So the consensus is to MAX out EVERYTHING before upgrading to TH8. But DE is the toughest because we don't have a collector for it and so you can only raid for this resource.
How many people were actually able to raid enough DE to upgrade minions, hog riders, and BK (up to what lvl) at TH7?
Any pro tips for raiding DE?
To be honest, I don't think it's possible to fully upgrade without using gems for DE...we're talking about 105,000 DE for full upgrade @ TH7!
No shame in waiting until th8 to max DE upgrades as the level 5 troops help a ton. If you can get the minion upgrade and a BK upgrade or two at th7 that is good enough in my opinionQuote:

It's not hard to get DE at TH 7 and you don't need a fancy army or bush league tactics like lightning on storages. Just go to right around 1600 trophys and use BAM (fill up 2 barracks with barbs, 2 barracks with archers, and 1 with minions and just keep the troops building constantly). Then go out and pick off drills and storages that are accesible behind one wall. I know you will be tempted to try and take down those bases with 2k+ DE in the middle but just skip those. There are plenty of inactive or poorly designed bases where you can take easy DE. And don't worry about trophys just get the DE. When you need to keep your trophy count up snipe THs that are easily exposed.
This method does require you to sit on the game for at least an hour and you should be able to get 3k-4k DE per hour (after minion costs) at TH7.
On second thought....all of your bonuses for attacking higher THs are now gone with this wonderful update so you are probably looking at only getting 2k per hour. You can thank SupeCell for that. :p
All this "max everything at TH7" mantras are outdated.
That's a good point. Since there are no more bonuses for attacking higher lvl bases you might as well go to TH8. It's much easier to get DE with lvl 5 barbs/archers and lvl 4 minions.Quote:

I am at the opposite spectrum. I've gotten to much DE as a TH 7 and only have 1 more upgrade to go. But I've stopped trying to get DE so that I won't be maxed and wasting DE soon. All my other upgrades are way behind me DE upgrades.
True, my case is pretty rare.. but I still don't think its that bad for most people.
pre-update it was easy, brew balloonion or dragonion and troll TH9s at 1700+ range, it's usually a good 2000 DE due to the TH bonus.
after the update it was much harder, you lose more DE (5% -> 6%) and won't be able to find huge targets.
I was lucky to get mine taken care of 1 day before the update, and I'm sorry that you'll have to go through this the hard way.
My current TH7 has got plenty of DE around 1400-1600, haven't got all me DE work done by any means, but defenses etc not yet maxed either. I'm aiming to get hogs upgraded (minions already done), and anything I can get on the King is gravy.
My older account got BBking to level 4 as TH7, but dark troops were not yet released, that was a bit of work but quite do-able by raiding up to about 1800 and just trashing bad TH9+ bases' DE stores. Of course the old loot bonus helped a LOT, I got some raids up to 4k+ DE, from weak bases.
In the "new world", I'd say you should still definitely max out everything in your lab at TH7... EVERYTHING. Why? Because at TH8, the lab is a huge bottleneck, you can max your base way before you can max all your troops, especially if you have 5 builders (probably even with 4).
Your king is purely optional, I got my king to level 4 at TH7, then at TH8 I'd maxed him to level 10 halfway through maxing TH8. So you can easily catch up, if you raid at higher trophies.
What I'm doing is townhall sniping and attacking whatever is in the drills. Usually I'm able to net 2-3k per hour on a good day. Only go for the drills that are lv3 and above (the gold ones) as the lv2 and below ones give next to nothing.
DE raiding is harder now after the update, but the old tactics still work.
Breaking into the base to get the storage is risky if it is well protected with level 4 troops so just Pick off exposed Drills and storages if you can. The concept lightning spelling DE will ♥♥♥♥ some people here off but it's easy and has no risk. It does, however, cost Elixir and takes 90min.
Use Giant-Healer, aim for 1k+ non centralised storages...
It really isn't hard, just takes a lot of practise (A lot!)
10-15k a day is easily achievable :)
Master 2 is 500 dark elixir. I know for a fact I will max all DE way before anything else except collectors so have long stopped lightning. Elixir is now way more desired than dark for me.
New update with no loot bonus and overpowered infernos is not looking good.
I am currently a th7 and have finished all my DE upgrades. It was pretty easy and i donate alot of dark troops all the time. The way to collect DE quick is to get up in trophies as high as you can, attack drills and drop lightnings on storages with 2k+ DE in them. The higher in trophies the better as the higher th's usually have ALOT. The most from one attack was just over 2k DE, the player had 7k to give.
