathes of time is part of the game's whole base-building strategy.
I know it sucks to have to fork over such huge amounts of money when we make mistakes but it just makes it all the more important that we try to make as little mistakes as possible.
It's maybe because of the elixir bank? Where rig before a troop is upgraded, you train a bunch of it

Oops, I accidentally hit the spell factory, then even MORE accidentally hit create spells, and EVEN MORE accidentally tapped on a spell. I should get a full refund, because it was a complete accident.

The argument that "it trains players not to make mistakes" is ridiculous. If the devs wanted to do that (for whatever reason, I have no idea why they would be against players hitting the wrong button), then there would also be a penalty for training the wrong troop, but there isn't.
I thought it might be to prevent players from banking elixir, but since you can't que more spells once you have the max made, that argument doesn't work either.
Really, there is no reason for this, and I would think with everyone complaining about loot, a penalty that takes elixir out and adds nothing in return wouldn't be too popular.
lets make up a hypothetical situation lets say im sitting down im going to press make a rage spell but someone hits me with a computer and your nose slams on the phone and starts to make 4 jumps spells boom that must happen to everyone as often as it does to me.Quote:

Or change 50% to 75%. Or just 100% like troops. It happens, people are in a rush fast training some archers, and make three heal spells too, they will rage like they drank their rage potion too fast!

I have to say that as much it is irritating, it does stop spell banking. Imagine if you could troop and spell bank, you would be able to store most of your elixir overnight from attackers!
P.S Quick thought would it be beneficial to spell bank and pay the penalty of losing half your loot or leaving it in your storages? :confused:

It may have had a place when spells were first introduced [much higher time & elixir cost]. But those are immaterial now, and only punish those who quick train using the left right barrack/spell switch. Which is a really handy feature, but has caught many of us out before and we have to lose elixir to fix our spell mix. :(
