Obstacle spawn rate as a function of available space

I was afraid for something like this, thanks for sharing. Not sure now whether I should sacrifice 10-20 of my spruces to increase the likelihood of me getting... Specific sought-after vegetation. It's a bit lame if it really works the way you've described, but my botanic observations are very similar to yours, so it's quite possibly the way you describe.

Got no idea how the system works, just an assumption based on observation :)

I tried to get a tree grow in one corner :( so many gems wasted...

This is a very interesting thread. I have also encountered this same problem. I used to treasure having my garden blooming around the edge of my base, but I also found that the trees seemed to spawn less and less. But now more than ever. I have recently cleared a lot of my vegetation to help... A certain specific decoration... to spawn, but I still only find 2 decorations spawning within the 24 hours. I don't know the mechanics of how this decoration spawns, all I know is that I am not the only one with this problem.

I am online a lot, and maybe this does effect it..

Aye Harris, would be interesting to hear a validated and official explanation, but those are quite rare - I doubt that mods have any insight into this issue either. It is interesting to hear input from others on this topic - it's no gamebreaker, as previously stated, but nevertheless an interesting topic. Keep observing, and let's see if some more official info pops up :) Never know, it's the season of wonders, after all!

My base has roughly 30 broccoli trees, three of last years x-mas trees and one pine. As a TH9 taking up the majority of the map and with my 3x3 forest, I'm lucky to see a single spawn every other day on average. When I do see a spawn, it's never another 3x3, and rarely a 2x2, leaving the single space spawns for me to clear. There are times when I may get two or three in a 24 hour period, but more often than not, I'll be waiting a while.

Through my experiences, and seeing mostly single space spawns, I'd say that it's a space available system.

So does this mean that it's a combination of my theory when the counter resets if you are active during the time of spawn and OJM's theory that it doesn't grow if it can't find room?

I'd say yes. If a 2x2 tries to spawn and 1/4, or more, of the space it's trying to occupy is already taken, that spawn is wasted and another one will have a chance in eight hours.

As far as being active during the time of a spawn, I've never seen one appear while I was logged on, though I have logged off, logged right back in and have had a new bush, trunk, etc.. I don't know if that was good timing or if the spawn was there, waiting for me to log out.

I'm not a firm believer of the activity-based theory, as I have seen (plenty of) spawns appear inbetween two raids or while working in my barracks, but I can't discredit the theory any furernthan that. I also got an additional spruce just now, landing me on 23 spruces and one trunk (to be removed). Although the temporarily available metallo-organic flora is not very beautiful, I hope to get one before the festive patch comes to an end, it seems it will take a bit of luck.
