What do you do when you have time to play but no builders?

The past 2 days i haven't done anything except a few single player goblin matches because all 4 of my builders are upgrading. What do you guys do? Do you continue attacking others and expect 1/3 of it gone when someone attacks you or do you just wait and let shield protect you every 12-16 hrs?

As of now, i have like 300k gold/900k exliar and no builders till tomorrow night. I been getting hit every time my shield runs out and get another 12-16 hr shield. I haven't attacked anyone during this process.

Nothing. My 4 builders are building now, and I'm sure as heck not buying another gem and never will. Amen to that.

I am def. not buying gems.

If i play single player, 1/3 of that loot will be given out to people that attack me anyways after my sheild runs out.

I stagger builders, so that one frees up every so often. I raid for a fe hours before one becomes free, at least until all the walls are upgraded.

Still grind and pray nobody steal. But 5th builder is almost always free.

I wait until I have 5 hrs left before my builder finish. In that time, I usually gain 100k-400k. My upgrade cost range between 360k-3M. I try to do upgrade when each one take a different days to finish. I don't have to wait too long for one upgrade to finish. Then I defend. If I get luckly, the raider one star me and I lose little resources. If not, I lose between 50K-200k depending on how much resources I have.
Due to recent update, upgrading is way slower than before. It took me 3 days to save 1.025M at 5 hrs per day with little resources being raided during defending. Anything higher than that, I have to play x hrs per day for x days, which I will not.
I like chatting with clan members than being Top 50 players. My clan is like a ghost town. We have 3-5 people playing at the same time now. Before 20-30 people would be on at the same time. As of now, I play 3-4 hrs when I can and try to save enough for the next update. I admit; it will be along process.

in what way shape or form is the 5th builder almost always free?? do you know something I dont?
I have 3 builders and will never be able to get even a fourth since they double the cost with each purchase. if they remained even 500gems as a max I would gladly spend the 5$ for another one but to spend $10 for one builder?? supercell is clearly drunk.

1 builder long upgrades, 1 builder medium upgrades, 1 builders short upgrades.
I have a builder available at least once a day. But I'm TH Lvl 7, and i guess starting in about 2 weeks time, there won't be anything to upgrade that doesn't take at least 4 days! But then again, it will take me that long to save up the gold/elixir to pay from them!

I attack until my storages are full. What's a 200k loss when you have 4 millions? You can make that in minutes. That way when the next builder is free I send him straight to the next update. Keeping a builder free all the time is a complete waste.

I don't stop raiding until my storages are full or I get bored. I rarely get any loot taken either. I leave my TH outside the walls and 8 out of ten times I just get a free shield from some trophy hunter. My base is strong and most serious attacks get 1 or 2 storages max anyways. I also keep all 5 builders busy and when one frees up I upgrade walls and then put him back to work.

Okay bud, a little late. Back in the days walls could be upgraded without a builder, and there was not really the same game as now. This thread isn't helpful anymore.

Another one who tries hard to make sure the builders and the lab stay staggered! Then keep on raiding for as long as possible... build up resources and enjoy the 12 hour shields. I try to make sure the elixir reserves stay really high to be able to donate to the clan during the shield time. :D

And of course browse through forum posts to find out what everyone else does during these times! ;)

I am TH 7 and I raid till my storages are full and beyond. As someone has pointed out alread, 200k loss is nothing, when you have 4M. And farmin at TH 7 is really easy and fast, I can get it all back in matter of minuts.

TH8 here with 5 builders.

I keep attacking. When my elix storages (6mill) fill up I start making dragon squadrons. When a builder frees up I'll clean some trees/trunks, do some wall pieces and start another building update.

I do this:

Once I have a free builder, I chose what building I want to upgrade, look at how much gold I have, spend it on walls while leaving enough for that building. Then I usualy have 100k gold left, and in those days I raid like a little ♥♥♥♥♥, LOL

aside from farming, i try to as much to accomplish the achievements to gain gems. like try to destroy walls for buster or mortars for mortar mauler

fill up as if u have 1 mill and they take 1/3 u will have 667k left but if u have 3 mil and they take 1/3 u still have 2 mil left.
(i never had anyone steal 1/3 my loot only 20%)

Save up for next upgrade, attack for the fun of it, I have one to four upgrades completed every day pretty much since I'm th7 so saving up isnt a bad idea. I get the bulk of for example a 1,000,000 gold upgrade like 600k then start raiding again an hour or two before the upgrade finishes and get as much as possible so I can spend excess gold on walls or saving up for my next upgrade depending how far away it is. Or I just go over the top for example a 1 mil upgrade I get 1.2mil, expect someone to loot me and give a shield and depending if they succeeded and looted or three starred or only got the outside TH and 39% I might get the gold or elixir remaining for the upgrade if the raid meant i have too little.
