screen is HUGE now

I did the newest update and now everything on my screen is humongous. It's like everything is magnified times 10. If I click on one of my things like the baking oven the screen that pops up and shows me what I can cook in it takes up my entire 10 inch screen. I even changed my font to smaller on my actual tablet and that did nothing. It's only in this game and it's only since the update. It was fine last night. I can't even pinch the screen small enough to see even a fraction of my farm. It's so big that it's actually uncomfortable to look at. I feel like I'm 3 years old and I'm looking at a baby book or I'm 90 and have to have everything huge to be able to see! Is there anywhere in the game to change it?

I also just realized that the newspaper you can buy stuff from now only has 4 things per page instead of 12 or whatever it was before. It's almost like instead of it knowing I'm on a tablet it thinks I'm on my cell phone. The newspaper on my tablet now looks like the newspaper on my cell phone.... I hope that's a glitch!

my mum is on an amazon fire tablet - just updated and has the same problem. It's like the phone app version has been installed rather than the tablet version. (Reason I say this is because the mail box only has two listings each page rather than many on the tablet version. How does she fix please?

Exactly! That's funny you say that because I just realized that when I went back to gameplay so I went in and edited my original post about the newspaper. I really really hope this is just a glitch

If this isn't a glitch I am done. I am sure it is a glitch. Everything is so big it isn't funny. The icons cover most of the screen.

My main play device is my iPad Air running iOS 12.1 , and it looks fine post update. My phone is secondary, it's a Samsung Galaxy s7 edge, running Android 8.0. After the update, it still looks fine on my phone, just as it did before.

Same problem on original Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 P7300 (2011 model) running Android 4.0.4

If you open the road side shop it just shows four boxes etc. and the screen is full.

I wonder if it's to do with the screen dimensions .... Resolution 800 x 1280 pixels, 16:10 ratio and the program thinks it's on a phone

(it's fine on may galaxy tab S3 SM-T810 & my motorola G5 phone looks as I'd expect it to)

had the same problem on my phone, it's a change in dpi, the standard dpi was 320, had to change it to 225, now it's normal again.
don't know if SC gonna change that to it was before...

I play on a Samsung Galaxy Tab3 and when I opened my shop, it shows a long row of crates instead of the usual two rows.

EDIT: The newspaper is showing 4 items for sale instead of 12 items prior to the update.

Yup, Fire tablet here too and it's HUGE!
I thought perhaps it was my fault as I updated through Google Play and for the wrong version, instead of through Amazon as I normally do, but even after uninstalling the game and reinstalling through Amazon, it's the same.
Hope they fix it soon!

Same happening here on a tablet with android settings- I've tried to tweak a bunch of different ways but when I get to a manageable view, the quality is blurry :(

Yeah, it's everywhere, achievements screen, barn/silo inventory page, the whole UI. The maintenance was just about new derby week reset, probably.
Btw, tablets ARE mobile devices, Nick ☺

Try going into the settings for your device and reset the resolution to default settings. This may or may not help but worth a try.

I'm tempted to screenshot my shop and ask Player Support if it's a feature or a bug? :)

But I'm not in the mood to tangle with Sparky the Gatekeeper at the moment. The Supercell Automated Support is discouraging me to use the in game help.

EDIT on December 10, 2018: I chose the "Report a bug" option and asked Player Support to look at my shop. It's displaying one row of trays instead of two rows prior to the update. Let's see if they will respond to my bug report.

So change it back. I have a large screen phone a "phablet" and this update makes me mad as hell. You are handicapping people on phones in favor of people on tablets for what reason exactly? On my small phone I expect to have the current sized RSS and Newspaper, but on my bigger phone where I went into the device settings and made everything smaller to get more onto the screen, I do not expect this. Frankly, if this is a permanent change, I am likely to quit altogether. I am not hard of sight and do not need you to help me see each individual item on the screen. The rest of the people in my hood are of the same mind. This change makes absolutely zero sense.

When my wife updated and was like, "what the hell!?" I told her that this was likely an intended change. For whatever nonsensical reason, they decided to lock the game UI independent of device settings. Stupid, hugely stupid move.

Everything is pretty much gone American sized. RSS is enbiggered, newspaper is enbiggered, anything from townsfolk to machines to boats, etc., are all enbiggered.

You basically can't see anything any more. If this is the intended change, then someone call the maternity ward. The kid is about to come out.

I am also playing on a fire tablet and having the same problem. Everything is huge and it is giving me a headache.

I'm so glad it's not just me. I actually contacted support and they got back to me a couple hours later and said that it is something that they are working on to fix. Cross your fingers. I can't keep playing it if it's going to be like this. It's literally giving me a headache

To lock our UI on our phones is just absurd. What makes tablet users better exactly? everyone spends the equal amount of money on this game and to force it upon us is just dumb. I don't understand why to mess something what was before OK. It is bad that there are no options to change settings in the game. Now is everything really HUGE. Why to divide smartphone and tablet people? The smartphones are also 6+" big and the playing is now totally ridiculous and very bad. Please do it back as it was before the update!!! Why is so hard to check the screen size and resolution?? I think that now the game unplayable ob 5.5" or 6+" smartphones. (My phone has 6.41").

WTH? Why are you forcing people into things? There is something seriously unhinged with you totalitarian types. We can't even have a zoomed out interface where we can see things. Oh no, you must see only what Big Brother allows you to see.

Come on, man! Are you doing this just to see how far you can push people before they give up on the game or are you guys serious about the game as a service?

I can't even see anything now once I click on anything. RSS, newspaper, even the machines. They all pop up in my face and fill up the whole screen and overlaps the other bits of the UI like the Friends bar. And there is nothing I can do to stop that. There is not even a setting that allows me to put the size of the pop-ups to where they were. This is nuts!

This is beyond riling. This makes the game pretty much unplayable. Your newspaper is now 4 boxes instead of 16. A single crate in the RSS takes up the whole screen. Everything overlaps the icons on the sides that you use to talk to your 'hood-mates or bring up the Friends interface, amongst other things.

I don't see how that is a UI improvement unless Supercell thinks all of us are legally blind.

I got the funny feeling that Hay Day is no longer making Supercell the kind of money it demands. The slew of cash grabs that have turned up lately seem to point that way. This latest change would basically be a tactic to get people to turn off the game so that they can close the game down with minimal bad PR and use the servers for something else.

Glad to see I'm not alone with this serious problem. I have a android tablet, since this update, my farm layout is normal size, but all prompts are huge, products as you get them are huge, the RSS slots are huge, the news paper is huge. WOW makes it tough to play. This really needs to be fixed. Please put it back the way it was.

I am angry and all so salty because all but 1 of my HD friends quitted the game, mostly because it was getting unfun quite fast. The bugs, glitches, the unkillable stealing bots, the derby troubles, the town and other glitches etc. They just couldn't find the incentive to fire up the game anymore. I understand that many HD players don't have (or are not looking for) other options, other games and are clinging to it.. I was accustomed to pay good money for the games i loved to play and get good service in return. No game is perfect and bug-less, but other devs at least LOOK LIKE they care, while we get canned answers for our problems and bugs and glitches started to take...ages to get fixed making the game programmers look carefree, detached and incompetent, thus losing player's confidence and trust in them and the game.
Sorry for venting. I think i feel a bit better now, not sure yet.

1680x1050 display res. and my game looks like I'm on a Iphone 4. There's a reason I quit playing on a phone and moved to a larger display. Do everyone a favor and please either give people the option to set it themselves or give people their screen back.

What app? In my Android device there is a setting to change to a lower DPI. When I did it, restarted the game, it's still HUGE. No change.

Is there an ETA on a fix for this? Really annoying having giant icons.

Personally if so many are upset why not just change it back? seemed to of worked fine until they messed it up. I still don't understand why they fooled with it anyway. If they want to FORCE this on us, at least give us the option to turn it off. Not everybody wants their screen to be huge.

The same has happened to me. I can't play it anymore, it's just so big, the newspaper layout, and shops are just what it was like on my phone. I bought a tablet to play on and now it's just gone like my phone was. I'm level 136 and been playing years, but I can no longer play when it's like this. 😢

im astonished though a 7inch year old amazon fire tablet would be pushed into using a mobile version. 😮 Please reconsider or give users ability to chose. You will lose another user if my mum can't use the old version because as others said it's like she's been given a baby's version.

I'm playing the game via a all in one computer via Blue Stacks and I am having the same issue. Its pretty obnoxious to have huge screens when your already on a 20" screen.

I absolutely refuse to install another app to fix this one. I had no issue adjusting my device settings because I preferred the increased real estate. Whatever reasoning they are using is flawed.

Go look at your reviews on Google Play now Supercell. Those stellar reviews you were getting are turning into an angry mob. I am level 62 and have spent real money on the game and it is now to a point where the game is unplayable. Thank you for ruining m favorite game. Android phones have a setting that iPhones don't, it's a display setting, similar to smaller text, except it makes everything on the display smaller. We could basically have tablet mode view on our phone, but after the update everything is zoomed in and now I'm reading they did this on purpose!! What's the reasoning for changing something nobody asked for? Why not let the players decide how they want to play instead of force feeding them!

The force feeding rankles more than anything else. However, as we experienced with the town hall debacle, Supercell is just going to tell us dumb scrubs to suck it up while laughing all the way to the bank at the masochistic streak of their players.

I can't believe this, Hay Day intended this? I switched from playing on my smartphone to this tablet to get better game play.

Yeah me too. Supercell should make available an optional update to revert the game UI back to how it was before the forced, mandatory change.

Same problem here. My older kindle (the version 1.0 I think) is fine and the UI looks like it always has. The newer kindle is not so fine with all the resolution problems mentioned above. I'm not sure I understand why because they are both the same size (7 inch).

Their device type detection software is flawed: it thinks some of the tablets out there are actually phones with small screens and forces on them the phone User Interface with big boxes and all.

Which I can live with for that matter. Mistakes and bugs happen. If this was an actual mistake. But if this is intentional -as Nick seems to indicate- they're ticking a lot of people off with this one. I mean, who wants a tablet (or a Chrome-book) to have the HUD resolution of their small phone? I certainly don't. This is not the 19th century anymore. :smirk:

What did you download? I have a Galaxy Tab 2 and you can't change the DPI on it. I downloaded an app that tells me what my DPI is and it's already at 160. My screen is so humongous though

Sorry I just saw this. I clicked on a gear in gameplay and then clicked on help and support. At the top of that page it says new update what's new or something like that. I clicked that and then I clicked the top one again that said what's new and then in the bottom right corner it said contact us. I don't know if it gives a phone number.

Blue Stacks is a PC application that emulates android mobile devices so those games can be run on PC also. That fix is not for us tablet users i think.

@Mootje: when i contacted support about the L bot, it just allowed me to type a sort of e-mail with a screenshot attached, no phone.

Thank you Nick for clarifying the source of the expected behavior for some Android tablet users. Please note that I also play Clash of Clans and Clash Royale and the new mobile/tablet mechanism hasn't affected my visual experience as it has on HD jarringly.

I asked Player Support about 24 hours ago and I ask you now: Does Team Hay Day intend the shop to show one row of trays instead of two rows prior to the update? Please see below for screenshot from a forumite using an Android tablet. Thank you.

BTW, my Samsung Galaxy Tab3 displays a shop almost as big as the screenshot.

It's ridiculous that they aren't going to fix this.
I don't know anyone who is happy with it but they don't seem to care.
For 2+ days now, I haven't even bothered with the paper or my shop or anything else that requires seeing these huge displays.

If its not going to be fixed, then SC deserve what they get when the customers spend the Christmas break finding another way to spend thier time.

Bear in mind it takes four times the effort to regain a lost customer than it did to win them in the first place, so it affects new games not yet thought of too.

if you are using an emulator, it's very easy to lower the DPI to a point its normal again.
it can also be done with android phones and tablets, don't know about iphone or ipad, don't use those devices.

From an earlier poster: If you are using Bluestacks, lower the DPI to 160 and use "System Default".

That, apparently, solves your problem.

I have the same problem after the new update using Windows 10 and both the Blue Stacks 4 and MEmu Android emulators. MEmu is set to emulate a tablet, not a phone. Changing the Blue Stacks resolution to System Default and the DPI 160 as recommended above solved the issue for me.

I too installed the update on my Android tablet, and like everyone else here find that the icons, Daily Dyrt, and roadside shop are huge. After uninstalling and reinstalling a couple of times, and changing my device font size, I quickly realized that the problem wasn't my device or something I could fix, but rather the update itself. I contacted game support and the reply was that this is a known issue that they "are looking into", and that perhaps changing my screen resolution would help. My tablet is a 3 year old Samsung running Android version 4.2.2, which has no option in Display or any other setting to change the resolution. Hay Day gameplay on this tablet was fine, no huge icons etc. before the update. Here's a novel idea Supercell....reverse the update. Clearly all the great minds behind technical aspects of this game have no clue how to fix the issue so many of us are having since your wonderful update.

One of my hoodies has tried everything customer service suggested with zero luck. Because it’s so bad she’ll be dropping out of future derbies until it’s fixed.

Which is a bummer cause we’re a 4 member hood big enough for 9 horseshoes. I sure hope the thresholds are truly fixed for smaller hoods or next derby will be depressing especially if there are special prizes in last checkpoint that are unattainable all because the screen change has made HD completely unplayable for a valued hoodie.

HD I implore you to make repairing this issue your top priority, pretty, pretty, please.

I am in your same predicament, no screen dpi options, not even after unlocking the hidden debug feature.
I think i remember in the past we had those optional updates. Wondering why it is a problem now, with an apoarently trivial issue like this one?

Same here. Fine on mobile (apple) but not on tablet. (Android) hope it is fixed soon!

I realize that the Hay Day developers would one day stop supporting my tablet running Android version 4.4.2 as they already did for older versions of iOS. I went to Settings and the device shows that I have the latest update available. There's no option for me to change the DPI.

The huge screen size has accelerated my decision to buy a new Android device to play HD or not. Can my eyes adapt to the huge graphics popping out of the screen? It's like playing with a magnifying glass.

I play other Supercell and non-Supercell games and my visual experience hasn't been affected like HD.

First of all, welcome PaganHD to the Hay Day Bugs & Problems subforum.

Due to my limited Chinese, sadly, I don't understand the first four characters. But I'm able to read the remaining characters and per PaganHD, it's really really too huge, huge, huge, huge, huge.

Huge screen, game play is tedious now scrolling and scrolling and scrolling. My eyes adjusting to huge to small to huge to small makes me dizzy and gives me a headache. Unless you exit the shop when you are at a farm you do not even see if they need help. I've played the game for years first on a kobo and now on a kindle never had any problems now...nightmare. Just turn it back to the way it was.

Not to mention the harvested crops and xp-stars are so huge, popping up looking like they will pop out of the screen!

So nothing's going to be done about it then?

Very bad idea!!! Look at all 2018 mobile n upcoming mobile. All manufacturers company making big screen mobile. My mobile display also 6.3". Your huge screen game must be effect on farmer eyes & brain.

Anche a me dopo l'ultimo aggiornamento ho il gioco sul tablet come sul telefonino, tutto ingrandito, giornale con solo 4 inserzioni a pagina, bancarella tutta in riga, insomma un casino, ho contattato l'assistenza e mi dicevano sempre le stesse cose, controllare i caratteri, se ho scaricato da play storie originale, e dicevano che non dipendeva da loro, ho fatto notare che ci sono moltissimi giocatori con questo problema, e loro alla fine mi hanno chiuso la conversazione dicendo che non possono fare niente x il mio problema, proprio maleducati!!

They did that with the Town Hall screwup. This one, however, is more than just forcing people to triple the number of taps they have to do to get certain things done. They will lose players over this, but, as I said earlier, that is probably their goal anyway.

I wouldn't spend any more money on the game were I you. I am seeing signs of game shutdown in the near future if this kind of totalitarianism keeps up.

Where did you read the above? There are two posters who stated on this thread that they're using Android version 4.x.x on their tablets and they're seeing a huge display.

What confuses me is I think Supercell is still supporting older Android tablets because if they didn't, Nick would post an announcement, just like he did for the iPhone4 in June 2018 because it cannot be upgraded to iOS version 9.x or higher. Other Apple devices are still supported because users are able to upgrade to iOS 9.x or higher.

Hope you haven't spent too much money on the game. That is always the biggest danger in online games: You are at the mercy of the devs and the EULA are always written in such a way that the players have absolutely zero rights. Your only recourse, really, is to not spend a cent on their in-game shops and refuse to activate ads that will generate them revenue. That's life.

Supercell, could we please get an update on this issue? The game is still unplayable for members in my hood, particularly for trying to harvest honeybushes, etc. The size issues have cause derby opt outs as a result, so it's impacting our whole neighborhood.

I'm still having this Issue, reported it twice to the Support...nothing, very very sad of SC. No one can Play with a huge Screen....did they ever think about how the Players feel about that ? Obviously not ....no go
