Obstacle spawn rate as a function of available space
Hi!
First and furthermost, this is NOT about Christmas trees, so keep them out of the discussion, please. It doesn't have to do anything with gamebreaking game mechanics either, in fact, it's not even related to anything that will help you get better loot or win more defences. It's about something which nevertheless is a part of your base, every day, presumably every 8 hours - it's about Obstacles.
Now, I like my Clash garden to be aestethically pleasing, which for me means a nice forest of small (spruce type) trees around the perimeter of my base, at the very outskirts of the map square. I have taken necessary actions with building placement: I have placed any buildings one square away from the map edges (due to the one square pushback), and filled out empty spaces with decorations as needed - these I have placed right next to the border, and interspaced them one square from each other. This limits the spawn areas to the couple of squares outside the map border.
My problem, however, is that it seems I only get one or two obstacle spawns every 24 hours, despite the stated one per 8 hours (http://clashofclans.wikia.com/wiki/Obstacles). I didn't find any info on this on the wiki, so I was wondering if anyone else has the same problem? Note that there is still plenty of space for 2x2 obstacles on my map perimeter, and I am not anywhere near the 40 obstacle cap. Because from my observations it seems that obstacle spawn rate becomes more limited as the total available space decreases, rather than spawning once every 8 hours for as long as there is still space and the cap is not met. Some of the lull in daily spawns can surely be explained by the possible spawn being "wasted" on a 3x3 tree which tries, but fails, to spawn - although these only have an added respawn weight of 10%.
So, anyone with some personal experience, input, or comments? Patience is not an issue of mine, I am just trying to get a clear understanding of the spawn mechanics. Thanks for reading, and thanks in advance for any (non-Xmas) input!
