Or if there was more communication about it all.

I think SC's attention is focused mostly on FB and how many likes they can get there. This is still just a neat way to keep the rants in a single place and not spill to the "public". So those, who like the game might "like" the game and post some positive comments on the FB, while people with problems are guided to here, where the rants will be muffled by... even more rants.
It's actually pretty genious way to handle a big bunch of people and as there isn't a real community, it's better to keep the positive away from the negative. Positive = FB, Negative = forums. From a forum-user viewpoint, that's some seriously messed up way to handle things, but what can you do?
No matter how much we talk here, how accurate our assesments of the game & forums are, SC can always just play the "but you are only a small %"-card.
The forum is starting to turn into another version of global, a place where i cringe to even look at. Not that I want to relive the glory days but what happened to all the old forumers with the positive attitudes and constructive feedback.
Other than a select few all I see now is posts just complaning and not ever throwing back a solution, someone asks a simple question and they get hit with "newb, moron, put your collectors in a corner .....". As someone who comes onto the forums a few times a day when i'm on a break I want to read something that help promote the game or at least has some constructive critism that sparks a good debate. This thread to me is very interesting as there is a few other like minded individuals.
So all that being said to make the forums even better I think some tough love needs to be handed out, the mods do a pretty decent job trying to police the forums and considered most aren't paid but do it for the love of the game I tip my hat off to them but to get this forum running the way it was earlier this year any infraction of TOS BAM 1 day ban, second infraction 3 day and so on. I am not usually a fan of using the ban hammer but seems lately it is out of control, and like someone said before I refuse to use FB to get information.
Just my 2 cents
Some of them have left, some still lurk but rarely post anymore, some still try to contribute to a increasingly unreceptive audience, and some have become so bitter from getting flamed / trolled that they don't bother to try to contribute.
I don't think being more strict with banning people would be very effective. People create multiple accounts so as to spam the forums with multiple threads about the same ropic / to bump their own threads, so even if the mods banned one, ten more would pop up.Quote:

It seems to have become a pattern in the last several updates that completely regardless of what the update actually consists of, people will immediately complain about it (often before even trying it out, often before it is even released).
Latest example being SC giving everyone the 1 gem boost to elix and barracks (a mini update that is 100% about providing a discount to everyone) which has, like usual, cause numerous complaints to pop up.
At this point the only solution I can think of is for them to make a separate section for complaints. General has become almost entirely made up of complaints about the same few topics, and has a very volatile and immature attitude in most cases. This is driving away more and more members of the forums which is frustrating to those of us who enjoy the content those members used to contribute.
As much as I enjoy these forums and would love to see / help things improve, I've honestly been considering just giving up and leaving the forums as well. It's sad because the people constantly complaining only represent part of the forum community, and more so only represent part of the clash community, but they are yelling and screaming so loudly that they are quickly becoming the only voice that is heard on these forums.
The large number of responses in this thread gave me hope / confidence that it was possible to still come up with a solution. But the massive number of threads full of people flaming anyone who dares disagree with them has been consistently frustrating me so much to the point where I'm finding it hard to really care anymore.
Oops i didn't reply with qoute but what you said above Phal pretty much summed up the way I feel as well. I know I don't have a ton of posts but I've lurked on forums for a long time and it's just to bad to see it go this way, oh well end of the day I suppose it's just a game but to see so many people act so immaturaly makes me wonder what the future holds for these forums.
Now hold on a minute, don't pretend Supercell is blameless in this. I mean, let's look at their update history. Immediately after releasing a new troop (the witch), they realize that people can spam the troop for an easy three-star. So, after nerfing the troop they decide to buff the hog rider. Now, somehow the company of tech professionals with the stats-of-the-art battle simulator did not foresee that people would use the exact same tactic with this newly buffed troop and leave them with the exact same problem.
And after that update they gave us one where they reduced the loot percentages. Hmmm... Reduce the loot percentages, has that ever happened before? Yes, when they did it before and lowered it from 25% to 20%. And what was the reaction the? People hated it. What did they think would happen this time?
It's Supercell's game, and I know the only thing that it (and these forums) exist is so that it will generate Supercell revenue. But when they do unpopular things and then keep doing them it tends to make people progressively less happy.
With most user created content / videos / guides / etc being submitted to third party sites while the forums appear to be deteriorating in both maturity and content, I can only see the variety of opinions and feedback becoming even more skewed and inaccurate.
I've been seeing high level players less and less frequently on the forums, and when one does speak up they tend to immediately get bullied excessively until they stop trying to share their opinion.
The high level players who actually finance this game have always been under represented on the forums, but at this point the only feedback being communicated / getting any sort of attention seems to be from the lower level players who think that they are entitled to everything and anything that they ask for.
I agree that SC has made some hasty / detrimental updates, no one is claiming that SC is perfect nor is anyone saying that no updates have been worthy of complaints. But currently there is basically one primary voice being heard while any opposing or varying opinion is immediately flamed or knocked to the back of the forums from the constant spam of new threads about the same topic.
This.
And I'm getting more and more the read from all the official comments, that it is/was all intentional. Every little change is calculated. By ignoring the forums complaints but still keeping an eye on them, provides SC the feedback on far they can pull this plan of theirs and by the looks of it, it's not even close to the point where people will skip town. So one could complement SC for boldly taking advantage of the general "no freaking clue", that majority of players have.
Now... when it comes to the forums, it gets more and more clear every day on how things will be. Endless complaints (for a reason) clashing against the fanatic fanboys&girls, with both factions taken strong root on the forums. Both sides uses insults and single screenshots as their arguments and the few real arguments for either way, will get buried on the endless junk.
Would it be possible to do something about that? Yes.
Does it look like something is gonna be done about that? Not so much.
Doomsayers, village idiots, whiners... Call what you will, but the amount of people with proper (for the lack of better word) "talking skills" is diminishing and stomped down so much, that it is amazing how few still even try.
Am I bitter? Yes. All the attempts to even try to get someone wake up has gotten me little else than grief. But maybe I should rather see the small amount of joy from few folks whom I've met here.
