I like the discussion and enjoy it more than the fact described in the thread. Honestly, it took me less than one hour to figure out the new loot system and put it into code and visualized it. but I did spend more than two hours pondering what to say after I had those graphs. and here is another update, I just 2 starred a TH with 2 million gold and got 270K out of it. Not bad at all as my major looting bases are those TH8 with good storages, no matter whether they are maxed or not, not even one base can survive my troop.

Almost maxed TH7 here, Raiding at trophy level 1500, I've been raiding with 10 Drags and rage for the past few days costing 300000 - 390000, but have been regularly finding bases with 300000 to 500000 in Goo and Gold. since this update I cant find anything with much over 60000 to 80000. I'll give it a few more days just in-case its the timing of my searches. but if it remains this way, I'm putting my collectors and stores in a corner and quitting. :D

This update sucks big time.. I am TH7 and really making an effort to make my base as efficiënt as possible. Now I have to deal with lvl 5/6 troops when I have full storages waiting for the next upgrade to finish so I can buy a new set of lvl 7 walls. I like to think I have a strong base, but against lvl six troops? Takes the fun out of the game for me, it doesn't make a difference any more if my base is effective. Only option to avoid lvl 6 troops is not saving up. Pfff

There is no new loot coming into the system but rather new loot leaving the system
Think about it
New bomb and trap upgrades are now worth the extra cost (gold) to protect losing larger amounts of gold, this extra gold has not be added since last update
Furthermore
Now most players will use more Elixa to build heavier armies to crack the heavier defended stores..

SC did mention people going higher for better loot... This is only partly true because..
Some players will have problems attacking and upgrading elixa upgrade items in an environment that has already starting to see reductions in elixa due to the spell switch. This will force some players to move down to roll th8s and make more elixa profit per hour than searching and attacking higher trophy and townhall players..

Sorry to the th8/9s but th10s for months have had really poor loot and they had a great run but its now over..

I have a TownHall 10, and got looted for about 1mil total today. About 200k loss
per defense. My raids today didn't cover the losses even close.

My gold storages are half full at 400k. Saving for Archer Tower 11, which costs 5mil.

Precisely. The process for months and months has rolled on where we are paying more and more and not a drop of new loot is put into the system.

The new system it attempting to cover that up by simply moving the shortage from one player to another. Professional farmers will be drawing more gold out and dumping it on walls while everyone else suffers. Wow, genius idea...

Only certain players benefit, while others are much worse off.

This update does absolutely nothing to address the gold shortage the game has.

The new system is basically "robbing peter to pay paul". Here are some points that I observed.

1) There is no new gold added into the system.

2) Just that the quantity of gold moving between players get bigger, making the loot system suddenly appear to be fixed. Suddenly everyone seems to find huge loot every now and then. Yay, loot system is fixed:rolleyes:

3) The number of bases with low loot(less than 100k) remains the same. In fact, their loot now become even lower due to the lower %

4) Those small numbers of bases with half filled or full stores now offered more loot to be raided.

5) The ratio of low loot and high loot bases did not change at all. Just that the amount offered changed. The low loot now offers lower loot while the high loot offers higher loot.

6) Because of the high loot now offer higher loot, it make it worthwhile to try raiding them instead of the usual pressing of next and hoping for an inactive to pop up.

7) Because the difference of loot is only 50k between each TH level. A TH9 will rather raid a full TH8 than his same level TH9 comrades. A TH10 will rather raid a full TH9 than his same level TH10 comrades. Its much easier to raid 1 TH lower as you have much higher chance to get more storage, effectively negate the 50k and 10% penalty difference

8) The active players will rejoice as now they can get more per raid. The casual players will now be at a worse position as they lose more per defense.

Simple explanation is without the fancy graphs and other junk. Old system u got 150 k if storage a held 1 million that's 15%.
New system you get 400k for 8 million in storages which translates to 100k per 2 million in storage which ultimately translates to 5%. So old system you get 15% from storage a new system you only get 5% simple. We are losing!!!!!

Nice summary! It benefits not the higher level player, but truly those active players. Since active players are often higher TH levels, the casual players complain the good goes to "high TH level bases".

Welcome to the forum! Make sure you understand the old system as well as the new system. The concepts will benefit you from getting better vision of where the loot is.

I think Barching and BAMing will continue to be the best farming strategies.

So you are saying I am wrong? Explain why? What am I missing here. Are you trying to say that I am unskilled? I mean I am just posting my thoughts on the new system if I am wrong about it them please clarify. I mean I did learn how to divide in school 400 k is 5 percent of 8 million am I right ? How many bases have 8 million in their storages? Why do they compare 1million in the old system to 8 million in the new system? Shouldn't it be 1 million to 1 million or 8 to 8? what will be the best trophy range for th7? for collector raids as well as storage becauase right now I cant find any storage or collector raids lol.

This update is rubbish so far, the effect is to ensure that people will reduce significantly the amount of loot they hold.

This then means almost no players have full storages and people who previously would have showed as decent loot are now not worth raiding due to the % reduction.

The fact that it is so hard to find any targets with enough loot in stores to get anywhere near the cap also further encourages keeping storages low. Previously I would be happy sitting on maxed stores knowing that I could only lose 200K or so which I could easily get back.

Now I can lose 400K but cannot find anything over 150K in half an hour searching, will I throw it all into walls or upgrades to get down near 1M in stores before logging off? Of course, and even more so for players with less upgraded bases.

Hoping this will get better soon but not optimistic. I can't believe this is all there is in the update, where is the extra mine levels that could actually make a difference? No lets just make the inferno ridiculously OP, not impressed.

I've actually spent 200k in gold looking until I finally gave up and started to just raid whatever I could get 10k 5 k whatever this is crazy what was wrong with the old system? I don't get it it kept me coming back there was enough loot to keep me coming back and I would still buy gems every now and then to support them now it seems impossible to even gain I've been hovering around 2 million gold and elix all day and can't get any further since I gave up I actually lost 500k elixir not being able to find loot this is crazy actually thinking about quitting the game now :(

Before the update, i found always 150-250k.
now, at best i find 150k, mostly 80-100k

A realy rubbish update....

Rubbish seems to be the consensus. Everybody can see that not enough gold is being pumped in and less % is available from most players who aren't keeping their storages filled (which is the majority of casual players, and the majority of the resources the farmers raid).

Then we have the 1 or 2 who found a 500k raid once and think that loot's the greatest thing since turkey.

I don't so much mind the loot changes, however the changes to the inferno towers are a bit ridiculous. Number one they did not need a level 3 as they were already pretty powerful and number two the new multi target mode is totally not needed. Yes I have towers yes I like them but still way over powered. As for the loot if people are going to quit, why not allow us to raid their bases for large scores? I still raid fully functioning bases all the time but seeing an inactive account come up for huge loot was always a welcome great. I mean I am not raiding them for trophies so whats the point? I live this game and have been playing for over a year but if supercell keeps fixing it until it's broke then I will have to find another game to waste my down time on!

In 3/4 months I've nearly maxxed from start to th8. My base is strong but against lvl 6 troops I'm screwed. I tried to max then upgrade max th then upgrade but now. Hoping i can get 3 mill gold i will become one of the premature th jumpers. Seems to work in there favor now.

I've lost 800k gold & 1.6 million elixir today. I use negative elixir when raiding. I have all lvl 5 troops and haven't taken more than 100k ea today.

Seeing as a decent army cost 75k & 3 spells cost an average of 80k wth am I supposed to get that! The system is already so unbalanced between offense & defense no one in the game can 3 start a decent th10 even with all max troops.

Inferno tower upgrade?!!?? That needs to be down graded. You guys need to figure something out. You've made a game i cant lve without & lose sleep over into a game I dont want to play anymore.

Oh & btw it's the new players who rig in the money not the guys who've been here for a year. They will get bored & quit. Then what? The system was AMAZING already. Now you broke it!!

i hate the new system, i havent done more than one or two good attacks after the update. Before i could get lots of loot on just a few attacks but now its much harder.

I've observed a greater disparity between the number of bases with low loot and bases with high loot. There have been rarely any bases with average/mediocre loot e.g. 200k each. Instead, what I've noticed is that, a base will either offer less than 100k each, some even around the 10k mark, or will offer 300k and above. While it is still too early to reach a conclusion on how loot will be affected by the new system in the long run, I think we can all agree that in the short term, players will definitely be coming across bases that offer much higher loot compared to pre-update. However, this will also be accompanied by the presence of many bases with below average loot.

My initial thoughts: this new system would be fantastic for those focusing on upgrading walls. Greater available loot while farming to dump into walls, and at the same time, people can only raid you for a negligible amount due to storages being low-empty.

This update is the worst ever. I'll give it one week, maybe two, and if things don't improve than I will disband my clan and feeder clans and quit. Finding new and better game to play is all to easy.

...the next upgrade you'll see will be players leaving clash of clans for improved play somewhere else.

Influx of loot into the economy could be had if SC would just increase the amount taken from the TH when it is destroyed. Have it increasing based on TH level. Having to continually pay for hitting Next is draining the economy. Collectors and mines cannot keep up. If I raid a TH8 and defeat it, I should win 125K. a TH9 250K a TH10 500K.

Tons of gold leaving the system as people decide to throw it all into walls and wait rather than have it stolen by higher. I'm a lvl 80 and all my defenses are against 100+ in Gold II. And I can't find anything to get that loot back without raiding little guys for 80K a pop. This will drain elixir quickly.

I used to be on for hours raiding and filling stargazes (200-300 per raid) and no nothing. Just going to sit under my shield and find something else to do.

I think the opening information in this thread is about the best entries in this entire forum, so thanks a lot for that.

First of all I think the system just got quite a shove and it takes some time to settle in a new equilibrium. So I'm not so eager to draw any quick conclusions yet. However I think we can foresee an important change in how this game is played in line with some remarks here:

-1- right now many active players (=the ones with full storages, as most casual players do not have full storages to begin with) have figured out that it is not a good idea to sit on your resources, so many will have spent it on walls and other pending upgrades by now if they have a builder available. This means that right now (one day after the update) available loot will be lower than before, because of the lower loot-percentages and the mostly depleted storages. It will not stay this way, because in a few days storages will eventually start to fill up again (it may take a little longer when everybody keeps spending it on their walls, but the number of walls is limited so that will also not last forever). I suspect loot to become better in the days to come.
-2- After this settling period, the only way to save for bigger upgrades (let's say 5M and above) is to raid hard and in one stretch while you've got a builder ready to hit it as soon as you've got the amount you need. Higher lvls with better armies will probably be able to do so because of the higher loots, while premature townhalls and other lower level troops will have a hard time to reach the millions needed in one stretch. These players will have to log off once in a while and will be hitted hard by the higher level players. I suspect several players having lower level troops and defences but facing costly upgrades (like archer6) will get frustrated and drop out.
-3- Maxing TH9 and TH10 will then prove to be out of reach for the casual player; you either will have to play really hard or buy gems to break through the 'barrier'. When you are a nearly maxed TH9 or a TH10 right now you might possibly be sitting on the convenient side of the fence. I suspect most casual players will leave the game by the end of TH8 as it proves to be too hard to press on.

The remaining question is: is that a problem? It may be a strategic decision by SC to make TH9 and up only available to gemmers and people spending far too much time in this game (like many of the forum members here ;)). It makes it a kind of special, and only for the hard-core players. Furthermore I suppose a lot of people are dropping out at TH8 anyway because of the increased upgrade times involved and the resulting boredom. Actually I don't know the answer. I think I will wait, see and adapt before calling the update rubbish. But I completely agree it changed the battlefield significantly.

This is is great strategy for making STORAGE loot more available, so kudos to SC.

The inherent problem lies in the loss of the loot bonus you get from Mines, Pumps & Drills for the TH7 and 8 players.

Lets use a raid on a TH10 as an example, because I believe the victims of this update are the TH7/8 players.

Here is my thinking (as a TH8):

I would go out raiding, and I would find TH10's just coming off a 12 hour or 16 hour shield.

What that means is, the 7 mines(lvl 11), 7 pumps(lvl 11) and 3 dark drills(lvl 6) have been working the whole time.

The production would be

Max lvl Resource	12 hour shield	16 hour shield
7 gold mines	252000	336000
7 elixir pumps	252000	336000
3 dark elixir drills	3600	4800

The attacker would be allowed to raid half this amount (-50%).

But you would get that back with the OLD LOOT BONUS (+50%) for TH7/8 attacking a TH10.

Under the new system the collector raid potential for TH10 coming off a shield is:

Max lvl Resource	12 hour shield	16 hour shield
7 gold mines	126000	168000
7 elixir pumps	126000	168000
3 dark elixir drills	1800	2400

This is a big revenue loss for the lower town halls!

Also, another item about raiding:

So, under the old system, when you saw raid with amounts in excess of the old storage raid limit (198k) you knew the rest was in the M/P/D's.

What I find is that now is that if I see 168000 gold available, I have no idea where 168000 gold might be!

A TH10 with four max storage's that look like this:

Could easily be hiding 169k in available gold in the storage and the mines are empty when you raid.

Just my opinion about TH8 perspective.

This should come as no surprise to anyone but Supercell is not a non-profit! These changes are designed to force folks to buy gems to get upgrades faster because now it will be harder to save up since raids will take more from the rich...I guess Supercell designers are democrats!.....LOL

To start, i love your post, well done on it. I like the whole idea of it, but it does prove, that gaining loot, is going to be harder as a whole, and being raided by people above you is going to be a lot more brutal, especially when you are going for the more expensive raids. (Here i state raids, i mean upgrades sorry)

Changes Explained.

As most can tell right away, i have upped the figures, then capped them. With these figures, using the old system, we can revert to the old system, and buff the bas figure from 200k/1m max, to 300k. Why? Most people, especially the ones at higher levels, would like a chance to earn more than 200k, and i respect that. That being said, why cant we give everyone that chance? I have upped the base loot to 300k as long as those who you attack at the same level TH as the defender. Once you attack someone that is LOWER TH than yourself, you immediately lose 50%. This does sound kind of harsh, and it is. But is still an improvement to what this amount was previously. 20k to be precise, hey, at least it will pay for that spell you have used. After 2 TH level differences, it is much the same as it was previously, after all who wants to be facerolled by someone 2 TH's higher, and looting just as much as others!

Another thing that is plain from the get go, is i have capped off the amount of loot. Why, i really dont know, 300k is decent loot without taking into account collectors. If someone actually was a lower TH and wanted to attack someone that was higher level than themselves, surely 300k loot would be good enough, it is still a buff from the 220k they would have recieved previously. And also, this is just as an example. If it were to go ahead, it could be changed.

Thanks those who do read this, and i hope you guys give a lot of voice to this. Please do, it will give those who want more resources at higher levels what they want, and also those who are lower TH levels to get some pride back, knowing we can TRULY save more and gain gold faster with a 300k limit instead of 200k.

This is 100% accurate, my storage are 75% full but I can't find loot so I keep riding out my shields because there is way more to lose than to gain.

Only if you are an active player who can raid at long stretches.
Casual players (like me - full disclosure), who currently can only afford to raid-logoff-raid-logoff, may end up playing less & riding more shields.

So, if you can't raid the collectors of people who are online,
and you can't raid the people who ride their shields,
who are you going to raid then?

The problem here is clearly that the system is designed towards high storage amounts. But that is not the case because people spend their loot as much as possible, and then sit in Shield when they need to gain more. So most people actually are sitting in the 0-2M storage, where the amount of loot is much, much lower.

That wouldn't be a big deal if it didn't cost well more than 100k to muster a good attack against someone of a similar TH level. At my level, it is 20 Giants x 2000 Elixir = 40k E, 6 bombs x 2500 E = 15k E, 2 Healer x 6000 E = 12k E, (1-2 Dragons potentially, at 20-40k E), plus extras amounting to another 10k E. Add on three spells which is 60-70k E. You can very easily see that spending 100-150k E is easy, and it is necessary to break through defenses because of the horrible, horrible pathing system ("Oh look, that is the closest thing to me and I am getting healed if I follow the rest of my group towards that thing but NOOOOOO, I want to go get killed over THERE.").

So if someone has 1M resources stored, then 150k resources are available. That is blown in the attack. On top of that, those resources are split between gold + elixir. So while my gold may go up, I am at a net loss of elixir. That means that the best way to gain elixir is to f*ing sit on my butt and let my pumps generate it. No way am I going to do that.

If the goal of this game is to have fun attacking people (and the time taken to upgrade things is certainly enough to slow the game down so that people have fun attacking), then Supercell needs to STOP making resources so damn hard to get. Make pumps produce significantly more. Make the Goblin Raids (PvE) doable once per day for half the original resources. Do something where people can get the resources that they need to fight against other people without significantly worrying about their own losses.

That is what makes the game fun. Not f*ing grinding for resources.

The way I see it, the principle of the new loot system was great where you can steal more from players who have more, however the ironic complication in this system is that those who have the amounts of loot where the new update comes into play as expressed in the graphs, are also the players who are most active - and therefore are less likely to be attacked. Then you have those with high amounts of loot riding a shield. And then there is the majority of players who are fairly inactive/regularly active who do not have the time to raid enough loot together-, nor do they possess enough loot at a given moment for others to be attractive enough to raid. Effectively slowing down the total exchange in resources.

The loot cap being high is ok. The problem is the ridiculously low %.

It was fun while it lasted im quitting!! just started th 9 had 2 mill plus elixir yesterday before update today I have 1.3 mill and I'm active.. Will check in in a few months to see what's going on hopefully someone will run into my base and get some loot bye coc. Ima miss it.

Idk guys but I cant even gain what I need now cause of the change....im a fairly new TH 7 and im trying to get my dark barracks....its impossible now cause what I spend on troops is what I earn now....sometimes I use all my troops to get only 50k of each....to when I was getting almost over 300K of both before the update.

I run into some that have 400K total but they are TH 9 or a almost maxed TH 8


Im a farmer and this makes me want to max my pumps and gold mines and sit on shields and just let the pumps and mines do the work....that means im not gonna play as much

OK, I certainly understand the issue that's trying to be addressed and it "seems" to make sense, but in reality it's made things a lot harder for me since the update.

I'm a TH8 with mostly LVL 5 troops and I've been consistently farming between 500k - 1M gold per hour and slightly less elixir hitting the 1100-1300 trophy range. It would typically take me a 5-10 bases before I would find one that's relatively easy to hit with 200k+ available Gold/Elixir.
Since the upgrade I have yet to see a base over 200k of either resource and it usually takes me a good 20-30 bases to even find one with 100k of one resource.
The whole reason I'm on the forum now is because I just spent 20 minutes cycling through bases and almost ever one of them had between 10-20k of resources and rarely I'd find one with 50k. My army alone which consists of 12 Giants, 2 healers, 6 breakers, 40 archers, 40 Gobs, and 20 Barbs costs me about 77k of elixir. I have gone from 1.5M elixir yesterday morning down to about 400k of elixir. I am going backwards and there's almost nothing I can do. The only bases that have more than 100k of resources require my full army to defeat on the rare occasion I do find one.

I'm not sure if its the loot bonus nerf effecting collectors/mines or what, but the reality of this upgrade is I'm pretty much stuck in the mud and have no ability to gain resources. I'm going to try and trophy up to see if I'm just in a bad range now with the upgrades.

That's pretty much exactly what I'm seeing. I am going backwards on elixir and barely making 50k of gold per raid. So I went from 500k-1M gold per hour with ~500k of new elixir to 150k of Gold per hour and a negative 100k of elixir (or more).
Umm, how exactly is this a good thing?

lol, I was actually wondering this in the back of my mind. Hmm

Make it easy to level up to TH6 and now that we've got you addicted we are going to grind your progression to a halt to force you into buying gems.

I want to say it took me a week or so to grind out the Gold to upgrade all my walls to LVL 7 and have a single wall upgraded to LVL 8. I was fairly easily able to farm anywhere from 500k to 1M Gold per hour prior to the upgrade.
So, in order to upgrade my 224 LVL 7 walls at 500k of gold a pop I will need to farm 112M gold. So, if I don't want to buy gems I will have to farm for 560 continuous hours or 23 days straight at 24 hours. It could seriously take me a year to upgrade my LVL 8 walls if things don't change. /facepalm

112 mil gold at 1M per hour is 5 days straight. You can even take a short sleep here and there.

I agree, under the old loot system I could have done that. However, under the new one I've yet to clear 200k in an hour. :(

I'm playing this game 4 weeks but with this change i' m thimking to stop playing it was fun looting and progression but now? Looting we can say half maybe less spend 50k to find someone worth it ? Worst update i have seen past year on some game realy, maybe supercell will make money but loos players beggining of the end like other facebook games and companies.

Loot is much lower and there is much more opponents with low loot everyone noticed it after few minutes without knowing what exactlyupdate did now all we know , new players will never can get where older players are it will take much more time thinking about strong walls you can nearly forget. I have the same issue and agree. I'm at TH lvl 8 and have only lost elixer since the update yesterday. Today I had $1.5 million in storage, was raided by a TH lvl 9, and he had 190k available, or 12.5% to take, and got most of it. I checked his village out prior to getting revenge, and he had 4.4 million elixer in his storage tanks, but only 357k, or 8% was available to me. So the cap coupled with the lack of a bonus for "raiding up" puts us TH lvl eights at a major disadvantage.

Thumbs down big time on this update.

Don't worry though, it's not just you. I can lose like 200k when people get to just two of my four storages.

After playing for a year I'm just about to break level 100. My TH9 base is almost maxed out and I am considering jumping to TH10. After reading the update description, with more power to Infernos, I think it is necessary to finally grab a few million gold and make the jump! Everything sounds good... And then I go to farm... And click next... And click next... And click next... After spending 70,000 gold clicking next in gold league 1, I realize supercell has done something very cruel to us for the holidays. Finding a 200k gold hit is almost impossible. 100k hits are about as good as it gets now. And if I upgrade TH, I have all those high level defense upgrades to start on... And they are going to take so long that I am going to lose interest in this game. I am so bummed out. Was gonna buy a few gems for Christmas, but now I will wait until farming gets better instead of worse. I hope everyone else does the same. I seldom lose any resources because I run a farming base, so every hit is on my TH outside the walls for a couple thousand of each, so no issue losing res. The issue is farming twice as many times for half the goodies.

It might just be time to turn Clan Leader over to one of my best elders.

Sure wish the update would have added Vice Leader and a few High Elder positions in clan.

Seriously considering throwing in the towel.

You see his army? If you can get that loot with THAT army....you sir are a god at the game.....

I wouldn't train such an army in the first place. With normal TH 8 army it's perfectly doable to take 2 out of 3 gold storages and DE.

Here's the biggest problem with the new system:

Attacker/defender TH level	7	8	9	10
7	250	300	350	400
8	225	300	350	400
9	125	270	350	400
10	62.5	150	315	400

Notice the incentive for TH9 attacker to raid TH8 defenders. TH9 attackers get 116% more loot from TH8 defenders, compared to TH7 defenders. When evaluating whether to attack the TH9 or TH8 defender, the difference the TH9 attacker sees is only 29%. It's an even smaller increase for attacking TH10.

So why would a TH9 attacker attack anything other than a TH8 player? TH8 defenders offer the easiest targets for the fastest loot for TH9 attackers.

On the other hand, the TH8 attacker gets nowhere near the % jump in loot from lower level players, and instead only sees a 50k increase per level.

From my perspective, it seems like TH8 players are the ones who are really getting hurt in this new loot system.

I think a better fix to all of this would be to increase the league victory rewards. The current bonus for the gold league is so small that it is negligible, yet this is where a majority of TH7 and TH8 players seem to hang out. The bonus should at least address the difference in loot offered to higher level attackers which is:

TH9 v TH8 = 270k
TH8 v TH7 = 250k

Then the primary league reward for TH8 players should be at least 20k or higher to address the loot lost to getting raided by higher level TH players.

This solution is also more in the spirit of the game, which encourages attacking.

Finally, it might be incumbent upon Supercell to consider evaluating the cost of upgrades. When the cost of a single attack is greater than the loot you gain and risk (to a subsequent attack), the relative price of upgrades climbs drastically. Thus. reducing the price of these upgrades would help to balance the loot system.

I read an article a few days ago that said Supercell is bringing in a million dollars a day on Clans and some farm game they run. So I guess a million a day ins't enough, so they tweak the loot payout and try to squeeze their customers for more cash. Three of us in my family play this game, and spend a little here and there. That's about to go to zero playing and zero spending. Supercell needs to correct this latest "tweak" and make things right.

It should also be noted that to get that loot the storages have to be pretty full and most townhall 7s aren't going to be holding as much loot at one time because their upgrades aren't as much.

Yeah, the new loot system is basically based on the belief that everyone maxes out and fills up their storages, which really isn't true. Most people are not saving up for huge upgrades and holding 5 mil of each.

I was just attacked by a TH lvl 9 village with 23 lvl 6 Giants, and he was going after 190k elixer and even less gold. It's the best he could do, which is pretty sad. I'm TH lvl 8, and haven't enjoyed a profitable raid since the update. Supercell needs to make things right, and undo the Christmas update. Oh yeah, the Santa Claus air strike is ineffective if it's three seconds late. Another FAIL by Supercell.

Great work with the comparison and all but don't you think that all your calculations are based on your assumption that every storage, mine and collector is full and we can raid the maximum amount? To be honest it's not easy to find bases that has available loot of more than 150k now for town hall 9 and above. This is experience coming from me. I've spent more than 50k finding a suitable base and I can't even find a damn one. Don't say I'm unlucky or what because I'm very active and after the new update, I definitely find it harder to find bases to raid.

With the new loot system At my lvl of TH it is impossible because my ROI SUCKS big SOCKS. I need at least 50-100k gold to find decent base to raid, before I needed 10-20 at max and I did not need to use ALL my army and flasks. So bases I find today is with 190k of each at MAX, considering my cost of searching, earnings from gold you can half and considering my army build, earning of elixir is even less. And the time it takes to find things is much longer than before.


Conclusion: It is hard, and time/gold/elixir consuming for that TH lvl range to grow to higher lvl because ppl at that range do not save that amounts of gold in storages, and if they do it is few of them. So I really can not see how the new loot system can benefit middle TH levels. ROI is terrible, not even 2:1 so attacking is no point sometimes.


I was prepared for hard working and time consuming farming at higher levels because it is what end game is for, it is not easy to get best, but it is easy to be mid range.


There is also one other question I want to take up, and that is Why did this change come? They say so the loot can flow easily between players? I have not seen any TH9 and 10 complain about this, why? They have no reason, they have that amount in storages, they need it for upgrades so they see no changes, it is always between 200-400 loot when they raid (statement, have not experience it my self).


It would be nice to see some more replays from TH9 and 10, what experience do they have with the change?


SC also tells us that they are watching the change to see how it will flow and work out and ADJUST (not change) the system.


Looking at the bigger picture, SC recently sold 51% of the company and gave away all the decision to the buyer! they have possibility to say things but as a mayor stock holder u have the last word and big companies only care about ROI like I do in my raiding. The way I see it and I'm just thinking, no hard numbers, They want most money out of the investment and return back as much as possible of investment of 1,5 billion dollars, and how do they do that? Yes one way is to make players spend more Real money, and how do they do It? Yes by make players buy more crystals!! So might this be a way to tell us "buy more crystals, we need to end our FYI with sky numbers and increase value of our company" I do not know, maybe they are telling us that. What I know is they have full right to do so they are company and they need to earn money they have full right of it!!

I hope this changes for better and I hope playing experience will be as fun as before, I'll stick around and wait, but not to long, sorry but that is the way we consumers think 2.

Excellent analogy of the issue, that's what I feel supercell is doing too. They are concentrating too much on their profits and are forgetting that we, the consumers are the ones that made it possible for them to even exist. I'll bet that many players will quit the game if this goes on. They are forgetting that their real assets are the players.

Just what I tried to explain in my long post. They thing all the time at full storages that are minimum at mid range TH. No one made calculations on bases they are today. I would like SC to give average numbers of all TH lvls with how much they have in storages to deifieduandi and than make him make same calculations and show the reality.

Here is one thing that might compare it to what SC is doing now:

I have 1000 apples and if I sell ALL apples in 1 minute I will earn 1000 dollars. But the reality is that I can maybe sell only 1 apple and 999 is not the case. Maybe a bit extreme to compare it like this but I ope you get my point. Take REAL numbers and to the same calculations as deifieduandi!!

before the update I was at 5.5 mil gold and 5.5 mil elixir....

since the update I constantly get raided and during raids cannot find anything good to raid or get anything worthy... I have not bought anything and now since the update my gold is at 4.35 million right now and elixir is 2.81 million. I have lost Massive amounts of both.

overnight I got raided three times losing over 800k gold and over 600k elixir.

and when I raid I cannot make up enough of what I lose..... I cant do this no more!!!

I am considered as a casual player. I log on 20 times per day. I probably spend 2-3 hours per day playing. Every time I log off, I lose more resources than I gained during my raid. Impossible to gain loot unless i never log off.

So, the message to me as a "casual" player is clear, log on once once or twice per day and ride out the shield.

They have no reason, they have that amount in storages, they need it for upgrades so they see no changes, it is always between 200-400 loot when they raid (statement, have not experience it my self).


It would be nice to see some more replays from TH9 and 10, what experience do they have with the change?

I am Th9 and I don't like this change.

The loot has dropped significantly for the bases that I raid. They are still out there but you have to search much longer and the bases with any decent loot are super heavily fortified. I can easily spend 50k searching for a base with around 50% less loot in comparison to before the change...

I'll be updating new raids (after the update) soon. Suffice to say, there is a lot less loot around. Most bases are 5-80k in the 1800ish range I am currently at.

All the weaker TH 8 and 9 bases will be farmed after this update.

The loot bonus for attacking a high TH (i.e. 9 or 10 in this case) has been removed so there is no incentive to attack a higher level base for no extra reward.. no risk vs reward

The consequence will be exactly what SC didn't want. It will be much harder to save...

THE BIG PROBLEM IS:
that now all the gold generated comes from mines, collectors and the league bonus
All the extra loot that came from raiding higher THs is gone, and thats a lot of loot that the current mines and collectors cant generate
as time passes its going to be really obvious, because there will be almost none with loot to grab.
Its like been a salesman that gets paid a fix salary plus his sales commission and starting this patch the boss says, you are no longer going to get a commission, you may ask the costumer to pay more money for it, but you'll get no commission only the extra you can squeeze out of the customer (thats silly in normal life its the other way around the customer normally tries to get that extra form the sale)

Think about it, this is at every level, for example

A TH 6 raiding an inactive level 8 could get a lot of extra gold, that in turn could help a TH7 get more loot when attacking that previous TH6 and so forth, that made the economy roll and stay afloat

lets put this in to every day economics
everyone likes to get a bonus when they buy something, if you buy a tv and you get 50% of the price paid in coupons to buy more things you are really happy, because more "money" went back to your pocket, and you spender it on a a bluray and sound system. thats part of the old system

On the new system
yo get to work more and earn more money by putting more time in to the game, but that money comes from what your neighbor owns, and if your neighbor gets sick of that he may stop making money and you get screwed theres no more money buy the tv. The TV is going to cost the same, but you won't have the extra for the bluray and the spun system
and to make matters worse before yo had an insurance that no matter if you got robbed, all that could get robbed from you was 200,000 now when you are saving for that BIG Smart TV (in this case a big upgrade) you get robbed a lot more, and if you don't stay really active, you end up with no tv at all

I'm a pretty new TH 8, and my defenses thus far reflect that. I have been raided twice since the new system took effect. It's bull♥♥♥♥. Both raids were by TH 9s, both raids I had about 1.5 million gold and about 3.5 million elixir and in both raids they got 270k gold and 300k elixir. There is no way I can raid and save at a rate faster than these high level players are taking it. I wasn't even close to being maxed on gold so there is no reason for me to lose damn near the max available amount, especially to higher THs. You know it's a ♥♥♥♥ty, broken system when it makes more sense for me to upgrade my TH early to get a couple of xbows to help defend. I'll still be able to make a ton of money, apparently, from TH 8s. Or I can just dump my gold and retire for a bit. Both options are ridiculous.

You are mistaken.

There was no extra loot in the economy from the higher TH "bonus". That loot was lost by the higher TH.

The REAL loss of loot to the economy is going to come from all the additional fruitless "next" searches we all have to do. It removes a tonne of gold from the economy.

Maybe they will give us a week of 1gem boosts during christmas week. That would put a ton of loot into the economy. The new loot system is awesome but with us making more we are spending more because we are getting it much faster, or I have anyways. I just hope that supercell doesn't wait too long for the stimulus package because i love this new loot system and would hate for them to change it thinking that the system is the problem

To be honest, I was surprised, and disappointed, that they did not give a 1 gem boost in the update for the period up to new year. It would have been a nice xmas gift.

It's not too late SC, please do that now. The economy desperately needs an injection of loot.

Remember that as we all level up, we all sink a tonne of loot into expensive upgrades. This loot is lost from the economy.

Collectors have remained at the same level since TH8, with only 1 extra of each being added since the game originally came out. But upgrade prices have rocketed with new defences and 2 new THs.

yes i was to but then i saw the update promo again with a picture of an inferno tower with a townhall level 9, then it stuck me, hey you could monetize this update by giving th8 1x xbow and th9 1x inferno (v1 or 2 only) and the punters would be singing SC praise for coming to there rescue, while they SC, would be laughing all the way to SoftBank.. Pardon the pun..
Not saying this will happen but it wouldn't surprise me as its a pretty vanilla freemium practice.

Never going to happen, as that would totally imbalance the game. Want the Xbows, go TH9. Want Inferno, go TH10.

The same will be true for the next big defence, at TH11.

And remember, TH10 suffers from a huge loot penalty. The pay off for that are the extra toys.

I am a farmer from the midwest, and this update totally destroys the ability to farm! When I inquired about this in our clan today, everyone that was on, agrees that nobody is seeing any abandoned bases anymore. WHat Happened? How do you go from seeing an abandoned base in about 1 out of 20 bases, to none at all? I dont get this. The fabric of the game has totally been changed. It doesnt even make sense any more.. everything that was normal is now NOT normal. The rules of farming have changed forever. I dont get this... my name is SWIM_DAD and I have now spent all my Gold, and will sit under the guise of a shield, and wait til I get enough money to upgrade all my walls. I dont like this anymore... I can only hope to play the game like this until January when the next update comes out... THIS WAS A BAD IDEA!

The reason you don't see any abandoned bases is because of the new update. Usually after a new update all the inactives come back to check it out and collect their resources. It should be back to normal in a little while, but the new loot system will probably make it so it will be way different then before

I'm a TH8 player. Before the update I had almost maxed out my gold and elixir storages, which I need for the expensive upgrades of tesla, archer towers, and the upgrades in laboratory. In the past 2 days from the update, I am completely ripped off. The moment I log out I get attacked from TH9 and loose 250k+ from gold and elixir, plus the 1500+ dark elixir. Even after the continuous ripping off, I have 2,5 mil gold and elixir, but still loose 250+ from every attack. There is no way I can maintain my resources to be able to make the necessary upgrades.

Probably in the next couple days I will completely stop the upgrades and logging in the game, and wait until I can have a full free day in which I will try to collect gold or elixir for even one upgrade. I have paid for this extra worker, and now I cannot get even the other workers to make any upgrades. Of course the golem and valkyries upgrades, seems like a big joke for a th8.

Even though my walls are maxed out and my weapons are almost maxed out except 2 teslas (lvl5) and 3 archer towers, I have a pretty decent setup, I still cannot have any chance to defend against even the lousiest th9 players, since with 270+ elixir bonus anyone with 10 dragons, or 30 balloons and some spells can completely rip me off, and still have earning. There was a threshold for the elixir earned in each attack for the th9 against th8 (190 earned elixir) which now is completely overpassed. No one has to have any strategy, since even if you close your eyes and throw dragons, or balloons, or a bunch of 20-25 giants lvl6 and some rage spells, you have a 3-star victory, against a th8.

I cannot upgrade to th9 since there is NO WAY to collect the 6mil elixir for the giant upgrade, and the only viable solution is to log in once every 15-20 days, on some of my completely free day to try to gather the 2.5 mil gold or 2.5+ mil elixir.

For a good th7 player with dragons (lv2) and some rage, the output loot is 300k+ and is still a very good solution with plenty of earnings. Until now I didn't have any attacks from th7, but it seems in the future there's gonna be plenty of it.

This is a sad day for one of my beloved games.

P.S In all the attacks in the castle I had 6 wizs (lvl 5) or 1 dragon(lvl3) and 1 wiz (lvl6), or 5 balloons lvl6. None was able to defend against any combination of th9.

The new system clearly does not meet its stated goals of making it easier to save up for big upgrades. At least not for my trophy level.

I'm a nearly-maxed TH7, saving up the 2 million gold for TH8.

If I'm raiding people who are near the cap for storages, in gold and elixer:

A capped TH7 used to offer me 200K + collectors. Now it's 250K + collectors: 25% more than before.
A capped TH8 used to offer me 220K + collectors. Now it's 300K + collectors: 36% more than before.
A capped TH9 used to offer me 300K + collectors. Now it's 350K + collectors: 16% more than before.
A capped TH10 used to offer me 400K + collector's. Now it's 400K + collectors: same as before.

If I'm being raided when my storages are near the cap:

If raided by a TH7, I used to risk 250K + collectors. Now it's 300K + collectors: 20% more than before.
If raided by a TH8, I used to risk 225K + collectors. Now it's 270K + collectors: 20% more than before.
If raided by a TH9, I used to risk 125K + collectors. Now it's 150K + collectors: 20% more than before.
If raided by a TH10, I used to risk 62.5K + collectors. Now it's 75K + collectors: 20% more than before.

So, under the new system, I'm a much more appealing target to everyone, TH7-TH10. But only TH7 and TH8 offer me more reward for a raid than I risk by coming out from under my shield. And this is only when I'm raiding people who are near capped. Raiding TH9 or TH10 is, on average, clearly a losing proposition, given the overall 20% increased risk to my storages when I break shield.

But what about people who don't have their storages full? The rewards from raiding people who are idle with full collectors or who have relatively empty coffers haven't changed. But my risk has gone up a flat 20%. So there's no way to make up for the increased risk by raiding these guys.

In order for the new system to increase my available loot overall, capped storages in TH7 and TH8 have to become much more common in the attack queue than they were under the old system. But TH7 at least is much more vulnerable now than under the old system. (And I'd assume the same for TH8, but I haven't done the math.) So how's that going to happen, exactly?

For the first time, i spent 3 hours raiding and gained 500k of so each. I have a th10 base, lvl 113. Pre-patch i would have stolen, 2mil already.... What is wrong? I feel like im being penalised for not buying gems to upgrade my buildings... So frustrating. I'll give it a week then i'm done with this game.

Only TH7's and 8's will raid you, you have the loot penalty to protect you, and a good base means only TH8's can attack you. This update was not for TH7's though, it was for Th9s and 10's because they have the big upgrades, and its alot harder to find loot as a TH9+. This update made it easier for them. Th7's is the easiest TH level in the game and they don't need any improvements.

Once you get a shield, don't break it until you can attack several times.

Well, I don't really know what the point of this change was supposed to be, but it's definitely got me thinking. All the insta "loot is destroyed forever" people seem to forget that the abandoned bases are only a couple days away, just be patient. I don't personally like losing the bonus for attacking higher level th, if they had raised the available loot (IMO a very good call) but also kept the bonus for attacking up I'd have been thrilled. That said, I am going to wait and see, as this doesn't kill the game, it just changes it, and I'll do my best to adapt, no one can say you aren't keeping the game alive at least!

Me too i am also waiting for the game to fix itself but atm i am quiting cause i cant profit much from raid and actually i am losing more than i gain. If the game doesnt fix iteself after a week and a half... well too bad clash of clans will lose its players.

Of course I have it outside, and even with one barb someone can get it, but there is no time to get a shield. As soon as I log off I get attacked by th9s. Until now I have been attacked by 34hogs(lvl5)+3spells+king+queen, 22 baloons (lvl6)+53 minions (lvl5) + 2 spells, 28 balloons (lvl6)+....+ 3 spells, 20 giants(lvl6)+....spells, queen etc, 7 dragons lvl3+spells+queen. None of the above was revenge, attack and in every single case I had a great castle defence. In almost all case there is no way to revenge back cause the villages are almost perfect, and I have no chance of getting anything back.

For the moment I just stopped the game and wait for the shield to end. One solution I have thought of, is to put near the th a gold storage, so some player will just give me shield for 100k gold.

If this update is a strategic movement from supercell to make it almost impossible to play after th8 without huge amounts of gems, then its better to come out and inform us, to find ourselves another way of entertainment. I have paid about 15 euros to the game, but I feel quite stupid after this update.

You sir are full of it. I'm a nearly maxxed th8 & there's nothing out there. Maybe I can save enough elixir to que lvl 6 giants when my forced th9 upgrade complete :/.

Let's not forget that a th8 player who has maxxed troops cant even 3 star anoter decent th8 player with 3 spells & hoping he's got a terrible design. The defense vs offense is terribly unbalanced but it was always ok since there was a lot of loot. I made it to nearly maxxed th8 in 3/4 months on the old system now it'll probably take that long to save up for lvl 6 troops LOL

It's unfortunate that this new system punishes people who actually have to work.

There is only one way to play now if your TH8 and TH9, and that's spend everything you got before you log off. You shouldn't play if there's no builder available and use up your resources. No builder ready, don't play.

I am a lvl9 town hall and after the update I had 6 mil in elixir storage. Over the night I lost close to 1 mil because it looked so good to anyone with a th10. Got attacked 4 times and the last one finally gave me a shield after my resources were raped.


Since then I used up all my elixir and leave about 200k gold in storage. Last night I got 4 defends from people dropping 1 barb to drop down in trophies.

The only reason to stay at TH9 now is to go after TH8. They have a better percentage of resources that can be stolen and lets face it, to get an extra 50k from a loaded TH10 isn't going to happen. TH8 has no xbows and wasn't given a lvl3 inferno tower that can eliminate troops in seconds. The whole premise that you can steal a higher cap from TH10 is a joke. This update makes you prey on the weak.

Therefore the only way the weak can survive is leave nothing in storage. Steal for an upgrade, put any excess on walls and leave nothing.

This is the smart way to play and then maybe the update won't look so good to TH10. Supercell wants us all to leave millions in storage and then everyone will like the stealing. Lets face it, that makes no sense to anyone playing the game. So spend everything you got!

The only problem with this is that TH10 will find the game unplayable, but who cares.
